I hope you enjoyed today's video. If there is a country, state, city or town you'd like us to do a video about let us know in the comment section.
If you enjoy these videos I would love to hear about it. These videos are made to help people who are thinking about relocating, looking for real estate, or just wanting to learn about the United States. We look at the best and worst cities, states, towns, and neighborhoods in the United States. But, most of the time focus on the negative side of locations. If you only want some happy positive information about a city, town or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine and rainbows. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, bail bondsmen, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will. And I will try and make it entertaining.

Top 25 Poorest Countries in the World | List 25

These countries share some common traits | List 25
The global economy is increasingly complicated and competitive. Countries are compelled to use whatever tools they have at their disposal to promote growth, attract business, and protect their economic interests. The international playing field is not level, however, and a number of unique disadvantages have made wealth creation and economic development nearly impossible in some parts of the world.
The poorest countries in the world, regardless of continent or hemisphere, often share some common traits. In several cases, they were under European colonial control and only gained independence sometime in the last century. Many of the poorest countries have also recently been devastated by civil war or natural disasters. Poor populations are also often hamstrung by political corruption and instability, as well as inadequate infrastructure and public services.
Lacking the stability, and resources necessary to develop well-rounded, valuable economies of innovation, the poorest countries in the world tend to be heavily dependent on agriculture -- both for subsistence and international trade. Further, the lack of economic activity in many of these countries has significant implications for public health and life expectancy.
24/7 Wall St. reviewed World Bank data on gross national income per capita based on purchasing power parity, or GNI per capita PPP, by country to identify the poorest countries in the world. This measure is commonly used to approximate average annual income. For reference, GNI per capita PPP in the United States is $54,151. In every country on this list, GNI per capita is below $3,000.
Stay tuned to see top 25 poorest countries in the world.

10 POOREST COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD 2023 and 2022 | Top10 Poorest Countries in the WORLD 2022.

Top 10 poorest countries in the world 2023 and 2022 | Top10 Poorest Countries in the WORLD 2022. | Poorest countries in the world

GDP per capita is considered an important method to compare how poor or wealthy countries are in relation to each other. We have decided to make a list for you to tell you about the Top 10 poorest countries in the world 2023.

So, without wasting much time, let’s dive into it.

10. Mozambique.
Mozambique is a country rich in natural resources and has made great strides towards becoming one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies. However, the country is still recovering from a 16-year civil war that began when it gained independence from Portugal in 1975 and ended in 1992.

9. Liberia.
Africa’s oldest republic, Liberia suffered from a series of civil wars between 1989 and 2003. While peace has now outlasted war, GNI per capita is a mere $667 with a life expectancy of 63. The outbreak has had a lasting impact on the livelihoods of survivors; the World Bank’s most recent survey of the country in 2016 estimated nearly 51% of the population living below the poverty line. While education is expected to last 10 years, most Liberians only complete 4.7 years of schooling.

8. Mali.
The fourth-largest country on the African continent, Mali’s capital of Bamako once flourished as a trading post. Today, however, the country (which gained independence from France in 1960) has a GNI per capita of $1,953 and a life expectancy of 58.5.

7. Burkina Faso.
Bordered by both Mali (#8) and Niger (#1), Burkina Faso is another former French colony that has suffered conflict and coups following its independence in 1960. Drought has also plagued the country, resulting in a mean 1.5 years of schooling compared to the expected 8.5 years. Burkina Faso’s GNI per capita is $1,650, with a life expectancy of 60.8. The World Bank’s 2014 data indicate just over 40% of the population living in poverty.
6. Sierra Leone.
A UN peacekeeping mission helped to quell Sierra Leone’s 11-year civil war in 2002. While the country’s economy has grown in peacetime, it was one of the two countries hit hardest by the 2014-2016 Ebola epidemic alongside Liberia (#9).

Well, do you like what you are seeing so far? Don’t forget to like and subscribe! Keep watching because you don’t wanna miss what we have at the number one spot!

5. Burundi.
The Republic of Burundi has been in conflict consistently since gaining independence from Belgium in 1962. Culminating in civil war in 1994, the conflict has left nearly 65% of the population living in extreme poverty (according to 2014 data from the World Bank).

4. Chad.
Despite a $4 billion pipeline that links the country’s oil fields to coastline terminals, Chad is one of the world’s poorest countries thanks to poor infrastructure and conflict (most notably from the militant group Boko Haram).

3. South Sudan.
The Republic of South Sudan gained independence in July 2011, but has experienced a long history of conflict, displacement, and deepening humanitarian needs. As of 2016, the World Bank estimates over 82% of the South Sudanese population are living in extreme poverty. While mean years of schooling are comparable to expected years (4.8 and 4.9 years, respectively), life expectancy is just 57.3 years and GNI per capita is $963.

2. Central African Republic.
Unsurprisingly, the world’s hungriest country is also one of the poorest. In the 2018 Global Hunger Index (GHI), the Central African Republic was the only country with hunger levels classified as “extremely alarming.” The connection between hunger and poverty is apparent here.

1. Niger.
A combination of a GNI per capita of $906, life expectancy of 60.4 years, and a mean 2 years of schooling (against an expected 5.4) lead to Niger topping the UN’s human development report as the world’s poorest country. World Bank data from 2014 estimate 44.5% of the country’s population of 21.5 million living in extreme poverty.
Poverty manifests in Niger through high levels of food insecurity, illnesses including endemic malaria, and poor access to services including water and sanitation. Crises around agriculture have compounded into hunger and nutrition issues and have affected much of the Nigerien population in the last 20 years, jeopardizing the lives of millions of people.

10 Poorest Countries in the World 2020

GDP per capita is an indicator used to measure the economic performance of countries relative to their population. It is calculated by dividing the Gross Domestic Product of a certain country by the number of residents. It gives us some insight into the living standards in that particular country.

Economic growth rate, on the other hand, measures the changes in the GDP. Another useful indicator is the unemployment rate, which indicates the percentage of the labor force that is currently out of a job. The labor force only includes people who are of legal working age and able to work.

The past few days in Antananarivo, Madagascar have been overwhelming, intense and eye-opening. And I apologize for the delays in posting these videos -- it's been nearly impossible to find decent enough wifi.

Madagascar, as a whole, is a beautiful tropical island with stunning greenery, giant baobab trees and unique wildlife (like lemurs!). It's also massive -- about twice the size of my home state of Arizona -- floating 250 miles off the southeastern part of mainland Africa.

But putting the natural beauty aside, Madagascar is one of the World's poorest countries, with the 5th lowest GDP per capita. Walking on the streets of Antananarivo, I couldn't help but observe and analyze what I was seeing --- people just barely managing to survive, working labor-intensive jobs with very little pay.

My new local friends and I took a mini road trip to some outer villages, where I learned about the daily life of people working in the markets. Here's what I discovered.

If there's any takeaway from today (and through travel in general) -- it is to appreciate the life I live. If you are reading this as well, consider yourself lucky because you have internet, which most of the people in Madagascar cannot afford.

Top 20 Poorest Countries in the WORLD based on GDP

The human side of poverty aside, categorizing the poorest countries in the world isn’t as simple as ranking total wealth. Data are often hard to come by in some of the most vulnerable countries. What’s more, relying on the gross domestic product (GDP) as a ranking factor doesn’t account for all of a country’s wealth. Even if we find a unifying metric, how do we account for exchange rates?

The International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and Central Intelligence Agency all rank countries by their per-capita GDPs (Gross Domestic Products). Given the variables at play, however, these lists are all slightly different from one another. Ranking by GDP also means we’re just ranking by production of a country versus its income.
