I Had NO IDEA What Indian Farmers Did, Until...

Until I spent a year visiting my Wife's farm in India, I had no idea about our farming family's work.

When I first arrived at the farm, I couldn't believe that their fields, which just looked like sand, could grow anything. But what did I know about farming? Not much! I'm just a city slicker.

I went back to the farm in the Churu District of Rajasthan months later to find the fields alive with mustard (सरसों) and chickpeas (चने)! I returned again in the monsoon to see grain (बाजरा), lentils, and pulses growing too.

I couldn't believe it.

It showed how little I knew and how much I had to learn from my Wife's family in the village.

Farmers, villages, and villagers are the heart of India, and we have a lot to learn about pure living and hard work from them.

Just to clarify, that is not my wife next to me at 00:16 ????. This is my wife @ManishaMalikIndia.

Exploring The Agriculture Business InGambia InvestmentOpportunities2021 WhatTo Know Before Investing

#gambia #investmentopportunities #agriculture
In this episode, Jeff and I interview Joseph DeCosta, an entrepreneur and expert in agriculture on the continent of Africa. Joseph has created agriculture businesses in Ghana and Sierra Leone.
Agriculture in Africa has a massive social and economic footprint. More than 60 percent of the population of sub-Saharan Africa is smallholder farmers, and about 23 percent of sub-Saharan Africa’s GDP comes from agriculture. Yet, Africa’s full agricultural potential remains untapped. In a recent analysis, we determined that Africa could produce two to three times more cereals and grains (Exhibit 1), which would add 20 percent more cereals and grains to the current worldwide 2.6 billion tons of output. Similar increases could be seen in the production of horticulture crops and livestock.
Let’s explore the amazing opportunities for African entrepreneurs in this large and potentially lucrative market for chicken and eggs......

Farming for expats in the Philippines is a trend I never expected, but why is it becoming so popular

Today's guide will be going over everything you need to know about farming in the Philippines as a foreigner. this includes the agricultural industry in the Philippines if farming is profitable, and the general overview of what expat farming involves in the Philippines

So to cover some of the basics of what farming is for foreigners in the Philippines and how it works. Farming, in general is really popular in the Philippines. Some farmers focus on seeds and crops while others focus on livestock, such as chickens in pigs. Foreigners, just like Filipinos, can get involved in farming directly or indirectly. Indirectly involves investments. There are several farming investments in the Philippines. Many are legitimate, but unfortunately, many are get-rich-quick schemes.

Foreigners cannot own land in the Philippines. However, a business can, so if you're looking to buy a piece of land, this will either need to be on a business name or in the name of a Filipino.

So the agricultural industry in the Philippines is something I've been studying for the last few months simply because I run a separate business that has links to the agricultural industry in the Philippines. In recent times the agricultural industry has not been in its best shape. The pandemic took its toll. A growth rate decline of 11.4% occurred during 2020, but positive indicators show that the industry is recovering.

If we turn our focus to profitability, this is slightly difficult to answer as this will depend on if you are selling to a domestic market, exporting, and of course, what type of product you are farming. Meat is in high demand across the Philippines, and from my research, it appears that meat offers the highest profitability, but this is based on a few farms, and more research is needed. However a few expats farmers have mentioned that this business is highly profitable.

As a farmer, there's a lot to consider. For example, if you are starting a piggery, there are the building costs, the animals themselves, their feed, and the labor costs. This can cost hundreds of thousands of pesos, depending on the scale of your farm. So is farming a good investment or business in the Philippines?

Farming does have some opportunities. However, based on the information that I've gathered, I don't believe farming is the best idea for foreigners as there are other opportunities to make money that involves much less work and more profit; however, if farming is what you are passionate about, there are certainly opportunities to grow the business. There are many Filipino farmers across the country, so it's best to focus on a product with the highest demand but the lowest supply. Unfortunately, some farming products have a high supply, and several local farmers have suffered due to the high supply. Therefore, market research is essential.
