Discovering Tobago - A month in Paradise (4K)

This video is about a month spent in the idyllic village of Parlatuvier while exploring the exotic southern Caribbean island of Tobago (Trinidad and Tobago).

Tobago is a must visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Caribbean culture, world class beaches, stunning landscapes and friendly people.

Nat and I spent a month in peak season in Parlatuvier, a sleepy fishing village that offers visitors a quintessential, laid back base to experience some of the best Tobago has to offer. From picture perfect beaches to the many nearby restaurants in Castara and incredibly natural beauty at nearby waterfalls and UNESCO listed Main Ridge Forest Reserve.

Buying fish everyday direct from the fishermen, eating local cooked food and having guides turned friends take us around the island on a private tour made for a memorable stay. Only a few locals feature in this video but we're forever grateful for the many others in Parlatuvier that made us feel welcome from the day we arrived. They know who they are!

If you get the opportunity to visit this beautiful island, we'd strongly encourage you to do so. For now, hopefully this video can give you a taste of the Tobago experience.

Cheers

Ricky (and Nat)

To buy some fresh fish from Leeroy, Andrew and the other fishermen - head down to the local jetty 7 days a week. Normally in the afternoon.

To enjoy a delicious home cooked meal from Joanne - turn left at the beach and continue along the dirt road to the end. You’ll likely hear music coming from Joanne’s house.

We hope you enjoy this guide/vlog on our experience in wonderful Tobago.

TOBAGO: TRAVEL GUIDE Trinidad & Tobago - ALL top sights in 4K + Drone

In this video I take you on an adventure through the natural paradise of Tobago. The island is part of the country of Trinidad and Tobago, named after the two islands. Trinidad is busy, industrial, built-up and even a bit dangerous due to the amount of crime. Tobago, on the other hand, is an oasis of peace, where people still mainly live from fishing and now a small amount of tourism. The country is one big natural paradise. In this video I show you why Tobago is a surprisingly beautiful and unique destination, which is wrongly not often mentioned on lists of beautiful Caribbean islands. It is simply even more unknown and therefore so untouched and pure.

I visit Tobago with my wife and three year old son, on an island hopping adventure like no other through the Caribbean. This year we picked up the route in Martinique and from there we took the boat to Saint Lucia. From there we flew a small plane over the azure waters to Tobago. We sleep in a tree house between the jungle and the beach, see local fishermen at work and enjoy all the plants and animals all around us. From Castara we cross the rainforest to Argyle Falls, the most beautiful waterfall. We also visit Crown Point and Pigeon Point to the west and the most beautiful pristine beach at Englishman's Bay.

This year we are traveling all over the world and after the Canary Islands, Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique and Saint Lucia, Tobago is our sixth destination. Follow us on this world tour, first in the Caribbean and then to many more beautiful destinations! We travel non-stop all year round and film everything. Sailing Saoirse - Exploring Tobago ????

We finally get to explore Tobago.
After almost 5 months in Trinidad we finally made it to the blue waters of Tobago.
When arriving in Tobago we anchored in Mount Irvine Bay, a quiet little bay on the SW side of the island. We had to check in with customs and immigration (yes even though we were still in the same country) which is in Scarborough which is on the SE side of the island. Teagan and I took the dingy to shore, locked it up on a railing to the right of the life guard tower and restaurant and walked up the the main road.
There is a bus stop right there but we decided to try and get a ride share instead which was TT$ 9 each. Scarborough was about a 10 - 15 minute drive from mount Irvine.
We had to go to the Fairy/ Cruise ship Terminal and check in with Immigration first. The. You head out of the fairy terminal and east straight down the same road until you reach a Rituals Coffee and Churches Chicken on the left hand side of the road and you turn right, customs is a small building near where the huge red and white ferries park to offload people and cars.

The anchorage at mount Irvine bay was incredibly rolly while we were there. We had friends who were previously there and raved about how great and quiet it was. Unfortunately when we were there there was a funny system of swell coming from the North which made for big swells swooping through the anchorage.
The under water life and Mt Irvine was beautiful. There was lots of coral just in-front of the restaurant between the breakers and the still water. We also found incredible brain coral and life if you snorkel close to the rocks to the right of the hotel and dive shop. The reef comes up really shallow. The visibility wasn’t great and we put it down to the fact that there was a lot of swell coming through which could have been turning up a lot of sediment in the water.

