Top 10 Tips for Visiting Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in the Summer

Top 10 Tips for Visiting Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in the Summer. We spent a few weeks here in Summer 2016.

How to Plan an Epic RV Trip to Yellowstone

Tip #1 - Be prepared for Bears: You are almost guaranteed to come across a Brown or Black bear in the park. Their numbers are up to over 1000 and they are very active in the summer. Encounters are frequently not dangerous, but be prepared by carrying bear spray, which you can order here:
Bear Spray
Making noise may also scare the bears off before you even see them.
Also, use Bear Resistant Containers for food:
Read up on the bears before you go:

Tip #2 Check for Wildfires: Wildfires are very common in this are in the summer. While we were there we had a few days where smoke chocked the valleys. Know where they are by checking the alerts tab on the websites, or check inciweb for details on fires in the entire region.

Tip #3 Drink LOTS of water: Both parks are at high elevations above 6,000 feet with many hikes above 10,000 feet. At these elevations and in the dry conditions found in the parks in summer, your body loses water over twice as fast as at sea level. Pack plenty of water and keep hydrated!
Camelpaks work well:
Nalgenes are also great:
Lifefactory Waterbottles, Glass, BPA free:

Tip #4 Avoid the crowds by visiting early in the morning or late in the evening: We went exploring around 6:00 each morning and after 6:00 in the evening. In the mornings the park will start to fill by 9:00 and be busy untill 6:00 in the evening.

Tip #5 Consider Camping Outside the Parks: While visiting we stayed in national forest campgrounds on the outskirts of the parks. Not only are the campgrounds crazy busy in the parks they are quite expensive for not having any hookups at most of them. Use the website to find campgrounds.

Tip #6 Be respectful of wildlife: Visiting the park you will get up close and personal with lots of big animals. Dont get too close or you will get hurt. Also do not feed the animals, We saw people feeding foxes and squirrels. Doing this gets animals too reliant on humans or makes them dangerous.
Help spread the message with these cool stickers:

#7 Be Wary of other drivers in the park: We have never had so many close calls with vehicular accidents as our time in the park. There are so many distractions and so many people, many with RV's and large vehicles. This is a recipe for disaster so driver defensively, and watch out for other drivers. Drive safely and don't cause an accident.

#8 Stop at the Visitors' Centers: They are incredibly helpful and will help you have the best experience possible. Utilize their service when you get to the park!

#9 Leave your dogs at home: Your dogs are not allowed on any trails or any undeveloped place in the park. Your dog smells like a wolf to many wildlife and screws up natural patterns. Many large animals are also more likely to attack you with a dog. We saw to many people disobeying these rules. Don't be that person. You could also face hefty fines.

#10 Be safe, don't push your luck: Think things through and don't go beyond your means. We saw many people doing dangerous things or clearly unprepared. Be smart and stay safe.

YELLOWSTONE, GRAND TETON & GLACIER - Road Trip for ALL National Parks in 4K

Yellowstone is every traveler's dream. It was at the top of the bucket list for me and my family. We where there in may 2022. In the video I take you to the world's most astonishing geological sights in the Wild West of America, where the bison, bears, wolves and moose roam among the geysers and hot springs. As of June 2022, Yellowstone has been hit by major nature disaster, but in this video you still see quite the opposite: a tranquil spring time where the animals come out of hibernation to feel the sun. The earth lives here like nowhere else. Let's hope we can enjoy the beauty of Yellowstone again soon.

In previous episodes you saw us traveling through the states of Florida, Nevada, Arizona and Utah. In this episode, you'll see the most beautiful places in Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. We also visit Grand Teton and Glacier National Park on this epic RV road trip.

This year we travel all over the world and after the Canary Islands, Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago and Grenada, Florida and the Bahamas, the Wild West of the US is our tenth destination. Follow us on this world tour, first in the United States and then to many more beautiful destinations! After this we also visit Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands and much more! We travel non-stop all year round and film everything. Also take a look at instagram @woutoftheworld or

Yellowstone National Park's 10 Best Hikes

America's first national park has many breath taking stops, but these are the very best hikes. With these, you are guaranteed to see geysers, volcanoes, hot springs, buffalo, lakes, geologic marvels, and more!

Let's connect on Instagram!

