Everest. Aerial 360 video trailer shot in 16K

Don't forget that this is 360 video: you can change the angle of view.

Nepal is lucky to have so many extraordinary landmarks. Not only that Nepal is known as the birthplace of Buddha, it also has the majority of highest mountains in the world: 8 out of 14 8K Peaks are located here. Among them is Mount Everest, the highest mountain on planet Earth. It is also known as Chomolungma (or Qomolangma), which is Tibetan for Holy Mother.

Nowadays you need extraordinary computer power for watching 8K 360° videos. If you have troubles with watching such videos, choose 4K or HD quality in the settings of your YouTube player. We hope that YouTube will find a solution for optimization this videoformat to make it watchable for common users.

Also here is the answer for a frequently asked question about true resolution of an 8K 360° video.

Unlike regular videos, while watching 360° videos YouTube show us only a specific field of view similar to human eye (by default 100 degrees out of 360). As a result, the resolution of the visible part of 8K video uploaded to our channel is around 2K (1920p). If you watch in 4K mode the resolution of the visible part would be even less - around 1080p (1K).

Please note that AirPano team originally shoots its films in 16,12,10,8K resolution, depending on year and cameras used back then. But before upload to YouTube channel we downscale all our videos to 8K.

We Climbed Mont Blanc! Gouter Route

We summited Mont Blanc! At 15,771 FT (4807 M), Mont Blanc is the highest peak in Western Europe. Climbing to the summit of Mont Blanc is no easy task - the standard Gouter route requires hiking almost 9000 feet through steep alpine terrain. But the views the entire way, and the exhilaration from standing on the summit of Mont Blanc, are truly unparalleled.

Mont Blanc 4K

MONT BLANC 4K

Mont Blanc 4K is a short film from and around Chamonix in France and the beautiful Mont Blanc massif, featuring three days of preparations and climbing practise, before a strenous and dangerous attempt to climb this deadly 4808 meters tall mountain in the alps - Europe's highest peak when excluding Elbrus in the Kaukasus mountains.

Day 1 includes footage from a cable car trip up to the famous Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix, the 3842 meter tall mountain peak known from numerous movies, including James Bond. I enjoyed a few hours photographing, breathing thin air and walking up and down some stairs to start to acclimatize to the high altitude that awaited us.

Day 2 is from the giant glacier Mer de Glace, where I got to try climbing with rope, crampons and ice axe for the first time in my life! Very satisfying to try something you've never done before! Climbing the ladders down to the glacier, however, was a bit more scary than I could have wished for.. The weather was also not showing it's best side this day.

Day 3 the plan was to do some altitude acclimatization and climbing around Aiguille du Midi, but terrible weather and a closed cable car led us to go through the Mont Blanc tunnel to Italy, and a different cable car up to Pointe Helbronner, a place where I actually have been before, but in much better weather. This day the fog was so thick, I must admit I was deeply impressed that our guide found the way across the glacier, and lead us safely up to the peak Aiguille de Toule (3534 metres tall). With my own fear of heights, I also think the thick fog was kind of an advantage for me, as I was not able to see how steep and scary this mountain actually was!

The next three days, our original plan was to:
Day 4: Take the tram up to Nid d'Aigle (2380 meters) and climb up to Téte Rousse hut (3187 meters)
Day 5: Climb the very dangerous Grand Colouir up to Goúter Hut (3863 meters)
Day 6: Summit attempt at Mont Blanc (4808 meters)

The weather on day 4 was perfect, with shining sun and blue sky, but, unfortunately the weather forecast for day 5 and 6 was terrible, with a huge storm incoming. Also, it turned out the tram up to Nid d'Aigle was not running, as we were early in the season and the rails were not cleared for snow yet.

Anyway, we were hoping for the weather forecasts to improve, and started all the way down from Bellevue (1794 m) and reached Téte Rousse (3187 m) early afternoon. As the weather forecast for day 5 was not improving, and our legs still felt good, we decided to take a chance and go directly to Goúter Hut (3863 meters), all in one day, and we reached the hut an hour or two before sunset. A spectacular view!

For my part, I was totally exhausted after doing roughly three days of climbing in just one day. The weather forecast told us a storm would hit the very next morning. A summit attempt at night was not an option for me, as I was now barely able to stand on my feet, but the guide and my strong climbing companion Sigbjørn decided to do an attempt!

Day 5, the two of them continued climbing around midnight, and they reached at least 4300 meters, when the storm hit them and everybody climbing the mountain had to turn around. The wind was so strong, the guide told me, that people were not able to stand on their feet during the strongest wind gusts. Some were blown over, having to cling on using their ice axes. They came down to Goúter Hut around 0600 in the morning, and everybody in the hut had to evacuate down as the wind was increasing rapidly. Climbing down the Grand Colouir in the storm was the most scary thing I've done to this date, not only was the weather terrible, but we were in constant danger of being hit by falling rocks. I was so happy and grateful when I arrived Téte Rousse (3187 m) alive, and could have a drink before we continued down.

From Téte Rousse and down, we were better protected from the wind, and we could slide down the hillside on our backs, pretty fun actually, although we were very tired and soaking wet. After just a little more than 24 hours since we started, we were down at Chamonix again. The next day I still was totally exhausted and very happy to get some Spa treatment while a furious lightning storm was raging outside.

Although we didn't make it to the top of Mont Blanc, I hope you will enjoy this movie in 4k UHD!

Summiting the Matterhorn with an FPV Drone

FPV drone flight up the Matterhorn's epic Hornli ridge. I've wanted to try this flight for a while and finally went for it during my month in Switzerland this winter (2022). I flew an Iflight Chimera 7 with DJI air unit and crossfire. The video was shot on a GoPro Hero 10 in 5K 30 and stabilized in Realsteadygo.

Where I get music and sound effects-

I only brought 1500mah batteries so the only way to assure that I reached the summit was to get closer. I decided to leave my skis at the top of the lift and hike the rest of the way to the Hornli Hut with crampons and ice axe as the path was covered in snow and ice. I launched the drone from the Hornli Hut and I was able to fly the remaining 4000ft (1,200m) vertical and 1 mile (1.6km) distance to the summit and surf down the ridgeline. It was extremely windy and the wind just got stronger as I neared the summit but the chimera 7 performed very well.

Mont Blanc (French: [mɔ̃ blɑ̃]; Italian: Monte Bianco [ˈmonte ˈbjaŋko]; meaning White Mountain) is the highest mountain in the Alps and the highest in Europe west of the Caucasus peaks of Russia and Georgia.
It rises 4,808 m (15,774 ft) above sea level and is ranked 11th in the world in topographic prominence.
The mountain stands in a range called the Graian Alps, between the regions of Aosta Valley, Italy, and Savoie and Haute-Savoie, France. The location of the summit is on the watershed line between the valleys of Ferret and Veny in Italy and the valleys of Montjoie, and Arve in France, in the middle of what is generally considered to be the border between the two countries.
The Mont Blanc massif is popular for outdoor activities like hiking, climbing, trail running and winter sports like skiing, and snowboarding.
The three towns and their communes which surround Mont Blanc are Courmayeur in Aosta Valley, Italy; and Saint-Gervais-les-Bains and Chamonix in Haute-Savoie, France. The latter town was the site of the first Winter Olympics. A cable car ascends and crosses the mountain range from Courmayeur to Chamonix, through the Col du Géant. The 11.6 km (7 1⁄4-mile) Mont Blanc Tunnel, constructed between 1957 and 1965, runs beneath the mountain and is a major trans-Alpine transport route.
