Most attractive Places in Mauritania||Mew Play

Mauritania is located in Africa and is not so famous. It is rather infamous for the terrorism and fear prone areas. The land is mainly of villages and their inhabitants. Mostly mud houses and agriculture abounds in Mauritania. It has passed a law long back in 1981 to end slavery.
Nouadhibhou
One of the densely populated cities of Mauritania. Fishing is the main industry of the city. It has numerous shipwrecks, largest one at the peninsula’s tip. You can take a look around the city in just 20 to 30 minutes. La Guerra is one of the tourism spots here.
Tidjikja
It is one of the quietest towns of Mauritania. Hop in for a peaceful ride. It as a caravan town, most of the travelers are nomadic. The ride we just spoke about is a caravan. It is a thrilling experience.
Adrar
You may need to take a guide along to the region of sand dunes, Adrar. You might also need to check with the local government if you can travel and pass through these regions. Though the temperature is as hot as the sun, there are oasis and trees which can give some relief to a heat sick traveller or the animals.
Nouakchott
It is the capital of Mauritania. And one of the little urban places in Mauritania. As Mauritania is mostly a desert, though Nouakchott is developed, you will still find nomad tents in public places. It is quite a sight.
Chinguetti
As discussed earlier it is not one the most modern cities of Africa. You will find old and traditional architecture. A really good place for an avid photographer. It is a UNESCO world heritage site.

About Nouakchott: Nouakchott (/nwækˈʃɒt, nwɑː-/; French: nwakʃɔt; Arabic: نواكشوط; Berber: Nwakcoṭ, originally derived from Berber: Nawākšūṭ, place of the winds) is the capital and largest city of Mauritania. It is one of the largest cities in the Sahel. The city also serves as the administrative and economic center of Mauritania. Nouakchott was a mid-sized village of little importance until 1958 when it was chosen as the capital of the nascent nation of Mauritania. At the time, it was designed and built to accommodate 15,000 people. However, beginning in the 1970s, a vast number of Mauritanians began moving to Nouakchott because environmental conditions in their home villages had become too harsh due to drought and increasing desertification. As of 2013, the city had a population of just under a million people. Many of the newcomers settled in slum areas of the city that were poorly maintained and extremely overcrowded. However, more recently, the living conditions of some of these inhabitants have improved. The city is the hub of the Mauritanian economy. It is home to a deepwater port and Nouakchott–Oumtounsy International Airport, one of the countrys two international airports. It also hosts the University of Nouakchott and several other more specialized institutions of higher learning. // Mauritania, officially the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (Arabic: الجمهورية الإسلامية الموريتانية), is a sovereign country in Northwest Africa. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Western Sahara to the north and northwest, Algeria to the northeast, Mali to the east and southeast, and Senegal to the southwest. Mauritania is the 11th-largest country in Africa and the 28th-largest in the world, and 90% of its territory is situated in the Sahara. Most of its population of 4.4 million lives in the temperate south of the country, with roughly one-third concentrated in the capital and largest city, Nouakchott, located on the Atlantic coast. Discover MAURITANIA: Where FAT Is BEAUTIFUL | 10 Interesting Facts You DO NOT KNOW about Mauritania

At midnight on November 28, 1960, under a tent in Nouakchott, to which the capital was recently moved, the chosen president announces the independence of Mauritania from French colonialism in the presence of foreign press delegations and a number of French and African personalities. Since then, Mauritania is considered a link between the Arab and African worlds.

The word “Mauritania” was not used to refer to the geographical area currently known as “Mauritania.” As for the original name, it was “الشنقيط بالد/Bilad alshanqit” (In English: The land of alshanqit) and the inhabitants were called “الشناقطة /alshanaqita”, but France named the country “Mauritania” when it colonized it at the beginning of the last century.
I forgot to tell you why the words are in Arabic because the official language of the country is Arabic

The Mauritanian constitution stipulates the existence of four national languages, the first of which is Arabic (the official language of the country), along with the “Pularian” language, the “Millennium” language, and the “Sononic” language (African languages), but there is a fifth language that is not provided for in the constitution, which is the “Zanak” language (the Berber language), and this language is almost disappearing from the country.

The Parc National du Banc D’arguin, a UNESCO world heritage site. It is one of the largest bird sanctuaries and very popular amongst bird lovers all across the world. You can spot many migratory birds in the reserve. You can go birdwatching there. The Park comprises sand-dunes, coastal swamps, small islands, and shallow coastal waters. The contrast between the harsh desert

environment and the biodiversity of the marine zone has resulted in a land- and seascape of outstanding natural significance. A wide variety of migrating birds spends the winter there. Several species of sea turtle and dolphin, used by the fishermen to attract shoals of fish, can also be found.
9- “The Richat Structure”, an eye staring at you from space! It is a huge eye in the Mauritanian desert which is visible from space, and it ranks as one of the most incredible geological marvels of our world. Just imagine looking down on Earth from space and an eye is staring back at you. It is known that the diameter of this eye is around 40 km and it looks like a ‘bull’s eye’.

The exact reason for its creation is still unknown as while competing theories concerning its origins exist, the debate still rages among some scientists. Nature seems reluctant to yield its mysteries to mankind. Some evidence indicates that this astonishing Eye of the Sahara represents the remnants of a geologic dome that formed approximately 100 million years ago.

“Bay of Nouadhibou”, “The Graveyard of ships” The place where there are rusting hulks in every direction, and ships that were cheaper to illegally abandon in this harbor than to correctly dismantle.

