Belgrade was the first attacked city in the First World War and the last city in Europe to experience aerial bombing in 1999. It sits at the junction of two major European rivers, Sava and Danube and with its rich history, beauty, interesting communist architecture and amazing atmosphere is one of the most interesting places on the Balkans. This was the capital of Yugoslavia and is now the capital of Serbia. Belgrade (Београд), which means the “White City” is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. It’s one of the oldest metropolises in Europe, with settlements unceasingly remaining here for at least 7000 years. Belgrade rests on the relics of a prehistoric city. The first urban settlement was built in the 3rd century BC by the Celts. Due to its tactical location, the city has been conquered by the Celts, Romans, Goths, Huns, Ottomans, and then fought over by the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian Empires. It has been fought over in 115 wars and razed to the ground 44 times. Belgrade was bombed a few times in the 20th century, both in World War I and War War II and once again by NATO in 1999. As a result of its turbulent history, the capital of Serbia is an incredibly rich mosaic of different cultures, influences and styles with a unique atmosphere. Belgrade is known as the city that never sleeps and the symbol of great nightlife. It's perfect for a long weekend or city break, so don't miss these amazing things to do and see in Belgrade:

After taking, what seems like, a never-ending bus ride, I'm finally in Belgrade, Serbia.
Belgrade is the capital of Serbia and the former capital of Yugoslavia. A lot of what you can read online about Belgrade is probably not on a positive note and I'm not here to dispute all those travel reviews. But what I can show you is how I spent one day in Belgrade and see for yourself if this is something you want to experience yourself. The only thing you will not see in this video is the nightlife in Belgrade. I've heard it's incredible but sadly I'm just too old for that scene these days LOL!

When it comes to eastern European destinations, Belgrade often gets ruled out because of its reputation in Hollywood films as being a place for the shadier characters. But that's such a false conception of the truth. From our experience in Belgrade, Serbians were so down to earth and loved to have a good time. OUR STORY
Hey! We're Olivia and Nathan ???????? A couple from California.
We met back in 2014 in Monterey, California. I (Olivia) was a senior in college & Nathan had recently moved back to the area after living in Italy.
After a few “deep life talks” (ones that were so foreign to me) and hearing about the lifestyle Nathan had been creating for himself for the last 6 years, I wanted to spend more time with him.
We started dating and I learned how he’d moved to Cambodia when he was 17, Germany when he was 18, Italy when he was 20, and was itching to travel again.
I was fascinated and wondered HOW THE HECK DID THIS GUY PAY FOR ALL OF THAT?
Nathan would work in California for 2 years, save every dollar he could, move abroad, find a job in that country, live there for 1-2 years and then do it all over again. Each time, he’d learn the language of that country, acquire new skills & make lifelong friends.
I was deeply inspired & wanted to travel with him. After 1 year of working our butts off and saving every dollar we could, we moved to Australia. We lived + worked there for 3 years (learned to speak perfect Australian lol) & created online jobs so we could continue traveling full-time.
We were traveling South America when covid hit, flew home and bought an RV to travel the US.
Down to earth, entertaining, and informative is our goal — we want you to feel like you’re experiencing the day with us.

In this Belgrade food & travel guide/ vlog we explore coffee culture in the main street of Kneza Mihaila. Visit the largest golden Orthodox church in Serbia. Check out a cool bar and drink local Serbian beer. Create a really bad beer commercial and finally eat a giant pancake.
