HAMPI THE LOST CITY || KARNATAKA || 4K Ultra HD

#hampi #Karnataka

Hampi, a temple town in northern Karnataka, was once the capital of the historical Vijayanagara Dynasty. This quaint place, lying amidst striking ruins of the past, has been receiving tourists from far off for ages. The magnificence of the ruins of temples and other structures of Vijayanagar, dating back to 1500 AD, is the main attraction of this place. According to some accounts, Hampi used to be the second-largest city of the world.
There are innumerable boulders around Hampi that are easy to climb. One can get a stunning view of the ruins spread around Hampi by mounting one of the boulders. Located on the bank of the Tungabhadra River, Hampi has quite a number of tourist attractions like Virupaksha Temple, Vithala Temple, and Nandi Statue. It is best to visit Hampi during the three days long Hampi festival held around October-November every year.

Hampi - Beauty amidst Ruins | 4K Travel film |

Hampi gives you a perfect mixture culture culture and ruins. It is known for the Vijayanagar’s devastatingly beautiful ruins and temples spread across the boulder covered landscape.
The history enthusiasts will have a time of their life here and so will the photographers. While the ruins of Hampi is a visual treat for the history buffs, the hippie island is a must visit for anyone who wants to spend a weekend away from the hustle -bustle of the city and spend some time in peace and solitude.

This travel film was shot over a period of 6 days at various locations.

Hampi Cinematic - A Virtual Tour of Hampi Karnataka in 4k - Travel India

Hampi in Karnataka India is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most impressive historical sites I've visited in India. I can't wait to hear what you think of my cinematic virtual tour of Hampi in this video so please don't forget to:
*** Like | Share | Subscribe | Let me know your views in the comment section. ***

Hampi is an ancient city of mystery set in a beautiful rocky landscape in Karnataka which just begs to be explored, and has been attracting travelers from India and abroad for many years, so head to Hampi with me on this virtual tour, to see the gorgeous temples, structures, monuments, ruins and beautiful scenery surrounding this historic site once the capital of the Hindu Vijayanagara Empire.

Did you know that Hampi-Vijayanagara was once the world's second largest medieval era city (after Beijing) attracting traders from Persia and Portugal who described Hampi as a prosperous, wealthy and grand city with numerous temples, farms and trading markets.

More Information on Hampi in Karnataka India
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hampi, also referred to as the Group of Monuments at Hampi, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in east-central Karnataka, India and was the centre of the Hindu Vijayanagara Empire in the 14th-century.

To quote from unesco.org: The austere, grandiose site of Hampi was the last capital of the last great Hindu Kingdom of Vijayanagar. Its fabulously rich princes built Dravidian temples and palaces which won the admiration of travellers between the 14th and 16th centuries. Conquered by the Deccan Muslim confederacy in 1565, the city was pillaged over a period of six months before being abandoned.

The most famous temple at Hampi is the 7th-century Hindu Virupaksha Temple which stands on the bank of the River Tungabhadra, near the revived Hampi Bazaar and can be seen from afar.

Hampi was conquered, pillaged and destroyed by Sultanate armies in 1565 formed by a coalition of Muslim Sultanates who defeated the Vijayanagara Empire, and Hampi remained in ruins after this.

My visit to Hampi & Hampi Hippie Island Closure
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I visited in February 2020 many of the temple ruins, markets and structures were being renovated. I had planned to stay at a guesthouse on on the nearby famous Hippie Island however just before I arrived the guesthouse informed me that they had had to cancel my booking since all the guesthouses and businesses in the Hippie Village had received demolition notices. This left me with few options for accommodation on such short notice however I did find accommodation in nearby Kamalapur.

Located in Karnataka near the modern-era city of Hosapete, Hampi's ruins are spread over 4,100 hectares (16 sq mi) and it has been described by UNESCO as an austere, grandiose site of more than 1,600 surviving remains of the last great Hindu kingdom in South India that includes forts, riverside features, royal and sacred complexes, temples, shrines, pillared halls, mandapas, memorial structures, water structures and others.[7] Hampi predates the Vijayanagara Empire; there is evidence of Ashokan epigraphy, and it is mentioned in the Ramayana and the Puranas of Hinduism as Pampaa Devi Tirtha Kshetra.[2][8] Hampi continues to be an important religious centre, housing the Virupaksha Temple, an active Adi Shankara-linked monastery and various monuments belonging to the old city
