The World’s Best Delivery Service? Lunch in Mumbai

With a population of over 18 million people, Mumbai is one of the world’s largest megalopolises. To put it mildly, the city can be unpredictable. But amid the chaos, Mumbai has one thing that is nearly 100 percent reliable: your lunch delivery. The dabbawalas of Mumbai are an institution. Dabbawalas deliver homemade lunches to workers across Mumbai—nearly 200,000 of them per day. Crisscrossing side streets on bikes, balancing trays that weight almost 150 pounds on their heads, this group of 5,000 men helps define the city. But it’s not just the staggering quantity or exhaustive work that sets these guys apart; their 99.9% delivery accuracy and incredible efficiency is the envy of delivery services the world over. Anything for a warm meal, amiright?

???? Passport Mistakes: Part 2 (and 1 Passport HACK!)

Passport Mistakes: Part 2! (Plus a Passport HACK!)

Most countries require you to have at least 2 to 4 stamp-free pages in your passport in order to travel.

I know I have pages wasted on that one rogue stamp thrown in there all willy nilly.

Help keep your stamps where they belong by using a paper clip or rubber band to separate your stamp-free passport pages from your stamped pages.

Cultivating Japan’s Rare White Strawberry

In Japan, there's a specialty fruit craze sweeping the nation, from square watermelons to grapes the size of Ping-Pong balls. Still, the crown jewel of the luxury fruit basket is the white strawberry, bred to be a whole lot bigger and a whole lot sweeter than its classic red counterpart. We took a tour of Yasuhito Teshima's farm in Karatsu, Japan, to find out why so many people are spending a pretty penny for a taste of these famous white berries.

The Cerulean Oasis of the Desert

Jodhpur, India, is widely known as the blue city. Many of the houses in Jodhpur’s older neighborhoods are painted in striking blue, a sharp contrast from the neighboring Thar Desert. Some say the color is associated with the Brahmins, India's priestly caste. Others believe that termites are to blame. Whatever the origin, this cerulean city is one of a kind.

Tour This Tranquil Buddhist Island Temple of Giant Statues

Thailand is home to over 40,000 Buddhist temples, but none of them is quite like Wat Plai Laem. Completed in 2004, the site is a collection of temples and statues located on Koh Samui, Thailand's second largest island. Wat Plai Laem's temples are active, set in a tranquil location, where quiet reflection is encouraged and appropriate attire is a must. One of the temple's most eye-catching figures is a nearly 100-foot tall statue of Buddha, painted in bright red, white and gold. But the main statue is the Buddhist goddess of compassion and mercy, Guanyin. There, she is represented with 18 arms, which shows her ability to help many people in need at once.
