Tinos | The miracle of Cyclades 4K
The enchanting Tinos island is located in the Cyclades island group, 20 minutes away from Mykonos by ferry. This is where the spiritual heart of Greece beats, in the church of Panagia Megalochari! In addition to its religious atmosphere, the island is known for the traditional architecture of its villages and its charming sandy beaches. In this video I present you some of the best places on the island I visited in the last 9 days of August 2022. Enjoy!

Tinos Island - Greece
A tour of Tinos Island, Greece
Tinos Island is not somewhere that attracts the mass tourism that some of its Cyclades neighbours experience. However, it was recently highlighted by the Greek government to showcase the smaller islands in an effort to manage the challenges of over-tourism. So now is the perfect time to visit, & avoid the crowds even at peak times!
Tinos is just a 30-minute ferry ride from Mykonos. The best thing to do on Tinos is explore some of the villages, either on a bus tour or using your own transport. I took a bus tour, which as you can see for €15 for the day, was a bargain! Just pick it up from the main bus station at the port from 11am.
Join me on the tour as I discover the background to Tinos’ claim to fame as one of the key pilgrimage sites in Greece. We visit the monastery, the villages of Volax, Pyrgos & Panormos. Where else can you meet an over-friendly pelican & wait at a marble bus stop?

Tinos is a Greek island situated in the Aegean Sea. It is located in the Cyclades archipelago. The closest islands are Andros, Delos, and Mykonos. It has a land area of 194.464 square kilometres (
Tinos is famous amongst Greeks for the Church of Panagia Evangelistria, its 80 or so windmills, about 1,000 artistic dovecotes, 50 active villages and its Venetian fortifications at the mountain, Exomvourgo. On Tinos, both Greek Orthodox and Catholic populations co-exist, and the island is also well known for its sculptors and painters, such as Nikolaos Gysis, Yannoulis Chalepas and Nikiforos Lytras.
The island is located near the geographical center of the Cyclades island complex, and because of the Panagia Evangelistria church, with its reputedly miraculous icon of Virgin Mary that it holds, Tinos is also the center of a yearly pilgrimage that takes place on the date of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary (15 August, Dekapentavgoustos in Greek). Many pilgrims make their way the 800 metres (2,600 feet) from the ferry wharf to the church on their hands and knees as sign of devotion.

Tinos Cyklades Greece
Tinos (Greek: Τήνος) is a Greek island situated in the Aegean Sea.
Tinos is famous amongst Greeks for the Church of Panagia Evangelistria.
The island is located near the geographical center of the Cyclades island complex, and because of the Panagia Evangelistria church, with its reputedly miraculous icon of Virgin Mary that it holds, Tinos is also the center of a yearly pilgrimage that takes place on the date of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary (August 15, Dekapentavgoustos in Greek).

A day in TINOS, Greece
In this episode, I am visiting the island of Tinos for a day. Im just going with the flow, without a plan, capturing footages of the routes and places I visited.
Overall, Tinos is a very relaxed island, not so busy with tourism, which I found to be very nice. Hopefully you will enjoy this episode, and maybe you yourself would like to visit this beautiful and peaceful island one day.
I find it to be the perfect getaway from the troubles of life, something about the place that makes me feel peaceful.