The city of Nouadhibou is the second-largest city in Mauritania and serves as the country's commercial center. It is famous for being the location of one of the largest ship graveyards in the world. Hundreds of rusting ships can be seen all around, in the water, and on beaches.
Various historical records cite that the port city became a vessel graveyard during the late 20th century. However, the idea of using the peninsula as a ship graveyard predates back to the days of the
country’s French colonization during the 20s and peaked to substantial heights during the 80s.

In the past, there were several currencies circulating inside Mauritania. The Ouguiya is the only Arabic word among all the monetary conventions in Mauritania. All of the other terms are of European origin, so this authentic Arabic word was chosen as a name for the Mauritanian national currency.

You will learn in Mauritania to give more value and attention to the number five. Mauritania is one of only two countries in the world to not use a decimal currency! The other is Madagascar. The Ouguiya
is the currency of Mauritania. Each ouguiya constitutes five Khoums.
6- As a Mauritanian kid, we can expect now that you should now have a rooster’s farm dependent on the number of teeth you've replaced so far.
In Mauritania, when a child loses a tooth, their parents tell them to wrap up their tooth in a small piece of cloth and throw it as hard as they can onto the roof of their house. If they get up very early the next morning, they will find a rooster on the roof, and they can keep it. If they don't wake up early enough, they won't find the rooster.

Market madness in Nouakchott, Mauritania ????????

It was my first full day in Nouakchott, the Mauritanian capital. I set out to see the city markets (Marché Capitale) and the fish markets (Port de Pêche). Both were chaotic to say the least.

MAURITANIA: Breakdown in the middle of the desert! Terjit Oasis and Chinguetti // EPS. 3

The rough ride through Mauritania: Breakdown in the middle of the desert, a trip to an ancient town that gets burried by the dunes, and new friends who helped us solve our problems.
We started off in the mauritanian city Nouadhibou, where we learned how to adapt to local customs. After a short stay in Mauritanias capital Nouakchott we started our journey inlands – hundreds of kilometers in the burning heat with 40 degrees celsius plus. When doing a little excursion to the oasis Terjit we got stuck in deep sand – and my travel partner burnt the clutch of his Africa Twin motorcycle. With the help of the whole village we were able to get to a local guesthouse – but the Africa Twin would not start anymore. While looking for a solution I did excursions to the city Atar and the ancient town Chinguetti, which once was one of the most important cities of Islam. How we solved the problem with the motorcycle? Watch the whole episode to find out if we were ever able to leave the oasis of Terjit!

Amazing SAHARA: Tassili n'Ajjer, Algeria [Amazing Places 4K]

Six days deep into the heart of the Sahara, into one of the most picturesque parts of the desert: Tassili n'Ajjer National Park of Algeria, near the borders with Libya and Niger.

I never thought I could be so overwhelmed by the beauty of the Sahara but for sure this was one of the most amazing trips I have ever had. I witnessed breathtaking Saharan landscapes changing endlessly before my eyes, and I hope that you too, watching the video, will get mesmerized by the amazing beauty of the desert - the tall dunes, the dramatic sandstone formations (pinnacles, buttes, arches), and the ancient rock art. More than 15,000 petroglyphs and paintings, some up to 8,000 years old, have been discovered in the area. The Tuareg people who have lived in the Sahara for millennia are nowadays happy to guide travelers through its secrets. Tassili n'Ajjer is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that deserves to be seen and admired.

Mauritania Drone Flight: Nouakchott is the capital and largest city of Mauritania. It is one of the largest cities in the Sahel. The city also serves as the administrative and economic center of Mauritania. Nouakchott was a mid size village of little importance until 1958, when it was chosen as the capital of the nascent nation of Mauritania. It was designed and built to accommodate 15,000 people, but drought and increasing desertification since the 1970s have displaced a vast number of Mauritanians who resettled in Nouakchott. This caused massive urban growth and overcrowding, with the city having an official population of just under a million as of 2013. The resettled population inhabited slum areas under poor conditions, but the living conditions of a portion of these inhabitants have since been improved. The city is the hub of the Mauritanian economy and is home to a deepwater port and Nouakchott–Oumtounsy International Airport, one of the countrys two international airports. It hosts the University of Nouakchott and several other more specialized institutes of higher learning. // Mauritania, officially the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, is a country in Northwest Africa. It is the eleventh largest sovereign state in Africa and is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Western Sahara to the north and northwest, Algeria to the northeast, Mali to the east and southeast, and Senegal to the southwest. The country derives its name from the ancient Berber kingdom of Mauretania, which existed from the 3rd century BCE into the 7th century CE in the far north of modern-day Morocco and Algeria. Approximately 90% of Mauritanias land is within the Sahara. [Source: wikipedia // Google]

ℹ️ Information »
Mauritania, officially the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (Arabic: الجمهورية الإسلامية الموريتانية‎), is a country in Northwest Africa. It is the twenty-eighth largest country or dependency in the world, the eleventh largest sovereign state in Africa and the largest country lying entirely below an altitude of 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). Mauritania is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Western Sahara to the north and northwest, Algeria to the northeast, Mali to the east and southeast, and Senegal to the southwest. The country’s name derives from the name of the ancient Berber kingdom of Mauretania, located in present-day Morocco and Algeria. Berbers occupied the area that today is Mauritania beginning in the 3rd century CE, until Arabs invaded and conquered it in the 8th century, bringing Islam and Islamic culture with them. In the late 19th century, during European Scramble for Africa, Mauritania became a French colony. Mauritania became independent from French West Africa in 1960. Since then, it has experienced recurrent coups and periods of authoritarian military rule. The most recent coup, in 2008, was led by General Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, who then won presidential elections in 2009 and 2014.[10] Mohamed Ould Ghazouani's victory in the 2019 Mauritanian presidential election was presented as having been the country's first peaceful transition of power since independence.
