Street Food in Tibet - ULTIMATE TIBETAN FOOD TOUR + Amazing Potala Palace in Lhasa!

Thank you to for hosting me on my trip to Tibet!
????Thai Food - 1.5 Years Waiting List:
????T-shirts and caps:

Lhasa, Tibet - Lhasa is one of the most important cities in Tibet, and a home of Tibetan food and culture. In this video we’re going on an ultimate Tibetan street food tour of Lhasa, and additionally we’ll visit the Potala Palace and some of the most significant cultural sights in the city. Let’s start eating Tibetan food! #Lhasa #Tibet #TibetanFood #streetfood

Potala Palace - To begin the morning we started off visiting the Potala Palace, a fortress dzong, with tombs, chapels, and assembly halls, and once the seat of the Dalai Lama. Today it’s still used as a monastery, and a school for Tibetan Buddhist monks. The magnitude will blow you away.

Tibetan Tea House - One of the best parts of culture in Lhasa is the tea house culture. There are big teahouses all over the city, and local Tibetans congregate to drink tea, eat Tibetan food and socialize. I tried some yak noodles, both yak and vegetarian momos, and both sweet and salted tea. Tibetan yak noodles - 6 RMB ($0.84) per bowl

Tibetan Teahouse #2 - Located just off Barkhor Street, on this Tibetan street food tour, we then went to another teahouse, this one probably the largest and most well known local spots in Lhasa. The ambiance was incredible, so vibrant and so energetic. Since I had just had yak noodles, we chose to try some friend noodles and tea, and soak in the Tibetan culture.

Dzomo Cheese - Hybrid between yak and cow - Next we tried some dzomo cheese on the streets of Lhasa, very good and slightly animaly.

Laping noodles - Price - 5 RMB ($0.70) per bowl - One of my favorite of all Tibetan street foods is laping, a type of noodle, sliced off, then mixed with chili oil and spices. It’s the perfect light and flavorful street food snack.

Legendary Yak Momos - Price - 1 RMB ($0.14) per piece - On the corner, just outside the Barkhor Street circle, is a famous yak momos hole in the wall restaurant. The momos were hot and fresh, made right before you order them, and they were some of the best yak momos I’ve ever had.

Cheese Fungus Soup - 6 RMB ($0.84) per bowl - Dolma mentioned that this Tibetan cheese fungus soup is rare to find nowadays and during this season, so we were lucky to find it. It ate like a porridge and was hearty and filling.

Jokhang Temple - Barkhor Street - One of the most important places in Tibetan Buddhism and in Lhasa is Jokhang Temple, and people often walk 3 circles around the temple each morning and evening.

Tibetan Food Dinner - Finally for dinner, it wasn’t really street food, but it was a local Tibetan style dinner where we tried a number of Tibetan dishes. My favorite was the pickled preserved radish stir fried with yak meat.

It was an amazing day in Lhasa, Tibet, lots of delicious Tibetan food, and a chance to learn a lot about Tibetan culture.

Thank you to Travel China & Tibet ( they sponsored my trip to Tibet, and they did an amazing job to cater to the exact things I wanted to do. Highly recommended when you visit Tibet.

MCLEODGANJ Food Walk, Part 1/2 I Dalai Lama Temple + Tibetan Street Food + Ropeway View + Best Food

Located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, Mcleodganj is a scenic hill station that attracts a huge number of tourists from all over the world. Being home to the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness Dalai Lama, Mcleodganj is also a major seat of Tibetan culture. The Tibetan influence can be seen in all parts of the town. Being a popular tourist and pilgrimage destination, Mcleodganj boasts of some amazing cafes and eateries. In today's episode we are exploring a few of them along with our host Anika.

We started the tour with a visit to the Thekchen Choeling Temple which houses the Namgyal Monastery and Tsuglakhang Temple. Here we got to interact with a young monk who has just completed the ordination ceremony.

From there we went to Norling restaurant for some favourite local dishes. It is an old Tibetan restaurant that focuses on classic recipes. Our pick over here was the chicken lamen and veg fingstel. The former was a flat noodles based dish while the later one was a glass noodles and potato based dish. Both of them had mild flavours that mostly came from the sauces and seasonings.

Next we visited the Tibetan Kitchen for more yummy Tibetan food. Here they also serve some South Indian and North Indian options but we settled for some mutton steamed momo and veg bhaklap. The momo were light on the palate, well stuffed and quite juicy. With a wonderful cheese and veggie based stuffing, the deep fried veg bhaklap was irresistible too. They seemed to be a closer cousin of sha phaley.

Our next stop was Kailash Kunga cafe which was suggested to us by our guide at the Norbulingka Institute. This is a small and cosy eatery run by a passionate lady who manages everything along with a very small team. There is a homely feel to the place and the food too. Here we had big momo and veg thukpa. The momo came along with rice soup while the thukpa had hand made noodles in it.

