1. Ha Long Bay
Located in the Quang Ninh province of Vietnam, this bay is one incredible sight that runs along the coastline. What makes it so amazing? The thousands of limestone islands, karsts and isles that are completely covered in jungle vegetation.

2. The Great Blue Hole
This incredible underwater sinkhole measures 984 feet across and plunges 394 feet deep. It’s one of the top 10 best scuba diving spots in the world. You’ll find it off the coast of Belize.

3. Salar de Uyuni
From first glance it looks like a huge white ocean, but the truth is this flat is thought to contain over ten billion tons of salt. It’s the largest salt flat in the world and spans 4,086 square miles in southwest Bolivia. As part of the Andes, it is located 11,995 feet above sea level.

4. The Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights
People travel far and wide to Norway, Alaska and Yellowknife to view this magnificent sight! Legend has it that the Northern Lights aka Aurora Borealis occur when the spirits of those who’ve died pass over the heavens while the whistling crackling noise that tends to accompany the lights are the voices of those spirits. The scientific explanation: when highly charged electrons from the solar system meet elements such as oxygen and nitrogen from earth’s atmosphere, various colors burst forth. The color of the lights depend on the individual atoms struck and at which altitude. The dance or shift, flow and movement of the lights is caused by the constant shift of magnetic and electrical forces reacting to each other.

5. Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth in any land mass and has the highest concentration of salt in the world. It’s called “dead” because living creatures and plants are unable to survive thanks to its high salinity and yet it provides all sorts of health properties to those who swim…er float in it.

6. The Blue Grotto
There is an intense blue light that floods this famous cave in Capri, Italy. The brilliant blue color is caused by two tiny holes in the cave wall that are barely visible to those you look for it. If you place your hand underwater it will “glow” mysteriously thanks to the cave conditions and nature of the light.

7. Paria Canyon, Arizona
Paria Canyon spans across Utah and Arizona and just happens to be one of the most unique hiking locations in the southwest. In addition to the amazing natural red sandstone structures, The Wave is an exceptional formation that tourists flock to, thanks to the red streaks and wave patterns.

8. Lac Rose
Lake Retba aka Lac Rose is located in Senegal, just north of the Cap Vert peninsula. As you can tell by the photo and its name, the lake is completely pink! The shade is caused by the Dunaliella salina algae in the water which produces a red pigment that turns the waters a shade of rose. Like the Dead Sea, this lake is full of salt, so those who swim in it float easily.

9. Mount Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world at 19,341 feet above sea level. It is also the highest mountain in Africa and although dormant, this stratovolcano could very well erupt again as the last major eruption occurred between 150,000 and 200,000 years ago.

10. Eye of the Sahara
The Eye of the Sahara aka Richat Structure is located in the Sahara desert of west-central Mauritania. It’s an incredible structure consisting of volcanic rocks, lava flows and carbonatites. Scientists once thought the dome was created by an asteroid impact, but now they say it is a deeply eroded geologic dome. Regardless of the exact cause of this natural wonder, it is certainly an incredible sight to behold!

Strange Natural Wonders Around The World

Check out 5 of the world's strangest natural wonders.

Our planet is gifted with numerous natural wonders. Here are 5 of the strangest natural wonders.

Number 5 -- Located in Southwest Bolivia is the world's largest salt flat called Salar de Uyuni. Tens of thousands of years ago, a prehistoric lake dried up leaving behind 10 billion tons of salt in an expanse that encompasses more than 4,000 square miles. The area is also home to the largest lithium reserves and thousands of flamingos.

Number 4 -- Pamukkale, Turkey houses hot springs known as the Travertine Pools. The waters here are said to be good for the skin and eyes, and supposedly a remedy for asthma as well. Over a dozen subterranean hot springs contain carbonate mineral deposits which have created the pristine white slow moving rock formations.

Number 3 -- The mysterious sailing stones of Racetrack Playa in Death Valley leave evidence of their travels. The rocks, some weighing hundreds of pounds move across the dry lake bed leaving streaks or drag-like marks in the dusty ground. No one has ever seen the rocks move and there are only theories as to how it happens at the moment.

Number 2 -- In Western Egypt resides the White Desert. Massive, white rocks in varying shapes and sizes resemble melting snowmen. The White Desert gets its name from large amounts of chalk in its sands. Besides an eerily beautiful panorama, there are fascinating chalk formations in the desert.

