I'll be honest, Curaçao wasn't on my radar and it should have been! One day I got a flight deal alert for Los Angeles to Curaçao... a Dutch Island in the Caribbean. I had a small window in January to squeeze in a trip so I did a quick assessment... warm weather, white sand beaches and some of the best scuba diving in the world! Count me in!! I made some reservations, completed my e-learning for my Open Water Scuba Certification and I was on my way. I can't get over how amazing the scuba diving was. Unfortunately, my GoPro wouldn't go to the depths that we were diving so this video isn't about scuba. JAN KOK
Jan Kok is famous for its flamingos. Spot these beautiful birds year-round.
PLAYA PISKADO
Fishermen throw fishing waste into the sea which attracts sea turtles. To see sea turtles guaranteed go snorkel here.
KLEIN SANTA MARTHA
This unique house dates back to slave time. Have a drink here or stay overnight and enjoy the views and quietness.
PLAYA LAGUN
Hidden beach with numerous iguanas everywhere. Come up close to these remarkable reptiles here.
GEOCACHING IN CURAÇAO
Some of the most beautiful hikes in Curaçao are marked by geocaches. Get the app and hike the best trails.
KOKOS BEACH BAR
At Jan Thiel baai Kokos beach bar is probably the best place to chill out.
TORTUGA TRAIL
The Tortuga trail is a beautiful loop trail. It is not too difficult and it will bring you along cliffs and through fields full of cacti. Look out for sea turtles down in the ocean and you may find reptiles everywhere.
HATO CAVES AND INDIAN TRAIL
The Hato caves, the biggest cave system on Curaçao is definitely worth a visit. Small passes make place for massive underground chambers. Next to the Hato caves, you find the Indian trail. This trail leads you to ancient rock paintings and you can learn about the Caribbean plantlife.
KOKOMO BEACH
Get away from the crowds and visit Kokomo Beach. Hidden away in between cliffs and far from Mambo beach, you will find peace here. They serve delicious cocktails and food for reasonable prices. The underwater world is amazing here so make sure to go on a dive with Trunk divers.
WILLEMSTAD
With their colorful houses, Punda and Otrobanda are truly one of a kind. Discover the beautiful street art and walk the larges floating and moving bridge in the world: the pondjesburg.
PLAYA SANTA CRUZ
This is your starting point if you to hike to the Blueroom. Make sure to pack a lot of water. Only enter the blue room if you are an experienced and confident swimmer. Be at the blue room during the morning as the sun then beautifully lights up this underwater cave in a blue hue.
KLEINE KNIP
The Kleine knip is a beautiful beach away from the crowds. Since it is so far away you mainly find locals-only here. Be careful after sunset because the lack of security makes this place perfect for criminals.
GROTE KNIP
The Grote knip is a beautiful beach away from the crowds. Since it is so far away you mainly find locals-only here. Be careful after sunset because the lack of security makes this place perfect for criminals.

This is the best place in Curaçao where you can eat fresh-caught fish.