We spent a day driving around Tobago with SY Puff - Kris and Ingrid. We managed to do almost the entire coast line of Tobago in a few hours - it’s not a hard thing to do because the island is so small ????

We stopped along the way at Shurland Hummingbird Viewpoint which overlooked a valley and the ocean. You pay TT$60 to be able to sit there at her beautiful look out, she gives you sugar water in your own individual containers so you can feed the hummingbirds. She also give you a piece of cake and a juice or coffee, we had opted for her fresh juice which was made of ginger, turmeric and lemon it was absolutely delicious!
There were so many hummingbirds the felt like flies around our heads, swooping around us, chasing each other, sipping sugar water from the feeders and stopping to check us out every now and then. It was such an incredible experience to be able to sit there and have wild hummingbirds so freely buzzing around you.

The roads in Tobago are narrow and windy, we are very grateful that Kris opted to drive!

Thank you for watching with us, if you enjoyed our video please give it a like and if you have any questions or comments please leave them bellow ????????????????????????????

Exploring uncharted Bays of Tobago ????????

While we were in Tobago we felt like we were running from impending waves and wind that the weather sites kept sending out yellow weather warnings about. We decided with the northerly swell and wind that was coming through and the prediction of 3m breaking waves on the north facing shorelines of Tobago - we would head over to the windward side. Because of the highly unusual weather pattern there wasn’t much information that we could find on any of the bays on the windward side.
Luckily S/Y Puff was sitting in the same predicament as us and we decided to sit down together and discuss options. We decided to move around to Store Bay where a local charter company said we would be more protected but would need to anchor out in 20m of water. We anchored in 8m of water and decided to spend the night and figure out if it would provide the protection we needed. Store Bay did not! There was a lot of bouncing and rocking through the night so we pulled up the anchor and headed around to Barbados Bay - a beautiful, quiet and completely flat little bay. We hadn’t experienced such beautiful conditions since arriving in Tobago. There was a little fishing house to our one side that happily helped with watching our dingy and offering us fresh water to fill the yacht. We spent 2 nights here and then decided to make our way up the windward coastline with the plan to cross to Carriacou when the weather allowed.
We moved up to Kings Bay. A beautiful still bay with no swell at all. The water looked like a mirror and we all battled to sleep with how quiet and still the yacht was! It was very unusual for us all ???? we were the only ones in the huge beautiful bay.

It was a sad goodbye to Trinidad and Tobago when we finally left their shorelines, we had made beautiful friends and met amazing people over our time there. While sailing away we were sent off with the most beautiful pod of dolphins escorting us out of the Trinidad and Tobago waters ????

I followed a Stranger to Visit Tobago Countryside # Trinidad & Tobago Ep.30

Tobago is an island in the southern Caribbean, located northeast of Trinidad and Tobago. Together with Trinidad, it forms the twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Tobago is known for its beautiful beaches, coral reefs, and tropical rainforests. The island has a diverse cultural heritage influenced by African, Indian, European, and indigenous traditions.

Tourism is a significant industry in Tobago, attracting visitors with its natural beauty, water activities, and historical sites. Popular attractions include Pigeon Point Beach, Buccoo Reef, Argyle Waterfall, and Fort King George. The island also hosts events such as the Tobago Jazz Experience, showcasing local and international musical talent.

Tobago has a smaller population compared to Trinidad and is generally known for its more laid-back atmosphere, making it a destination for those seeking a quieter and more relaxed Caribbean experience.

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO - Welcome to Port of Spain, the Capital of Trinidad and Tobago islands in the Caribbean! I’m so excited to finally be here. So many of you have written to me over the years inviting me to visit for the amazing food and culture, so it’s really an honor to finally be here and to explore the incredible food. Let’s get started eating, we’re jumping straight into a massive 20 hour day of eating local street food!

Huge thank you to #visitTrinidad for inviting me to Trinidad and Tobago and for making this trip happen!

Friends in the video:
Zaak (Foodie Tales with Zaak):
Baidawi (Eatahfood):
David (D’Market Movers):
Brent (Hungry Belly 868):

And here’s everything we did in the video, and all the food we ate:

Central Market - We started off today at the Central Market in Port of Spain, bright and early in the morning before 7 am. And with Baidawi and David, who go to the market every weekend to do their shopping and have breakfast, we were in the right hands. After exploring the market and the amazing produce and ingredients that go into food in Trinidad and Tobago we then headed to the food court for some local fish broth and cow heel soup.

