Lost Civilizations: The Aztecs | Full Documentary

The Aztecs, or Mexicas (from their capital city’s name, Mexico-Tenochtitlan) settled around the beginning of the 14th century.

Built between the 1st and 7th centuries, Teotihuacan is characterized by the massive dimensions of its monuments, the most famous of which are the temple of Quetzalcoatl and the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon.

The name of the site, which means “place inhabited by the gods,” was given by the Aztecs, who considered this city a sacred place, even if it had been abandoned for several centuries when their civilization began to develop it.

Teotihuacan, one of the most powerful centers of Meso-American culture, imposed their cultural and artistic elan over the entire region, and even beyond its borders.

In the 16th century, the Aztec Empire had a flourishing economy, represented by the wealth of its capital city, Tenochtitlan, the current Mexico-city.

Human sacrifice was a common and essential ritual. It held multiple political and religious functions. Human sacrifice was considered necessary to the well-being and balance of the cosmos.

On the 18th of February 1519, the conquistador Hernan Cortez lands on the Yucatan coasts. At first considered a superhuman by the Aztecs, he is given priceless gifts.

Historians speak of solid gold bracelets, a crocodile’s head made of solid gold, and bird sculptures made of feathers and precious stones.

After this first peaceful meeting, the Spanish triggers hostilities. Grouping rival tribes, he planned out the invasion. The death of their sovereign in June 1520 and massacres fired up Aztec upheaval.

In spite of one defeat during the “noche triste”, the invaders definitively crushed this civilisation on the 13th of August 1521, leaving their capital city in ruins.

Jade from Guatemala documentary of Patrick Voillot

Japanese :
In the 16th Century, when the conquistadors led by Cortéz were pillaging his country, Moctezuma, the Aztec emperor, is supposed to have said : « Fortunately these foolish invaders are only interested in gold ; not in our jade ! »

In Guatemala the pre-Columbian Indians, the Mayas in particular, for centuries considered jade to be a sacred stone. They made many objects from it, masks in particular, but it was also a currency for barter.

This film takes you on a veritable archeological adventure.

After much research, two North American archeologists succeeded in finding the exact location of the ancient Indian jade mines which had fallen into oblivion for five centuries.

Through this film you will be privileged to access the Cancuén archeological site which is being excavated. Here, on the route of the Maya jade, archeologists have recently discovered the antique city of a powerful lord who had built a jade industry and who sold the jade in the city-states of the Maya world.

Tikal is on of those cities. It is covered over by the Peten jungles and was abandoned well before the arrival of the conquistadors. In this film the city reveals some of its secrets and treasures.

Have you dreamt of going into the reserves of one of the most famous archeological museums in the world ? By following this documentary adventure you will enter the museum of Guatemala Ciudad where the jade jewelry, the steles, the potteries and mummies are part of the decor.

Antigua is the colonial town preserved from the ravages of time and the surrounding volcanoes. It shelters factories manufacturing copies of ancient jade objects as well as modern jewels.

In this film you will be introduced by a master craftsman to an ancestral custom – that of engraving intaglio on a gem, particularly jade which will be used in the creation of a jewel.

The Maya Civilization - Did the Mayans truly predict the end of the world?

Did the Mayans truly predict the end of the world? Or have we been looking at their prophecies incorrectly all along?

Was the Mayan prediction about the end of the world in 2012 never really made? During her journeys in the jungles of the Yucatan Peninsula and Guatemala, filmmaker and journalist Elisabeth Thieriot meets Mayan abuelos who dispel the myths about the dystopian controversy theories often associated with the Mayan Calendar. Along the way, the film also deep dives into the mystery of the Baqtun, also known as the measurement of time that the Mayans identified as a 3,300-year cycle.

Calakmul, Maya Pyramids Of The Snake Kingdom. Mexico - Mystic Places

Mystic Places, Magical Mystery Tour- Documentary series explores Calakmul, which is a Maya archaeological site in the Mexican state of Campeche, deep in the jungles of the greater Petén Basin region. It is 35 kilometres (22 mi) from the Guatemalan border. Calakmul was one of the largest and most powerful ancient cities ever uncovered in the Maya lowlands.

