Canada is a vast and rugged land. it covers more than half of the northern hemisphere from north to south and stretches nearly 7,560 kilometers from east to west in six time zones. It is the second largest country in the world, but only 0.5% of the world’s population lives there. Canada also has a land border with only one country: the United States of America. However, it also has maritime borders with Greenland, Saint Pierre and Miquelon. The border between Canada and the United States is the longest between the two countries in the world.

Heritage Minute #10: United Empire Loyalists
During the American Revolution, Adam Young and his sons fought with the British alongside the Mohawks led by Joseph Brant. When six miles on either side of the Grand River was given to the Six Nations after the American Revolution, Joseph Brant and the Six Nations invited Adam and his family to settle beside them in 1783. Brant gave Young, and another friend and ally Hendrick Nelles, tracts of land along the Grand River each three miles long by three miles wide in what is present day Seneca.
