1) Get to Berlin
Depending of your location you can choose the most suitable transport mode for you: by plane, train or Fernbus

2) Accommodation
Depending on your style you have several options -- if you happen to travel with a group you should consider the apartment option!

3) Sights & Tours
a) Alternative Berlin Tour
The guys from Alternative Berlinnofollow offer a different kind of sightseeing tour. You come to see streetart, the east-side gallery and you get to know more about the streetart scene, the artists and historical facts. Highly recommended!

b) Panoramapunkt (Berlin from above)
The TV Tower is one of the most popular sights and therefore mostly pretty crowded. If you want to have an open view and if you want to take pictures with the tower in it you should head over to the Potsdamer Platz!

4) Snacks / Cafés / Bars
Berlin is great for streetfood and relaxing at a Café! Not to mention the beer ;)

a) Zimt & Mehl (Breakfast)
This bakery is located next to a canal and offers a great menu for breakfast!

b) Curry 36 (Imbiss)
Here you should try the Currywurst with French Fries!

c) Tadim (Imbiss)
As mentioned above you shouldn't skip another typical Berlin Streetfood gem: Döner Kebap!

d) Marabu Bar (Kneipe)
Nice, cozy Pub at the Görlitzer Park!

Aubrey was a Speech-Language Pathologist, Donnie was graphic designer, but we both had a dream to travel the world and experience cultures. After three years of being married and dreaming about if something like this great adventure would be possible, we decided to quit the rat race and take on the world. We sold everything we had, quit our jobs, and took off! We don't know how long we will get to do this, and we do have a goal of getting jobs in the UK eventually, but we are going to live it to the fullest while we can!

Berlin in 5 Days — What to Do, See and Eat + Day Trips! | The Travel Intern

Berlin is indeed a beautiful city that marries its rich past and diverse present. Here's our adventures from the five days that we were in Berlin, including two day trips that we took to neighbouring regions, Potsdam and Spreewald:

00:16 - Scoot
Fly direct to Berlin from Singapore via Scoot! Highly recommend getting the long haul bundle meal too.

00:21 - Berlin Welcome Card
For unlimited travel and discounted entrance fees, grab a Berlin Welcome Card for tourists only. Super worth it, and super fuss-free too!

00:26 - Brandenburg Gate
This was once a symbol of division during the Cold War, but it now stands for and signifies German unity and freedom.

00:35 - Checkpoint Charlie
Checkpoint Charlie was the only point from which foreigners could enter East Berlin from the West while the Berlin Wall was still up. Today, you can take a photograph with the actors dressed as American soldiers for 3 Euros! Otherwise, you can snap shots but it might be a little tricky!

00:45 - Reichstag Building, Reichstag Dome
Up here, you can get a fantastic panoramic view of Berlin's city centre and learn more about the history of this building! Make sure to book your tickets to visit the Dome though, because slots run out very quickly. Don't worry, it's free!

00:54 - Mauerpark
In the summer on Sundays, everyone's welcome to a mass karaoke session in the amphitheatre. The vintage market also draws lots of people to Mauerpark, young and old!

01:06 - Mustafa's Gemüse Kebap
Touted as one of the best kebap joints in Berlin, you can queue up to an hour on certain days, no matter the season (yes, even in Winter in the snow..) If you're ever in Berlin, you HAVE to get one of these kebaps. Super yummy!

01:15 - Markthalle Neun
Enjoy a wide variety of food on Street Food Thursdays in Markthalle Neun, from mac and cheese to slow-cooked boar, to artisanal ice-cream.

01:26 - Kneipe Klo
Also known as a toilet-themed bar in Berlin, this bar has decorations lining the entire place that make it seem like it was made for Halloween 24/7! Warning: beware of jumpscares around every corner.

01:43 - Berlin Wall Memorial
Where the Berlin Wall once stood, there are remnants of border houses that stood in between East and West Berlin in the past.

01:53 - Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe
Home to 2,711 concrete slabs designed by American architect Peter Eisenman, its symbolism is open to interpretation, with the most common being that of a graveyard.

02:00 - Topography of Terror (Topographie des Terrors)
Once the most feared site of Berlin, it has now been converted into a free public museum for visitors to learn more about the history of Berlin during the Nazi regime.

02:09 - Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp
Just 35 kilometres away from Berlin, Oranienburg houses the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. We recommend going on the tour led by SANDEMANs walking tours.

02:25 - East Side Gallery
The longest open air gallery in the world that's free of charge and spans 1.3 kilometres.

02:35 - Burgermeister
This joint used to house a public toilet, but has since been converted into one of Berlin's most popular burger joints. Super juicy meat patties!

