Top 10 Faroe Islands Cities By Population

The Faroe Islands is an archipelago and a self-governing territory of Denmark, with a total of 18 islands, of which 17 are inhabited. Although the Faroe Islands have settlements and villages spread across the archipelago, it does not have cities in the traditional sense. The largest settlement is Tórshavn, which is also the capital city of the Faroe Islands. Other major settlements include Klaksvík, Runavík, Tvøroyri, Fuglafjørður, Vágur, and Sørvágur.

Therefore, it is not appropriate to provide a top 10 list of cities in the Faroe Islands. Instead, I can provide you with a list of the largest settlements based on population:

Papua New Guinea & Solomon Islands Travel Guide

Papua New Guinea & Solomon Islands Travel Guide

Papua New Guinea is an island nation in Oceania. A country of immense cultural and biological diversity, it’s known for its beaches and coral reefs. Inland are active volcanoes, granite Mt. Wilhelm, dense rain forest and hiking routes like the Kokoda Trail. There are also traditional tribal villages, many with their own languages.

Papua New Guinea is just to the south of the equator and has a tropical climate. In the highlands, though, temperatures are distinctly cool. The (very) wet season runs from about December to March. The best months for trekking are June to September.

The Solomon Islands, a nation of hundreds of islands in the South Pacific, has many WWII-era sites. Guadalcanal, a province and one of the archipelago’s largest islands, honors fallen Allied soldiers at its U.S. War Memorial. Guadalcanal is also home to the nation’s capital, Honiara, whose bustling Central Market showcases the islands’ produce and traditional handicrafts.

Honiara, on the island of Guadalcanal, is the capital city of the Solomon Islands. Its buzzing Central Market sells local produce and handicrafts. Traditional frescoes adorn the conical National Parliament building. The National Museum has WWII relics and cultural artifacts. The Botanical Gardens includes an orchid house. Outside the city, the waters of the Mataniko Falls thunder down a rocky cliff into a canyon.
The American War Memorial has descriptions on marble slabs of local battles fought during the Guadalcanal Campaign of WWII. Built by Japanese veterans, the Solomons Peace Memorial Park commemorates those who died. West of the city, Vilu War Museum has memorials and WWII aircraft. Nearby, Bonegi Beach, with 2 sunken wartime vessels, is a popular site for diving and snorkeling. East, Bloody Ridge is a hill defended by U.S. troops against the Japanese in 1942. It has a small, pyramid-shaped U.S. memorial. With views over the area, nearby Mount Austen was a strategic WWII site.

Port Moresby is the sprawling capital of Papua New Guinea, a country north of Australia. The vast anthropological collection at the PNG National Museum and Art Gallery includes masks and carved wooden poles. Nearby, Parliament House is modeled on a traditional house of worship. Its entrance is dominated by a large, colorful mosaic featuring national motifs. There are views over Port Moresby Harbour from Paga Hill.
Nearby traditional villages include Koki, built on stilts in a bay. To the north, Port Moresby Nature Park combines botanical gardens, featuring many orchids, with a zoo housing tree kangaroos, parrots and reptiles. The Bomana War Cemetery holds the graves of many Papua New Guinean, Australian and other soldiers who died during WWII. Hikers are drawn to Varirata National Park in the east, with its resident wallabies and birds of paradise. Nearby, the town of Sogeri is at one end of the long, mountainous Kokoda Track, which passes through dense rainforest. Diving is popular on coral reefs off the coast.

Least Visited Countries in The World - WhyShould You Visit These Lesser-Known Countries?

When it comes to traveling, everyone usually talks about are the mainstream locations. You know, countries that literally live from tourism. But very rarely do we hear anyone talking about the least visited countries in the world (the unpopular tourist countries). You probably don’t even know some of these remote countries that we'll mention on this list but hopefully, this article can show you that no matter how remote, isolated or seemingly-hostile a country might appear, every country in the world has its charm and natural beauty that make it worth visiting.

How did we evaluate what's the least visited country in the world and what's the methodology behind figuring out what are the least traveled to countries?

For this article, we used news reports and international arrivals from airports. Counting tourists can be tricky because different countries use different methods of defining and counting tourists.

Additionally, some people claim to be tourists to avoid the extra bureaucracy that comes with being an ex-pat or traveling for business and that makes things even more difficult. This list doesn't include countries that see a drop in tourism because of armed conflict.

The reason for this is simple; before the war conflicts in all these countries began, some countries like Syria, Lybia, Iraq, and Yemen would host millions of visitors every year.

On average, both, Syria and Iraq had 5-6 million visitors annually before the conflicts of 2011 and 2014, Lybia had around 1 million visitors per year before 2011 but today, they don't even issue visas anymore while Yemen would usually get around 800,000 tourists per year before the start of the civil war. That's still a lot more than any other country on this list.

Spoiler alert: it might come across as a surprise but communist North Korea is no longer on this list, with almost 300,000 international tourists a year. That's almost 6 times more than the first country on this list! Watch the video to see what are some of the most obscure countries you should visit.

Solomon Islands [Location, Capital, Population, Languages]

Tinakula is a conical stratovolcano , Temotu Province, Solomon Islands

Tinakula is a conical stratovolcano which forms an island north of Nendo in Temotu Province, the Solomon Islands. It lies at the north end of the Santa Cruz Islands. It is about 3.5 kilometres (2 miles) wide and rises 851 metres (2,792 feet) above sea level, rising three to four kilometres (1.9 to 2.5 miles) from the sea floor. It erupts approximately every hour in a plume of ash and rocks. The volcano was first recorded in eruption in 1595 when Álvaro de Mendaña sailed past it.

The island is uninhabited. A previous population was eradicated when the volcano erupted around 1840 and pyroclastic flows swept all sides of the island. In 1951, polynesians from Nukapu and Nupani settled on the island, which reached a peak population of 130, before it had to be evacuated with the 1971 eruption. The village of Temateneni was on the southeast coast. In the late 1980s, two families (less than 10 people) from Nupani made another attempt at settlement.Tinakula Vulkan,
