The report provides the most comprehensive data analysis on the trend of peace, its economic value, and suggestions on how to develop peaceful societies. In the report, the sub-Saharan African region is slightly above the global average based on the many regional conflicts that are currently happening in Many parts of the world.

Happiness – and the pursuit of it – can mean very different things to different people. This, inevitably, makes it tough to quantify and rank with any real authority.
While happiness is said to come from within, residents in several nations are perceived to experience it more widely than in other countries.
The happiness of citizens does not increase when their country’s overall wealth increases.
This year’s ranking criteria has also seen some changes. It focuses on happiness and the community.

It is in the nature of every person of the world that they want to live in the happy and peaceful places, so peace in any country is measured by Global Peace Index and GPI will absolutely help people before travel in any part of the world.
So in this context, Global Peace Index report from the Institute of Economics and Peace which is able to show the comparative level of peace in 162 countries because they prepare list of 162 countries with their GPI level every year.
They rank countries on the basis of different indicators including absence of war, schooling, relations with neighboring states, contributions in keeping peace level of United Nation, level of violent crime and many others.

Everyone like to live in a peaceful and happy nation, Right? The Global Peace Index (GPI) report from the Institute of Economics and Peace shows the relative level of peace in 162 countries. They ranked the countries based on 22 different indicators, including level of violent crime, relations with neighboring countries, the absence of war, contribution to U.N peace keeping mission, schooling…etc..

For many people, the world feels like a much more dangerous place now than it was a few decades ago. Information arrives more quickly, and through many more channels, and it’s hard to avoid noticing security alerts from so much of the world. But travel is hugely important for staying informed, understanding other people and other cultures and keeping fear at bay, and if there’s a middle ground — traveling while staying safe — we’re all for it.
In the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017, countries are ranked according to their safety and security. The criteria to measure a country’s safety includes a handful of indicators, the index of terrorism incidence being perhaps the most obvious. For this, they used third-party data that looked at how many terrorist incidents occurred between 2010 and 2012, and how many fatalities and injuries happened in this same period.

The Global Peace Index 2022 finds that the level of global peacefulness deteriorated, with the average country score falling by 0.3%. Although slight, this is the eleventh deterioration in peacefulness in the last fourteen years, with 90 countries improving, 71 deteriorating and two remaining stable in peacefulness, highlighting that countries tend to deteriorate much faster than they improve.

10. JAPAN
Japan is three times more densely populated than Europe and 12 times more than the U.S. Yet it still manages to rank highly for both peace and quality of life. Theft and other felonies, the National Police Agency notes, have become passé. Over the past few years, the number of recorded crimes continued to decrease to historically low levels—a trend also reflected in the low incarceration rate, which in Japan has followed a downward trajectory starting from the 1950s.
9. SINGAPORE
While the Global Peace Index report shows an increasingly world, Singapore has become more peaceful. Way more peaceful: when the ranking was first launched in 2008 it occupied the 22nd spot. What prompted this remarkable jump? The Institute for Economics and Peace points out that the largest improvements in the ranking are usually broadly based while large deteriorations in peace are usually led by a few indicators.
8. CZECH REPUBLIC
Up one spot from last year, over the last decade the Czech Republic has shown a sustained improvement in a great number of areas ranging from political stability to personal security and international relations.
According to the OECD, it also performs well in many measures of wellbeing, ranking above average in jobs and earnings, work-life balance, education and skills. Not only have 94% of adults aged 25-64 completed upper secondary education—well above the average rate of 78% and the highest among the 34 industrialized member countries.
7. SLOVENIA
A legend says that when God distributed the land to all the nations, Slovenians were overlooked because there were so few of them (they still barely reach 2 million). To apologize, he gave them a little piece of paradise he saved for himself.
6. PORTUGAL
Portugal marches to the beat of its own drum when it comes to peace and safety. Over the past few years, this nation of about 10 million people has emerged as one of the biggest climbers of the Global Peace Index, moving from the 18th spot it held in 2014 to the top 10.
5. AUSTRIA
Since the end of the Cold War, this small landlocked country of just nearly 9 million moved from its peripheral position at the borderline between East and West closer to the center of a larger Europe. As a young member of the EU and outside of NATO, Austria prided itself on trying to get along with rival political blocs and embracing new forms of cooperation with its neighbors.
4. DENMARK
Denmark held the number two spot of the ranking for five years in a row from 2011 to 2016 the number five spot from 2017 to 2020, and the number three last year. Now in the fourth position, these relatively minor changes in the ranking only tell us that the kingdom is doing well. It also boasts a high level of income equality and is frequently ranked as one of the happiest nations in the world.
3. IRELAND
The Republic of Ireland is one of the wealthiest, most developed and happiest nations in the world. It is also quite peaceful: in last year’s edition of the Global Peace Report it managed to gain four positions and land in the eighth spot, the highest position it had ever held in the ranking. This year Ireland outdid itself, leapfrogging many of its European peers and conquering third place in the Peace Index.

Holding on to the number two spot in the index since 2017, over the past decade and a half New Zealand has never slipped below fourth place in the Global Peace Index.

With no standing army, navy or air force and the smallest population of any NATO member state (about 365,000 people), Iceland also enjoys record-low crime rates, an enviable education and welfare system.
