LAHORE City in 8 Minutes | Tour Guide | New Developments 2020

LAHORE

Lahore لاہور‎, is the capital of the Pakistani province of Punjab. It is the country's second-most populous city after Karachi. Lahore is one of Pakistan's wealthiest cities, with an estimated GDP of $58.14 billion (PPP) as of 2015. Lahore is the largest city and historic cultural centre of the wider Punjab region, and is one of Pakistan's most socially liberal, progressive, and cosmopolitan cities.
Lahore's origins reach into antiquity. The city has been controlled by numerous empires throughout the course of its history, including the Hindu Shahis, Ghaznavids, Ghurids, and Delhi Sultanate by the medieval era. Lahore reached the height of its splendour under the Mughal Empire between the late 16th and early 18th century, and served as its capital city for a number of years. The city was captured by the forces of the Afsharid ruler Nader Shah in 1739, and fell into a period of decay while being contested between the Afghans and the Sikhs. Lahore eventually became capital of the Sikh Empire in the early 19th century, and regained much of its lost grandeur. Lahore was then annexed to the British Empire, and made capital of British Punjab. Lahore was central to the independence movements of both India and Pakistan, with the city being the site of both the declaration of Indian Independence, and the resolution calling for the establishment of Pakistan. Lahore experienced some of the worst rioting during the Partition period preceding Pakistan's independence. Following the success of the Pakistan Movement and subsequent independence in 1947, Lahore was declared capital of Pakistan's Punjab province.

Lahore exerts a strong cultural influence over Pakistan Lahore is a major center for Pakistan's publishing industry, and remains the foremost center of Pakistan's literary scene. The city is also a major centre of education in Pakistan, with some of Pakistan's leading universities based in the city. Lahore is also home to Pakistan's film industry, Lollywood, and is a major centre of Qawwali music. The city also hosts much of Pakistan's tourist industry, with major attractions including the Walled City, the famous Badshahi and Wazir Khan mosques and Sikh shrines. Lahore is also home to the Lahore Fort and Shalimar Gardens, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Orange Line is an automated rapid transit system in Lahore, Pakistan. The line is Pakistan's first metro train since the Karachi Circular Railway which had closed its operations during 1999. The Orange line is the first of the three proposed rail lines proposed for the Lahore Metro. The line spans 27.1 km (16.8 mi) with 25.4 km (15.8 mi) elevated and 1.72 km (1.1 mi) underground. The line is served by 26 stations and is expected to handle 250,000 passenger daily. It is a part of the wider CPEC China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Orange line is being financed by both the Government of Pakistan, and Government of China.
From Orange Line's northeastern terminus at Dera Gujjran, the track is elevated and runs in the median of the GT Road until Shalimar Station. From Dera Gujjran Station in northeast Lahore, the route travels 5.5 kilometres westward with stations at Islam Park, Salamatpura, Mahmood Booti, Pakistan Mint, and Shalimar Gardens. The track does not run in the GT Road's median near Shalimar Station - it instead turns and travels along the southern edge of the GT Road in order to bypass the garden in order to prevent damage to mature trees there.[47] Traveling west from Shalimar Station, the track returns to the median of GT Road, with stops at Baghbanpura, University of Engineering and Technology, and Sultanpura. From Sultanpura, the line then travel towards Lahore's central Junction Railway Station. From there, it travels southwest along McLeod road towards Lakshmi Chowk Station. The total distance from Sultanpura to Lakshmi Chowk is 2.5 km.[48]

Passengers from the Orange Line will be able to use Anarkali Station to transfer to the Lahore Metrobus stop at MAO College.
Leaving Lakshmi Chowk, the line travels southwest along McLeod Road, and descends into the 1.15 km underground portion that leads to the first underground station in the system, the Central Station. Central Station is located at the intersection of The Mall and McLeod Road, in front of Lahore's General Post Office (GPO) and the Lahore High Court. From Central Station, the line continues from McLeod Road and travels under Allah Baksh Road before turning south where the second underground station, Anarkali, is located. Connections from the Orange Line to the Lahore Metrobus will be available via an underground walkway. From Anarkali Station, the route continues under Jain Mandir and Lytton Road.

Chauburji perpendicular to Orange line tracks.
It then emerges along Lake Road and again travels above ground towards Chauburji Station.

Zoo Safari park Lahore/amazing place for picnic/ lions park/ animals and lions/iftikhar Ahmed Usmani

#amazing #explorepunjab #lionsightings

The species housed here include Indian peafowl, Bengal tiger, common pheasant, emu, lion, mute swan, nilgai, ostrich and silver pheasant among a few others. Largest walkthrough aviary of Pakistan is located in the Lahore Zoo Safari. Boating and fishing facilities have been developed near a lake.[1] The lake is the biggest in the city, complete with four islands. There are also safari tracks in the lion and Bengal tiger areas, covering an area of 80 acres (32 ha).[2] It has been recently renamed as Lahore Safari Zoo.

The Woodland Wildlife Park was established in 1981 over 242 acres (98 ha) as a government funded public facility. In 1998, it was handed over to the Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department (PWPD) by the Forest Department.[1] In 2004, the largest walkthrough aviary of Pakistan was constructed in Woodland Wildlife Park and opened to public visitors. Boating and fishing facilities were also built near a lake.[1] In 2006, Government of Pakistan sanctioned 87 million Pakistani rupees to reconstruct the 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) road leading to the wildlife park. This development increased the accessibility to the facility.[2]

The Government of Pakistan turned management of the wildlife park over to the Zoo Maintenance Committee (ZMC) headed by the Chairman of the PW PD.[3] Vice-chairman Taqeer Shah said this transfer of control was due to poor previous management that was not working to improve the park. A ticket system was introduced in the wildlife park so that the Lahore Zoo Safari could come a semi-autonomous, self-financed organization.[4] The park was extensively renovated and renamed Lahore Zoo Safari on January 21, 2009.[3] The wildlife park is now considered to be an extension of Lahore Zoo.

Lahore, Pakistan ➖ After a long, luxurious bus ride to Lahore, I finally arrived! I was so excited to be visiting Lahore as a lot of people have been telling me to explore this city. I knew I needed to get some local transport into town, so I rode a rickshaw going to the Luxus Grand hotel, which turned out to be affiliated with my hotel in Hunza I stayed at last time in Pakistan. The $70 room at the Luxus Grand was amazing - it was super affordable for a five-star hotel, had good facilities, and the staff were very friendly. After relaxing for a bit, I went out into the streets of Lahore to look for some dinner, and the first thing I found was some delicious Chicken Shami for only fifty cents! Whilst eating, I met some friendly locals who I had a great chat with. After exploring a bit more, I walked down the street to find snacks for my minibar.
