Sleeping beauty // what 1200 BAHT (USD $35) gets you at Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai, Thailand (2016)

The BABY TIGER CUBS or NEW BORN section of the Tiger Kingdom outside Chiang Mai (about 10-15km away from the city) is not subject to combo offers; you must pay separately for this ticket to play with baby tiger cubs and it's the most expensive option available.

It is also subject to availability (call the same day or the day before to check for availability, especially if this is your main interest).

For 1,200 BATH (more or less USD $35) - as seen here - you get to spend less than 5 minutes with one of the baby tigers (who was asleep ALL this time!).

The photographer on location (using a Nikon camera) will take your picture during the encounter. Waiting on location, about 10-15 min later, you get to choose from 3-5 pictures; and the selected one (1) will be giving to you framed (as part of the 1,200 BAHT that you paid to visit this baby tiger section).

NOTE: They will not save it for you on your own SD card or memory stick (we asked and where told it's not included; can't do it -- talking about the complimentary framed photo).

Found it strange that you leave with a nice picture but the tiger's eyes are closed... and you play with this little beauty while she's asleep...

There is one more baby tiger on the premises (making a total of 2). However, the day that we visited, it was in quarantine (sick with diarrhea); hence, unavailable.

Both BABY TIGERS, including the one pictured here (a baby girl called AaaM), were 3 month old at the end of May 2016.

Know that the SMALL TIGERS are a different category; those are about the size of a pet (dog).

NOTE: Sometimes, it takes longer for you to get in this somehow popular section... There is A/C inside the little room though and white, hotel-type slippers are provided (you leave your shoes outside, at the door)... you can wait seating on the little bench or standing - your call!

INSTRUCTIONS received during out visit:

If you gently stroke the cats,it will feel ticklish and irritated, especially to a sleeping tiger. The best method is to cuddle and stroke the cat firmly to make it feel comfortable.

*** Best offer? TAKE TWO (meaning you save about 100-200 BATH per package... for less than USD $30 or 1,000 BATH you chose your package/ combo: either small and big; or medium and small... NO complimentary framed picture included here though).

Please make sure that you will arrive before 5pm because the tiger park will close around 6pm then you will still have enough time (around 1hr) to visit the tiger in the cage.

They open daily at 9:00AM.

The tiger Kingdom, Chang Mai
Baby playing with a cub.

Travel makes you come across many interesting stories. On my visit to Chiang Mai I was amazed to see that a two month tiger cub was playing with a six month baby girl. So I realised that the most important thing in the world is the language of love. It was one of the best thing I had ever seen.

A visit to Tiger Temple Thailand from Bangkok.Info Yvonne cuddles a tiger at the temple and then goes on to tickle a BIG ONE! Khancanabury Tiger Temple is a Buddhist monastery. If you've been why not add your comments below!

In 1999, the Thailand tiger temple Bangkok received its very first tiger cub, that was discovered by villagers and it died soon after. Later, several tiger cubs were received and have grown to over 21 cubs born in the temple, and the final amount of tigers is about 12 adult tigers and 4 cubs. Lately March 2011, the entire quantity of tigers living in the temple has risen to just about 90.

The Tiger Temple Bangkok Thailand is a forest monastery and practices a conservative philosophy. No alcohol is permitted on-site and appropriate clothing should be worn by women covering their shoulders and knees so they won't offend the monks inside the site. No vibrant colours such as red-colored clothes, no sleeveless or bustier tops or shorts/small skirts for ladies.

The temple charges 600 Baht admission (fee correct at March 2011). Excursions can also be found from Bangkok and the journey takes 2-2.5hours. The temple has 300 to 600 site visitors each day. You will find donation boxes in a variety of locations round the temple for individuals who would like to offer gifts to the sanctuary.

Site visitors can also pay for being volunteers at the tigers' morning or evening exercise programme. No more than 20 visitors can be accommodated in this exercise per day. It costs about 100 USD per tiger daily for that tigers' feeding and care. You will find western staff on-site selling extra services to raise money even though handlers are usually local Thai women.

At Thailand tiger temple Bangkok visitors may also pay to take part in alternative activities with the tigers. Included is the bottle feeding of tiger cubs, working out with adolescent tigers, bathing tigers, hand-feeding tigers and sleeping with adult tigers.

The tigers are cleaned and handled by Thai monks, worldwide volunteers and local native staff. Daily they're taken with leashes to a nearby quarry. Initially they'd roam around freely in the temple but with the rise in site visitors and the quantity of tigers who sit within the canyon, they are now chained for safety reasons.

Tiger Temple Bangkok Thailand employees carefully guide site visitors because as they greet, sit with, and pet the tigers. Employees keep the tigers in check and also the abbot himself will intervene when the tigers get irritated.

Nervous vacationers can observe everything from about 10 metres away. The temple says the entry fee is perfect for feeding and upkeep of the tigers, and also to fund the building of a bigger tiger sanctuary. This will permit the tigers to reside in a nearly natural atmosphere all day long.
Certain areas of the new Thailand tiger temple Bangkok sanctuary are open and lived in by the tigers, i.e. Tiger Falls along with other parts continue to be in construction because they are waiting for the best kind of fencing round the moat.

The Tiger Temple Bangkok Thailand is also reforesting a lot of land nearby ('Buddhist Park') to be able to give the tigers an opportunity to be launched back into the wild later on.
Because of the lack of good breeding programmes and openly available DNA data the pedigree from the tigers isn't known for sure, but it's thought that they're Indochinese Tigers, except Mek who's a Bengal Tiger. There's additionally a possibility there might be a few of the recently discovered Malayan Tigers it is likely that lots of tigers are mix breeds or hybrid cats. Whatever they are Thailand tiger temple Bangkok will not close its doors.
