The Hardest Parts about Planning for Full-Time Travel
Planning for full time travel has been an incredibly time consuming and demanding experience, but also a very rewarding one. There are lots of boring things that need attention before we leave, like packing up our apartment, organizing our lives into tiny little backpacks, selling our vehicles and moving our stuff into storage. We have watched tons of packing videos from other travel YouTubers who have shared their expertise, and often times have been bored to tears by the 30-minute epic videos they make... using the exact same shot of their suitcase being filled with more clothes than an H&M store...
Now, we do believe it's important to share our planning and packing process before leaving, but we wanted to do it in a way that is uniquely us. We love to use humour to make mundane things interesting, so if you don't get a laugh from this video, feel free to search for the other 30 minute packings tutorials littered on YouTube.
Our next video will be out likely in 10 days time or so... and it's going to be an extra special one! This will be our first crack at a travel day video, consisting of 2 flights and 24 hours of travel to the other side of the world. We Found This Old Equipment in an Abandoned Mine - Exploring the Abandoned Wildhorse Mine
In this video, we explore the three levels of the very remote Wildhorse Mine. This mine was full of interesting geology including natural caves and formations! But we also found some remnants of the mining activity itself, most notably in the form of a pneumatic hoist from the early 1900's.
The Wildhorse Mine was a silver producer that operated in the early 1900's. It was abandoned not long after its peak, likely due to site accessibility issues. To this day, a significant quantity of high grade silver ore remains in the earth at this mine site. But the cost and effort to remove it now outweighs the rewards.
This was an especially interesting trip because we were greeted by a thunder storm when we exited the upper adit - that's not too common in the desert...Luckily, we managed to stay dry on our walk back to the cars. In summary, this was a very memorable mine, I hope you thought so too!