Calakmul was a major Maya power within the northern Petén region of the Yucatán of southern Mexico. Calakmul administered a large domain marked by the extensive distribution of their emblem glyph of the snake head sign, to be read Kaan. Calakmul was the seat of what has been dubbed the Kingdom of the Snake[1] or Snake Kingdom. This Snake Kingdom reigned during most of the Classic period. Calakmul itself is estimated to have had a population of 50,000 people and had governance, at times, over places as far away as 150 kilometers. There are 6,750 ancient structures identified at Calakmul; the largest of which is the great pyramid at the site. Structure 2 is over 45 metres (148 ft) high, making it one of the tallest of the Maya pyramids. Four tombs have been located within the pyramid. Like many temples or pyramids within Mesoamerica the pyramid at Calakmul increased in size by building upon the existing temple to reach its current size. The size of the central monumental architecture is approximately 2 square kilometres (0.77 sq mi) and the whole of the site, mostly covered with dense residential structures, is about 20 square kilometres (7.7 sq mi).

Throughout the Classic Period, Calakmul maintained an intense rivalry with the major city of Tikal to the south, and the political manoeuvrings of these two cities have been likened to a struggle between two Maya superpowers.

- In Maya, ca means two, lak means adjacent, and mul signifies any artificial mound or pyramid, so Calakmul is the City of the Two Adjacent Pyramids.] In ancient times the city core was known as Ox Te' Tuun, meaning Three Stones. Another name associated with the site, and perhaps a larger area around it, is Chiik Naab'. The lords of Calakmul identified themselves as k'uhul kaanal ajaw, Divine Lords of the Snake.

Structure 1 (or Structure I) is a 50 metres (160 ft) high pyramid to the east of the site core.[80] A number of stelae were erected at its base by Yuknoom Took' K'awiil in 731. Because it was built on a low hill, Structure 1 appears to be higher than Structure 2, although this is not the case.

Structure 2 (or Structure II) is a massive north-facing pyramid temple, one of the largest in the Maya world. Its base measures 120 metres (390 ft) square and it stands over 45 metres (148 ft) high. In common with many temple pyramids in the Mesoamerican cultural region, the pyramid at Calakmul increased in size by building upon the pre-existing temple in order to increase its bulk. The core of the building (Structure 2A) is a triadic pyramid dating to the Late Preclassic period, with this ancient building still forming the highest point of the structure. In the Early Classic a massive extension was added to the front of the pyramid, covering an earlier stucco-covered building on the north side. Three new shrines were built upon this extension (Structures 2B, 2C and 2D), each of these shrines had its own access stairway. Structure 2B was the central shrine, 2C was to the east and 2D to the west. The facade possessed six large masks set between these stairways, three arranged vertically on each side of the central stairway. Structure 2 is similar in date, size and design to the El Tigre pyramid at El Mirador, and associated ceramics are also similar. At a later time buildings were erected along the base of the facade, each of these contained stelae. In the 8th century AD, Structure 2B was entombed under a large pyramid and a stepped facade covered the giant masks. Later another facade was built over this 8th century stepped frontage but it may never have been finished. In the Late Classic a nine-room palace was built on top of the pyramid, supporting a roof comb that had painted stucco bas-relief decoration. The rooms were arranged in three groups of three, each room positioned behind the next. The entire Late Classic palace measured 19.4 by 12 metres (64 by 39 ft). The front two rows of rooms (Rooms 1 through to 6) were used for food preparation, metates and hearths were found in each of them. Room 7, the southwest room, was a sweatbath.

John Major Jenkins - Maya Temples: Time, Astronomy, & Spiritual Teachings FULL LECTURE

Megalithomania just heard that the legendary John Major Jenkins has passed on. He was a brilliant author on all things 'Maya' and spoke at two Megalithomania Conferences. One in the USA and one in Glastonbury, UK, both in 2011. He will be missed. You can see his excellent lecture from the UK conference above and his comprehensive 2012 lecture here:

Subscribe here: Click here: to get the full DVD and MP4/MP3 downloads. John Major Jenkins is an independent researcher who has devoted himself to reconstructing ancient Mayan cosmology and philosophy. Since 1986, John has traveled to Mexico and Central America over twenty times. Living and working with Maya groups while studying ancient Maya cosmology. John has authored hundreds of articles and many books, including Maya Cosmogenesis 2012, Galactic Alignment and The 2012 Story. His latest research explores the astronomical content of the now-famous Tortuguero Monument 6, our only Classic Period 2012 inscription. His talk at Megalithomania gave an insightful overview of the early Mayan pyramids and temples, exploring evidence that back up his discoveries which have led to a breakthrough into understanding the scientific and spiritual principles at the core of Mayan mythology. He also looked at the ancient Olmecs, that pre-dated the Mayans and how the famous Long Count calendar could have originally been developed.

