The History of the Three Guyanas

The Guianas: South America's Wild Coast

At the top of South America are three small territories. Until about ten years ago, not a single road connected them to the outside world. They are some of the world’s least talked about places and yet all three have interesting stories to tell. Stories of sugar and slavery, calypso and cults. In this series of videos I’m going to tell the story, of the Guianas...

Why Guyana, Suriname & Belize Part of the Caribbean?

Though Guyana, Suriname, and Belize are geographically located in South and Central America respectively, they are all considered to be Caribbean countries. Buy why?

Guyana in South America borders Venezuela, Suriname, and Brazil, and Suriname similarly borders Brazil, Guyana, and French Guiana, a French territory. It is even a more extreme case for Belize, which shares its border with only Mexico and Guatemala, and is surrounded by only Spanish-speaking countries.

So why are these countries often grouped together with the Caribbean? And what makes a region the Caribbean begin to begin with? Let’s now tackle this question.

Guyana: South America's Weirdest Country

In this urban adventure, I will travel into Georgetown's Stabroek Market to experience the street culture of this humid city. Although Guyana is on the fringes of the Caribbean region, it is NOT a tourist destination. Instead, Guyana is a minerals, oil and agriculture rich country on the brink of massive development. Before Guyana changes, let us explore this country.
Lets GO!!!!!

Travel to Guyana |Guyana| moving to Guyana | walking in Guyana | Guyana history

Guyana, a country on South America’s North Atlantic coast, is defined by its dense rainforest. English-speaking, with cricket and calypso music, it's culturally connected to the Caribbean region. Its capital, Georgetown, is known for British colonial architecture, including tall, painted-timber St. George’s Anglican Cathedral. A large clock marks the facade of Stabroek Market, a source of local produce.

Is This Africa Or South America!? Suriname's Maroons (#109)

Suriname is a very interesting country. Hundreds of years ago, escaped slaves hid in the Amazon rainforest, forming new tribes out of people that came from various parts of Africa. Today, these villages still speak African languages and maintain some of the traditions from the continent. These are the Maroon villages, and there's nothing like them anywhere else. You could say it's the most African place outside of Africa.

Feeling a bit nostalgic for Africa after my travels in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Nigeria, I was happy to visit the place.

If You're Foreign Don't Walk The Streets Here ???????? (#105)

If you're one of the rare souls who decides to take a trip to Guyana, the least visited country in the Americas, chances are your first stop will be Georgetown, the capital city. With a population of only around 200,000, it looks and feels almost like a small town. But this city is no joke. With the newfound oil wealth driving prices up, crime is starting to skyrocket. Although everyone in Guyana suffers from theft, American oil workers and Chinese merchants in particular are hunted in the streets by muggers. I was no oil worker, but I was assumed to be one.

WHO DOES ESEQUIBO BELONG TO ? VENEZUELA OR GUYANA ?

greetings my friends. Esequiba , sometimes also called Esequibo or Essequibo, is a disputed territory of 159,500 km2 west of the Essequibo River that is administered and controlled by Guyana but claimed by Venezuela. The boundary dispute was inherited from the colonial powers , (Spain in the case of Venezuela, and the Netherlands and the United Kingdom in the case of Guyana) and has been complicated by the independence of Guyana from the United Kingdom in 1966.

The status of the territory is subject to the Geneva Agreement, which was signed by the United Kingdom, Venezuela and British Guiana on 17 February 1966. This treaty stipulates that the parties will agree to find a practical, peaceful and satisfactory solution to the dispute. On 18 December 2020, the International Court of Justice accepted the case submitted by Guyana to settle the dispute.

The territory is divided by Guyana into six administrative regions: Barima-Waini, Cuyuni-Mazaruni, Pomeroon-Supenaam, Potaro-Siparuni, Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo and Essequibo Islands-West Demerara. Venezuela often depicts it on the map as a striped region. It is then included in the state constitutions of Bolívar and Delta Amacuro.

please study the Map Showing the Disputed Areas.
The Spanish name is either Esequiba or Territorio del Esequibo, and in Venezuelan maps it often appears as Zona en Reclamación, which translates to Zone in Reclamation. thats all for now. please comment and subscribe for the best maps. goodbye.

#esequibo #disputed #essequibo #venezuela #venezuelanews #rioesequibo #guyana #guyananews #guyanauncut # icoj #internationalcourtofjustice #internationalcourt #mapamap #mapsolo #cartemap #kartemap #mapschool #petamap