From there we went to Tibetan Quality Bakery which turned out to be a gem of a bakery stacked with fresh and inviting goodies. It is a small stall run by a genial old man who was a chef. At his recommendation we tried the Tibetan special nut bar and yak cheese chocolate cake. Both the dishes were absolutely delightful.

The final stop of the tour was another cosy eatery specialising in crepes.

Huge Tibetan Food - 11 Traditional Dishes in Lhasa, Tibet!

????Street Food in Tibet - Ultimate Tibetan Food Tour:
????T-shirts and caps:
Thank you to for hosting me on my trip to Tibet!

Today we had the honor of going to a local Tibetan family home for an outstanding traditional, and special Tibetan food meal. It was not only a chance to try Tibetan foods that are not typically available at a restaurant, but a total learning experience about Tibetan food and culture. #Tibet #Lhasa #TibetanFood

After arriving to the family home we first enjoyed some Tibetan butter tea and snacks, and then proceeded to the kitchen to start cooking. I loved the decoration and style of Tibetan homes, so warm, cozy, and welcoming.

Some of the main Tibetan food they prepared were yak and cheese momos, fried potato momos, soup with yak meatballs, a steamed sheep head, fried mutton with potatoes and onions, ginseng fruit with sugar and butter, and a number of other impressive Tibetan foods.

The food was delicious and meaty (and very hearty), the setting was gorgeous Tibetan culture, and the hospitality stood out among everything. What an outstanding day in Lhasa, Tibet!

Thank you to Travel China & Tibet ( they sponsored my trip to Tibet, and they did an amazing job to cater to the exact things I wanted to do. Highly recommended when you visit Tibet.

Tibetan Food in Gangtok, India (Taste of Tibet Restaurant)

For a delicious Tibetan food meal and more tasty photos, check out my article here

While I was in Gangtok and throughout Northern India, I had many opportunities to sample authentic Tibetan food, there being a huge Tibetan population living in Sikkim province of India. Though I tried a number of different Tibetan restaurants throughout Gangtok, but my favorite was a Taste of Tibet. Located right along the MG Marg walking street in central Gangtok, this restaurant is located on the third story, so while you dine you can also people watch along the street below.

At first I thought Taste of Tibet may be a bit of a tourist restaurant, but after eating there for the first time, I discovered that while some tourist did eat there, it was also a local favorite. There were numerous tables of monks and Tibetans every time I ate there, which was three times in the course of just a few days. So if you're looking for a good Tibetan food restaurants when you're in Gangtok, India, be sure to check out Taste of Tibet.

In this video I first started off with a plate of momo dumplings, one of the most popular dishes in that area of the world, both Nepal, Tibet, and India. They are basically Chinese jaozi dumplings that can be ordered with a choice fillings usually vegetarian, chicken, buffalo, or pork. They were piping and fresh when delivered to my table. Along with the killer chili sauce, each dumpling was super flavorful and wonderful. The next dish I ordered was another Tibetan food classic known as shapale, which is basically just a meat pie. The little pastries were filled with meat and then deep fried to a crisp. They were delicious, but again, they needed quite a lot of chili sauce to make the flavor strong and more flavorful. Noodles soups like thukpa and thenthuk are extremely common Tibetan dishes, and since I had already had thukpa a number of times, I decided to try out their thenthuk this time. It consisted of fresh noodles shaved into bite sized pieces and within a thick soup broth with some assorted vegetables. The soup wasn't all that flavorful, but it needed to be enhanced with soy sauce and chili sauce and some other sauces provided.

Tibetan food is normally served quite plain, they don't use a lot of spices. However, at every Tibetan restaurant you'll also find a marvelous chili sauce that will light your mouth on fire if you're in need of some extra spice. I did enjoy eating Tibetan food, but like I've mentioned it need chili sauce. Dishes are even served with little salt, making it up to the eater to determine how much flavor to add.

The total price of my meal at Taste of Tibet came to just $5 and it was a warm and comforting meal on a cold day in Gangtok, India.

Tibetan Food in Shigatse - TRADITIONAL BREAKFAST in Tibet!

????Street Food in Tibet - Ultimate Tibetan Food Tour:
????T-shirts and caps:
Thank you to for hosting me on my trip to Tibet!

SHIGATSE, TIBET - Along with Lhasa, Shigatse is one of the most important and largest cities in Tibet. We had the honor to explore Shigatse for the day, learn about the city, eating Tibetan food, and learn about the amazing Tibetan culture. #Shigatse #Tibet #food

Tibetan breakfast - There’s nothing better to eat for breakfast in Tibet than tsampa - roasted barley flour, mixed with yak cheese, yak butter, and sugar, and formed into small hand-squeezed balls. It grows like a loaf of bread in your stomach - it’s so hearty and filling. The best part of the experience was eating it in a local home and watching them as they made it for breakfast, the common way they do everyday for breakfast. The butter tea was excellent.