Palenque (Lakamha) Zona Arqueológica Maya | Chiapas México -Tomb of the Maya Astronaut Pakal Votan

- Palenque, Mayan Archaeological Site -

Palenque (Spanish pronunciation: [pa'leŋke]; Yucatec Maya: Bàakʼ [ɓaːkʼ]), also anciently known as Lakamha (literally: Big Water), was a Maya city state in southern Mexico that perished in the 7th century. The Palenque ruins date from ca. 226 BC to ca. 799 AD. After its decline, it was overgrown by the jungle of cedar, mahogany, and sapodilla trees, but has since been excavated and restored. It is located near the Usumacinta River in the Mexican state of Chiapas, about 130 km (81 mi) south of Ciudad del Carmen, 150 meters (490 ft) above sea level. It averages a humid 26 °C (79 °F) with roughly 2,160 millimeters (85 in) of rain a year.

Palenque is a medium-sized site, smaller than Tikal, Chichen Itza, or Copán, but it contains some of the finest architecture, sculpture, roof comb and bas-relief carvings that the Mayas produced. Much of the history of Palenque has been reconstructed from reading the hieroglyphic inscriptions on the many monuments; historians now have a long sequence of the ruling dynasty of Palenque in the 5th century and extensive knowledge of the city-state's rivalry with other states such as Calakmul and Toniná. The most famous ruler of Palenque was K'inich Janaab Pakal, or Pacal the Great, whose tomb has been found and excavated in the Temple of the Inscriptions.

By 2005, the discovered area covered up to 2.5 km2 (1 sq mi), but it is estimated that less than 10% of the total area of the city is explored, leaving more than a thousand structures still covered by jungle. Palenque received 920,470 visitors in 2017

History
Mythological beings using a variety of emblem glyphs in their titles suggests a complex early history. For instance, Kʼukʼ Bahlam I, the supposed founder of the Palenque dynasty, is called a Toktan Ajaw in the text of the Temple of the Foliated Cross.

The famous structures that we know today probably represent a rebuilding effort in response to the attacks by the city of Calakmul and its client states in 599 and 611. One of the main figures responsible for rebuilding Palenque and for a renaissance in the city's art and architecture is also one of the best-known Maya Ajaw, Kʼinich Janaabʼ Pakal (Pacal the Great), who ruled from 615 to 683. He is known through his funerary monument dubbed the Temple of Inscriptions, after the lengthy text preserved in the temple's superstructure. At the time Alberto Ruz Lhuillier excavated Pakal's tomb, it was the richest and best preserved of any scientifically excavated burial then known from the ancient Americas. It held this position until the discovery of the rich Moche burials at Sipan, Peru and the recent discoveries at Copan and Calakmul.

A bas-relief in the Palenque museum that depicts Upakal K'inich, the son of K'inich Ahkal Mo' Naab III.
Beside the attention that K'inich Janaab' Pakal's tomb brought to Palenque, the city is historically significant for its extensive hieroglyphic corpus composed during the reigns of Janaab' Pakal, his son Kʼinich Kan Bahlam II, and his grandson K'inich Akal Mo' Naab', and for being the location where Heinrich Berlin and later Linda Schele and Peter Mathews outlined the first dynastic list for any Maya city. The work of Tatiana Proskouriakoff as well as that of Berlin, Schele, Mathews, and others, initiated the intense historical investigations that characterized much of the scholarship on the ancient Maya from the 1960s to the present. The extensive iconography and textual corpus has also allowed for study of Classic period Maya mythology and ritual practice.