Number 1 -- The Moeraki Boulders dominate a beach in New Zealand. They are large and almost perfectly circular rocks. Completely natural, boulders like these are only found in a handful of other places worldwide. The rocks tend to have hollow centers and a series of cracks radiating outwards.

10 Amazing Natural Wonders to See Before You Die

1. Chile's El Tatio Geysers:
In northern Chile, high up in the Atacama Desert, a series of geysers make up one of the most alien-looking places on Earth. Due to the extremely high altitudes of 13,800 feet, water here boils at only 186.8 degrees Fahrenheit and what is spewed out is the only water found in the entire region. The hills and mountains surrounding the El Tatio geyser field go up another 5,580 feet, adding to the eerie-looking landscape. The narrow runways through which water flows away from the geysers is teeming with heat-resistant algae and bacteria, giving the ground a rainbow colored appearance.

2. Huanglong Natural Reserve in China:
Known to the Chinese as “the Yellow Dragon,” Huanglong Natural Reserve is a two mile long valley, hidden deep in the northernmost extremity of Sichuan province in China. Located at the intersection of four major floral regions (the sub-tropical and tropical regions of the Northern Hemisphere, Eastern Asia, and the Himalayas), Huanglong is home to a large concentration of different species of plants in a relative small area of land. Golden snub-nosed monkeys, Asian black bears, leopards, Pallas’s cats, Tibetan antelope, and Giant Pandas can also be found here.

3. The Antelope Canyon in the American Southwest:
Called by many photographers “a celebration of the eye, mind, and spirit,” Antelope Canyon in Arizona makes for one of the most complex and intricate ensembles of beauty in the world. A long time ago, herds of pronghorn antelope roamed freely in and around Antelope Canyon, which explains the canyon’s name. Walking through it, one can experience the amazing color show in an array of red, orange, blue, and violet. The further in you go, the greater the contrast between light and darkness becomes, bringing out the rounded shapes of the canyon itself.

4.Lake Baikal in Russia:
Hidden deep within the Siberian wilderness, Lake Baikal is the ninth largest lake in the world in terms of surface area. What makes this huge lake stand out from all the rest is the fact that it holds one fifth of all fresh water available. With a maximum depth of one mile, it contains 14,300 cubic miles more water than all of the Great Lakes combined. Similar to Lake Tanganyika in Africa, Baikal formed more than 25 million years ago as a result of a rift in the planet’s crust. The many hot springs in the area indicate the region still being geologically active.

5. The Underground Rivers and Lakes of the Yucatan Peninsula:
Home to the Maya civilization, the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico is seemingly poor when it comes to fresh water. Well, this is just a trick on the area’s part, since most of its water is hidden underground. In fact, the entire peninsula is littered with over 3,000 cenotes, a word which derives from the Mayan “dzonot,” meaning “abyss.” These are nothing more than sinkholes which formed as a result of soft and porous limestone erosion, which covers the entire peninsula. While geologists see them as a maze of caverns, tunnels, underground rivers and lakes, the Mayans saw them as wells of life and gates to the afterlife.

6. The Valley Of Flowers in India:
India is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, packed with history and tradition, and should definitely be a travel destination for anyone who wants to do some globe trotting. But there is one place in particular, not known well by the general public, that should be among your first stops. The smallest national park in the Himalayan Mountains, the Valley of Flowers is an alpine gorge surrounded on all sides by snowy peaks. The absolutely amazing thing about this place is that in summer, the entire valley transforms into a huge carpet of flowers and herbs as far as the eye can see. Protected on all sides by mountains and hills, the Valley of Flowers has its own micro-climate, harboring life of all shapes and sizes.

7. The Danube Delta in Romania:
As Europe’s second longest river after the Volga in Russia, the Danube crosses through ten countries and four capital cities before it finally finds its way to the Black Sea in Romania. But before it actually reaches the shoreline, it breaks apart into three arms, in and around which the Danube Delta comes into existence. Some 5,000 years ago, this place was nothing more than a gulf in the Black Sea, but as time went on, the mighty river brought with it large quantities of silt, forming the largest and most pristine natural reserve in Europe. In fact, the delta grows by an estimated of 130 feet per year.

8. China's Sacred Mount Hua:
Going up some 7,217 feet into the air, Mount Hua (also called Huashan) is only the ninth tallest peak in the country, but nevertheless, is considered to be among the “five biggest mountains in China” due to its sheer steepness.