Tibetan food lunch - We went to a local family restaurant for lunch we we tried a number of Tibetan, and specifically Shigatse foods, including dumpling in soup, a fried bread stuffed with yak, fried sheep lungs, and Tibetan blood sausage. It was a heavy and meaty lunch, and the food was delicious.

Tashilhunpo Monastery - As the palace of the Panchen Lama (second most important spiritual figure in Tibetan Buddhism), the Tashilhunpo Monastery is one of the most sacred and important sites in Shigatse. After walking around the temple complex in the morning, we then went into the temple complex in the afternoon.

It was a great day of food, exploring, and learning in Shigatse, Tibet.

Thank you to Travel China & Tibet ( they sponsored my trip to Tibet, and they did an amazing job to cater to the exact things I wanted to do. Highly recommended when you visit Tibet.

Deepest KALIMPONG Street FOOD Tour, Part 2 I Sel Roti, Chamre, Laphin, Shaphaley, Fambi, Aloo Thukpa

Being a busy commercial center, Kalimpong boasts of a vibrant street food scenario full of old eateries and stalls.

In today's episode we are exploring some of these along with our dynamic host Nicholas Ghatani who is a freelancer in the area of tourism and media. He is also the co-founder of a small hot sauce manufacturing company named Greenly.

The day started with a simple yet delicious traditional breakfast at our homestay prepared by the very warm and genial Ms. Duke. This consisted of sel roti, chamri and aalu dum. The pretzel shaped sel roti made of rice and semolina was irresistible. The fenugreek seeds flavoured chamri, which was prepared on our request, was subtle and filling.

When the breakfast got over we departed for our first street food destination at Rishi Road named Amdo Restaurant that specializes in Tibetan dishes. Its interiors resembled a cosy Tibetan household. Here we ordered a Wai Wai laphing, tingmo and pork chilli. The former was a fun thing to try because of the contrasting textures of its components. Tingmo was pillowy soft and went well with the spicy pork chilli.

From there we reached Haat Bazaar which houses numerous stalls of daily commodities. It is also dotted with many small food stalls doing brisk business by catering to the shopkeepers and visitors. The first place that we went to was Manoj Food Cart. Here you will find different fried snacks. We opted for the sha phaley which is somewhat close to a minced meat paratha. The filling was spicy and juicy. Next we got to know about some local daily food ingredients and marcha which is used for making local liquor.

Next stop was Tara Phambi stall that is run by two genial ladies. Phambi is the most quintessential street food of Kalimpong that is prepared from mung beans through a slightly complex process. They are jelly like savoury chunks that are tossed in a chilli based sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed its silky, smooth and spicy mouthfeel. This was followed by a zesty plate of aalu thukpa which was noodles topped with aalu dum.

The following stop was Tenzing restaurant where we had a big sized pork momo. This place too is an old eatery serving affordable traditional snacks to the locals. This bread like momo was totally opposite to its regular thin skinned counterpart.

The penultimate stop was another old joint named Nima which is famous for thukpa and momo. We had intended to try chicken or pork thukpa over here but since it was all over, we didn't try anything else.

The final stop of this insightful tour was Renu Radhan's pickle shop. It is managed by a genial hardworking lady, Renu Pradhan. She sells various kinds of pickles and other local treats. With a beaming smile she made us taste some of them. If you have a penchant for local goodies, do give it a try.

We Tried Tibetan Food in ''Little Tibet of India'' | Majnu ka Tila | Food Vlog | Vipul kumar

Majnu ka Tila market will undoubtedly immerse you in authentic Tibetan flavours like no other place in the National Capital Region. A lot has been written about the shopping options here, but people often miss out on all the delightful eating choices this market has to offer. One such unusual dish is the Lhaphing - a traditional Northern Chinese street food which is served at several tiny stalls in the market.Lhaphing, literally means 'cold noodle', and is popular in many neighbouring countries including Nepal and Tibet as well. It's a cool and spicy dish, and is considered a refreshing summer food. Regulars at Majnu ka Tila have been enjoying this Tibetan delicacy for years. This cold noodle is made from extracting starch from the mung bean, potatoes, or wheat flour and is cooked and left overnight. Gluten extracted from the flour is also served along with the noodle dish which gives lhaphing its jelly-like and slippery texture. Spices such as salt, soy sauce, red chili paste, garlic extracts, vinegar, and sesame oil give lhaphing a peculiar yet balanced flavor, making it the perfect appetizer to be enjoyed along with momos or dumplings.

TRYING KOREAN FOOD FOR THE FIRST TIME .........

Majnu-ka-tilla is a colony in Delhi, India that was established around 1950. Majnu-ka-tilla is officially called New Aruna Nagar Colony.
Majnu ka tila is a hub of tibbetian market. The nearest metro station is Vidhan Sabha metro station ( yellow line ) , Kashmeri Gate metro station .It is also a bus stand and buses for Dharmshala starts from here.
................GURUDWARA ...............
Majnu ferried people across the Yamuna river for free as a service to God, his devotion resulted in the guru ji staying here till the end of July.
