Californians have been moving out of California at an accelerated rate for close to a decade now. Every year the Census people come out with data on where they are going. They do this for every state, not just California.
This list shows what states and what cities in those states they are relocating to. And just to let you know. Oregon and Nevada aren't #1 or #2

Top 10 Reasons California and Texas are Swapping Residents.
Today we are going to look at two very different states that are also very similar. Texas and California. So, you are probably wondering how two places can be so different and so similar at the same time. I will explain. Both states are 2 of the most populated states. Both are two of the largest in the area. Both are two of our economic powerhouses. More people left California than moved in from other states and Texas being the exact opposite. Both are well over their quota for professional sports teams, and according to this chart by the US Census Bureau, both states are swapping residents. The most moved to the state for Californians is Texas and the most moved to the state for Texans is California.
And that is what today's video is all about 10 reasons why CA and TX are swapping people. I will tell you upfront this video will seem lopsided and the comment section will have the comments saying I am biased or whatever new word of the week is. That’s fine. The fact remains for most people, Texas is more appealing and they have more Californians moving in than Californians are receiving Texans. It’s not just because CA has more people either. It's not just people abandoning California. Businesses have been flooding out of California for some time now. A lot of small companies and some big named companies like Uber, Toyota, Pandora, Jamba Juice, and many others have left The Golden State and this is just the beginning I fear.
California is always at the top of the list of worst places to have a business and this list makes it even more obvious. California in 2020 is not looking good.

What is going on everyone welcome back to the World according to Briggs my name is Briggs, I travel, I make videos and I have never played with lawn darts responsibly. Really, that’s how my younger brother lost a nipple. Living without a nipple is depressing as you can imagine. Speaking of depression, did you know there are thousands of reasons a person can be considered depressed? One of those reasons is where you live. The environment, the people, the economy, the crime, and the weather are just some of the reasons a place can be considered depressing.
So how do you decide which city is the most depressing? Well, you analyze everything you can from the U.S. Census data including divorce, average income, and unemployment rates. Then you look at the weather, homeless rate, and how often people swipe right on my cousin's ex-wife tinder profile.
After that, you make an educated guess. And you come up with the most depressing cities.
And that is what today's videos are all about. So sit back, and relax, take a deep breath and watch my top 10 most depressing cities in America.

Every state has people moving in and moving out every day. Some of the more popular states see a lot of traffic in this respect.
In the United States, you can move to any state you want. Some people have to move to a state even if they don't want to. Work and family often land us places we never intended to be.

The seaports in Long Beach and Los Angeles are the two largest seaports in the United States, handling 40% of inbound US containerized freight.
California is one of the most beautiful and livable places in the United States, there are hundreds of adventures you will love to have in here.

I think it is time to tackle a list I hinted at earlier this year and never got to. When I listed the worst towns in America I said I had to cut Southern California out because it had like 17 of the worst 20. When you suck that bad, you get your own list is the rule here.
A couple of things with this list. I say town but technically some are small cities. I am just cutting out the major cities like Los Angeles and San Diego proper. If I say cities in the title I will have a bunch of geography nerds jumping up my butt. I don’t like anything jumping up my butt especially geography nerds. Most of these are in the LA metro or LA county.
This is another list that has enough to make 3 videos, but we’ll start with one and see how it goes.
These are not places you want to buy real estate.

4- Los Angeles.

Do you have a city in mind when asked about where you'd never move to? The United States of America map is always a good place to go and cross cities off.
This is something people keep a running list in their heads about where not to live. Most of the reasons most often given are the cost of living, crime, traffic, and homes prices. People also go by what they have heard on the news, Chicago is dangerous, San Francisco has homeless, New York is crowded, etc.
The United States has 10 Cities that are considered major cities with over 1 million residents and around 30 more that have about 500,000 residents.
I asked people to pick 3 cities out of the largest 50 cities that they would never move to. Some states like California had a couple cities where the rest were spread out across the country.
A few cities didn't make the list that you probably thought would like Detroit, Cleveland, and Baltimore. I give their stats towards the end of the video.

Many former Californians now call Idaho home and the numbers show. A recent U.S. Census report on state-to-state migration found that 1 out of every 4 people who moved to Idaho came from California.
The Boise Metropolitan Area has experienced a massive population boom in recent years. In 2018, the population of Meridian, Idaho surpassed 100,000 - a staggering 900% increase since 1990! In neighboring Eagle, Idaho, the population increased 233% from 1990 to 2000.

Every year, United and Atlas Van Lines come out with their survey of which states are gaining and losing population. This is a survey where they look at all the state-to-state moves made and gauge how many are coming and going to and from each state and real estate prices.
The country is changing. 10 or 20 years ago, if you got out of school with a degree, most people had to move to a big city to find a job in your field. That isn't as much of a thing anymore. Not as many people need to live in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, and New York City. Those people have now started looking for more affordable places to live. This list convinced me of this shifting American migration pattern.