02:47 - Spreewald, Lübbenau (Biosphärenreservat Spreewald)
Take a day trip one hour out of Berlin to the cozy city of Spreewald. The punt tours are a must-do, so book that early! Also, don't forget to try their specialties — gherkins!

03:03 - Potsdam
40 minutes from Berlin, this is another day trip that you should take. It really felt like stepping into a fairytale! Check out Sanssouci and the Neue Palais (New Palace)!

Stay till the end of the video to find out how we felt and what our favourite experiences were!

Have you been to Berlin before? :-) Share your experiences with us!

The East Side Gallery is the longest remaining strip of the of the former dividing wall between East and West Berlin. Today the 1.3 kilometer long wall stands as a memorial to freedom and it is covered in art and graffiti. Right now we're visiting Brandenburg Gate. This gate dates back to the 18th Century. We're here at Tiergarten, one of the biggest parks in the city. MauerPark is a hipster hangout. If you head over to the Bear Pit you can catch some karaoke and musical performances. If you want to spot some cool street art, then head over to Friedrichshain. You can't come to Berlin and not eat a Currywurst! This is the city's most popular fast food snack. The sausage is served with a ketchup and curry powder concoction. Up next we're at the Reichstag building which has a pretty cool glass dome on top. This dome is actually open to visitors and it offers 360 degree views of the city. Today we're visiting Tempelhof, a re-purposed airport here in Berlin for leisure activities and sports. If you enjoy museums and art galleries you'll want to visit Berlin's Museum Island. They actually have five different museums here and if you get a daily pass for 18 Euros you get access to all five. We are now visiting the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin. It is also known as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Charlottenburg Palace is the largest palace in Berlin and the only surviving royal residence in the city. Checkpoint Charlie was one of the crossing points between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War. Located near Alexanderplatz, The Berlin TV Tower offers a great lookout over the city. Chocolate! Ritter Sport is a chocolate brand that is sold all over Germany, and while in Berlin we couldn't resist sampling a few of the different varieties. Berlin Cathedral is located on Museum Island and it's one of the most beautiful churches in the city. If Currywurst is to your liking, you'll want to check out this quirky museum devoted to Berlin's favorite sausage. Renting a bike is a great way to get around the city. Most places will rent out bikes at 10 Euros per day. For a leisurely afternoon, hop on a boat and enjoy a tour down the River Spree. Of course, you cannot come to Berlin and not eat a Wurst or a sausage. The Friedrichshain flea market takes place every Sunday and it's a great place for people watching and a little browsing. The Germans sure know how to enjoy a hearty breakfast, and we recommend you try it too.
We couldn't resist visiting yet another cat cafe while we were in Berlin.
While in Berlin we enjoyed a hearty meal of Schnitzel. It's quite easy to get around Berlin using the U-bahn and S-bahn system. In Berlin, there is a big Turkish population and that means there is awesome Turkish street food. And that's Berlin for you! A city that has risen from the ashes of the war, which is now bursting with art, music, and life.

Have you been to Berlin? We'd love to hear your favourite things about the city in the comments below.

Berlin is a really interesting place in the world.
It has a culture unlike many other countries and really has it's own way of doing things
In this video we will dive into the Top Things you can do when visiting this incredible city

Oh and they really love their bears.

First up is a big part of Berlins modern history...The Berlin Wall.
It really is an interesting walk along the wall as you soak up not only the history of Berlin but also the art and culture that has spawned because of it.

Along the wall you will see a lot of art. The art mainly focuses on social and political commentary and it really is an interesting viewing experience

After a long walk we stumbled upon a cafe called The past is over and we were really happy that we did.
Berlin's cafes always seem mysterious on the outside and uniquely different on the inside.

Checkpoint Charlie was once the crossing point between East and West Berlin.
Today it is a place with a really odd vibe about it. Many tourists stand around taking photos and the Soldiers are more than happy to put on a show.
This guy just took a swim in the freezing river.
The architecture in Berlin is breathtaking and we started off at the Reichstag Building. It was a beutiful sunny day to walk around and take in the sights and sounds around this gorgeous building.

Closeby is the Brandenburg gate. An 18th century monument whis is really amazing to experience upclose.

The detail in this building is so interesting and a delight to behold.
Behind this is Pariser Platz, a square which is an urban space where people are walking around and soaking in the surrounds. Along with buskers and street performers this area really is a beautiful place to hang around in Berlin.

It's hard to choose which building is more striking but i think my favourite might have to be the Berlin Cathedral. It really is an amazing landmark to take in and on the edge of the river on a beautiful sunny winters day we really enjoyed the view.

Right next to that is the Altes museum
It was built in the 1800's and house the antiquities collection.

Cafe Dritter Raum was another nice surprise which we stumbled upon.
We enjoyed a delicious breakfast here and a lovely tea
The atmosphere very much felt like a cosy living room with a chilled out vibe