ADDITIONAL VIDEO NOTES:

America’s oldest national park, Yellowstone, was established in the late 1800s but after visiting, it will become obvious why it was the first. The park tells a story of our planet, with ancient geologic formations, dinosaur fossils, thermal bacteria, and of course the wildlife and human history of a more recent past. Although Yellowstone might be known for its famous geiser, Old Faithful, there is far more to see in this park. From the massive waterfalls and geisers, to the hot springs, mud pits, and herds of buffalo, Yellowstone is a unique place like no other. In this video, I will share with you 8 of my top destinations in Yellowstone National Park.

Yellowstone National Park is located in the northwest corner of Wyoming, near the borders of Montana and Idaho. Many visitors choose to enter from the south, after visiting Grand Tetons National park just 7 miles south. I made a video about that park as well.

DESTINATION Keplr Cascades
This is on the way into the park, one of the first stops and is a quick little pull-off
Est. time ~15 minutes
This is a view of a waterfall on the firestone river about two miles south of old faithful village

DESTINATION Lower Falls in the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
Hike in from the north rim trail
There are staircases and railings but it is still a moderate to hike with some serious elevation change
308’ tallest in the par

DESTINATION Mammoth Hot Springs
Northern end of the park

DESTINATION Grand Loop Road - look at geisers in the morning and stop to watch the wildlife
Respect the wildlife
There are sometimes road closures

DESTINATION Mud Volcano
The mud volcano is located southeast of canyon village and is another boardwalk hike around a 0.6 mile loop. In this hike, you will see the famous mud volcano as well as some of the most acidic features in the park, plus dragons mouth spring, sour lake, sizzling cauldron, and more.
This is an easy hike but be warned that it smells bad thanks to the sulfuric gasses rising from the ground.
Yellowstone is a massive volcano, often referred to as the yellowstone supervolcano. Much of the park sits above the yellowstone hotspot, from which hot magma floats toward the surface and heats pockets of water and gas which create the geysers we see in the park. But don’t worry, geologists studying this volcano say it is unlikely we will see any major eruption in the next couple hundred years.

DESTINATION Yellowstone Lake
It is easy to get swept away with views of the amazing geysers, but Yellowstone lake is beautiful destination in itself. Located at 7700 feet above sea level, Yellowstone Lake is the largest high elevation lake in north america. It is also home to the largest population of cutthroat trout which originated from the pacific ocean. This puzzled scientists for decades, as the lake drains to the atlantic ocean with no streams connecting it to the pacific.
The water remains cold year round, so I don’t recommend trying to swim

DESTINATION The Norris Area
There are two main loops in the norris geyser basin; named the porcelain and back basins
Porcelain basin loop is about 1 mile long and is an easy boardwalk hike

Back basin is about 2.5 miles and is an easy boardwalk hike but you can take shortcuts as needed. This is home to the the tallest geyser in the park, Steamboat geyser. Unfortunately, you’ll need some serious luck to see this one erupt, as it can go as much as 50 years between eruptions.

In these pools, you will see rainbows of vibrant colors thanks to the microorganisms living here. Each temperature range is ideal to a different group of organisms and therefore, the colors act as a thermometer

DESTINATION West Thumb Geyser Basin

DESTINATION #9 Midway Geyser Basin
This is a popular spot for instagram photos, as you get classic yellowstone colors and it is a very short walk from the parking lot. Because of that, it gets really crowded

DESTINATION Old Faithful

Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Parks TOP 10 family adventures

Grand Tetons and Yellowstone define the beauty of America!

I recently started this segment on my channel called ‘Atiqa’s Adventures’ where I take you along with me on my trips. In this video, we are traveling to the beautiful mountains and lush meadows of Wyoming. We will tour America’s most beautiful National parks, Grand Teton and Yellowstone. There are many fun and adventurous activities you can do with your family and friends here. My top ten list is not in any particular order as we thoroughly enjoyed each day and each activity! It’s just a jumbled up list of top 10 things, and that definitely does not mean there are only ten things to do! There are too many fun adventures to enjoy and beautiful sights to see, but no picture or video can ever do justice to the incredibly spectacular beauty of the place.

Also, the adventure park where we spent our day in Jackson Hole was actually called Snow King Mountain Resort! I just got confused with another adventure resort in the town of Jackson Hole ????

Here are the links to the places and activities I recommended:

Jenny Lake Shuttle: jennylakeboating.com

Bike Rentals:

Whitewater Rafting:
