A short video of the pomp and ceremony of the procession of the Queen as she goes to Westminster for the opening of the British Parliament on May 9, 2012. I just happened to be there as she went on her way there and waited for her return trip one hour later. The British are great at pageantry.

Every June the Queen of England celebrates her official birthday with a military parade. A unit from the Household Guard and all five of its massed bands perform the celebration in her honor. In 2017 she is 91 years old and looks grand. Happy Birthday, Your Majesty.

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee carriage procession

The Queen and the Royal family travel down Whitehall in open top carriages on their way to Buckingham Palace.

Seeing the Queen in her carriage before Royal Ascot.

Seeing the Queen in her carriage just before she heads into Royal Ascot down the straight Ascot course mile.

We got a great tip from my brother where you can see the Queen.

You'll see she is in arms reach. It was well worth seeing her so close, I loved it.

From here we travelled straight to Royal Ascot. Luckily we didn't hit any traffic at all.

Hope you enjoy.

Trooping the colour 2017 Queen's Official Birthday Celebration

Trooping the colour 2017 Queen's Official Birthday Celebration ► A short recap of the Queen's Birthday Parade (QBP): 1400 men and soldiers on the parade, 400 musicians, 200 horses. During the ceremony 5 soldiers fainted but having in mind what their uniform is like plus those bearskin hats, this is not a surprise. Every time soldiers start their parade around 10 AM, walk down the Mall and go to Horse Guards Parade. At the end is the turn of the Queen. She has to be there as the clock strikes 11 AM. Inspections of the uniforms, trooping the colour, all this takes about 1 hour and then everybody goes back to the palace. The Royal Family then goes on the balcony and everybody is waiting for the RAF flypast.

Trooping the Colour rehearsal May 2015 - Parade March

HM Foot Guards March Past in Slow Time during a rehearsal for Trooping the Colour.

The march is called 'Parade March' by Charles Gounod (arr. Fred Godfrey).

This march was last played at The Queen's Birthday Parade in 1867.

It is taken from a long-forgotten comic opera, Le Medecin Malgre Lui.

Gounod was born in Paris exactly three years following The Battle of Waterloo. He was no stranger to Guards bands and is known to have visited Hyde Park Barracks to hear his music played by the Band of the 1st life Guards.

The arrangement is by Adolphus Frederick Godfrey, Bandmaster of the Coldstream Guards from 1863 to 1880.