Chichén Itzá, Pyramid of Kukulkan & Mayan Ruins. Mexico - Mystic Places

Chichén Itzá, from Yucatec Maya: Chi'ch'èen Ìitsha' (at the mouth of the well of the Itza) was a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya people of the Terminal Classic period. The archaeological site is located in the municipality of Tinum, in the Mexican state of Yucatán.

Chichen Itza was a major focal point in the Northern Maya Lowlands from the Late Classic (c. AD 600–900) through the Terminal Classic (c. AD 800–900) and into the early portion of the Postclassic period (c. AD 900–1200). The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico and of the Puuc and Chenes styles of the Northern Maya lowlands. The presence of central Mexican styles was once thought to have been representative of direct migration or even conquest from central Mexico, but most contemporary interpretations view the presence of these non-Maya styles more as the result of cultural diffusion.

Chichen Itza was one of the largest Maya cities and it was likely to have been one of the mythical great cities, or Tollans, referred to in later Mesoamerican literature.

The city may have had the most diverse population in the Maya world, a factor that could have contributed to the variety of architectural styles at the site.

The next greatest story ever Told. Tikal of Star Wars .

The STAR WARS movies were actually documentaries, PEOPLE WITHIN SECRET SOCIETY ARE SWORN TO SECRECY, but they do want to tell humanity, so they tell you in a fantasy type movie to warn you of the past and returning problems of the world today, the FORCE is with humanity, and can’t be controlled. Awaken again humanity, tap into the force again start to release what the empire is attempting again, absolute control over you.
EVERYTHING is being conditioned to make you accept cash is dirty and the new digital currencies are the future. The Cashless society is the final plan of the dooms day book. It’s all about watching everything you do and taking more of your money from every single movement of it.
This is the story of it all.
Here’s how it all started.
The empire and the rebels of the Mayan.
The domesday project.
Some of STAR WARS was filmed at Tikal, Guatemala. It was the home to the rebel base and the location of the final Victory party over the dark side. But what they don’t tell you in the movie is why this area was used. It was used because this is where the crystal skulls were activated again.
Spurned by God in the form of the vicar of Christ on earth, the Pope, and spurning God in their turn, the Knights Templars banded together in secret and formed what was to become known as Freemasonry. Now, the legend goes that Freemasonry sprang up from ancient stonecutters, guilds, and the men who built the stone buildings of the age. But Freemason actually comes from the French: phree messen, which literally means, The Sons of Light. From the light of knowledge contained in the Crystal skulls. Which light is that, it may not just be the light of Christ in this situation. But It is also the light of the fallen angel of light, who brought the crystal skulls, for when they were forsaken by the church, Christ vicar on earth, the Pope, they spurned God and turned to Lucifer. They held to the Luciferian philosophy that the gift of intellect by Lucifer, through his agent Satan, would in its turn make man god. These men were always on the run. They took the hidden Templar wealth and built a financial empire that stands to this day is the most powerful on the earth. Jews, who had traditionally been persecuted throughout Europe, flocked to the hidden Temple, for there they could believe as they wished and worshiped whatever god they wished, for all were welcome. Many of the Templars running, flocked to England and to Scotland, where they fought for Robert the Bruce, who was engaged in an intense battle with the King of England.
Now portions of these battles were caused by the writings of the doomsday book. The survey's main purpose was to determine what taxes had been owed during the reign of King Edward the Confessor, thereby allowing William to reassert the rights of the Crown and assess where power lay after a wholesale redistribution of land following the Norman conquest.
The assessors' reckoning of a man's holdings and their values, as recorded in Domesday Book, was dispositive and without appeal. The name Domesday Book came into use in the 12th century.
Now. King William the Lion, who was born in 1165 and died in 1214, had a daughter, Isabel of Scotland. Well, Isabel married a certain Robert Rose [Roos] . Robert Rose [Roos] was a Knights Templar who was heavily involved in the first efforts -- and was very successful -- at international banking. Plus, he established the first overt and covert international intelligence gathering organization which all, all subsequent intelligence organizations had been based upon since. His son, Sir William Roos, and his daughter, Lucy Roos, figure prominently in the story to follow. Lucy married Sir Robert Plumpton. They sired two children: Sir William Plumpton and Alice Plumpton.
And who I’m I to say.