EatAhFood - Baidawi makes fantastic food videos, especially recipes, and so we bought ingredients and headed back to his house to cook Callaloo, an Afro Caribbean food of simmered down taro leaves and pumpkin and coconut milk. It was so good!

Roti - One of the greatest of all Trinidadian foods is roti - different from anywhere else. The rotis are huge and fresh and then stuffed with pumpkin, potato, and curry of your choice. An afternoon bulging roti with Zaak, was absolutely delicious.

Queens Park Savannah - Port of Spain - To continue on with this street food tour in Trinidad and Tobago, we went to Queens Park Savannah for a coconut and then continued on to the evening street food market to sample a bunch of different local foods - everything from doubles to pholourie and roast fish.

Yousef Gyro ( - Trinidad and Tobago is so diverse and there’s even a local Middle Eastern population including Yousef Gyro, owned by descendants of Syrian immigrants. They make all sorts of wraps and gyros and combinations you won’t find anywhere else. This is the ultimate late night food in Trinidad!

Dass Doubles Factory ( - We did have a quick doubles at the street food night market, but we went to Dass Doubles Factory for the real deal late night doubles. They made the barras fresh and load them up with heavy peppa sauce and delicious curry chickpeas.

Hadco Phase II Pan Groove Orchestra Pan Yard ( - Finally to complete this day we were treated to a panyard lime to see the ultimate instrument of Trinidad and Tobago - steel pan! It was so cool to see and an amazing way to wrap up this ultimate street food tour - and they have delicious food!

Again, thank you to everyone who made this video possible and to #visitTrinidad!

I am here to show you the beauty of my country TRINIDAD & TOBAGO and the world on my travels!

At 175 feet (54 metres), Argyle, Tobago’s highest waterfall attracts locals and foreigners to its cascade of cool, crisp water that flows down from three dramatic levels. Located on the northeast side of Tobago, the falls are just outside Roxborough, on the Scarborough road (only a few hundred metres from the road to Bloody Bay along the Caribbean coast). The Roxborough Visitor Service Co-op office serves as the entrance. Encircled by lush green foliage, the waterfall is accessed after a 15-20 minute trek along a clearly marked trail. Along the way you are greeted by butterflies and a variety of birds. But before heading off you must pay an entrance fee of TT$60 at the office. If you wish you can hire a guide for an additional fee. With 3 levels, the thunderous sound of the waterfall is heard long before you see it. The height of the first cascade hides the real splendor of Argyle’s upper levels. If you are adventurous you can hike up a bushy path on the right hand side to the second level, where you are greeted by a thick mist. At this level, you can lie in several natural rock tubs and let the water rush over your body. Finally, going further the third pool, though the smallest is the deepest and the best for swimming, inviting you to dive, jump or swing into the water from available vines.

Solo Exploring Natural Pools Above Trinidad's Blue Basin | Trinidad & Tobago, Caribbean Sea

During our time living in Trinidad we've hiked around the island and visited many different jungle waterfalls; this time it's Blue Basin!

Located in the back of Diego Martin, we've visited Blue Basin a few times over the past year and have been impressed with the natural beauty of the river. This time, I decided to go ahead and see how far up the river I could get. I was not prepared for how blue the stone really was, or how clear the water could be. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon in the Trinidadian jungle and is somewhere to go when visiting Trinidad for a holiday and yacht haul out.

During the video see if you can spot the @TradeMutt shirt, marking what we think might be the first appearance of a TradeMutt shirt in the Caribbean! They're an Australian work wear company that creates loud and colourful work shirts designed to start a conversation around men's mental health.

♡ Visiting TOBAGO 2022 | Explore, Adventure & Travel ♡

Tobago - Scarborough | Milford Road | Shirvan Road | Buccoo | Mt Irvine | Plymouth Road | Bad Hill

Taking the long way home. Instead of an 8 minute drive, it's actually 30 minutes but it's a much more scenic route. We'll make our way from Scarborough down the Old Milford Road, briefly onto the Claude Noel Highway, then across the Shirvan Road. In the future, we will venture into Buccoo, Plymouth, Black Rock and some other interesting areas.
