Plitvice Lakes National Park (Plitvička Jezera) is 300 square kilometers of deep green lush forest, and features 16 incredible lakes, all inter-connected by a seemingly endless series of majestic waterfalls.
The Croatian National Park a well-deserved UNESCO World Heritage site, and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Croatia.
If you're looking for the best things to do in Croatia, I highly recommend coming to Plitvice National Park.
Just be careful of what time of year you come to this National Park, because it does get very crowded in the summer months. I would actually love to come back to Plitvice in the fall!

ISTRIA ROAD TRIP | Rovinj, Pula, and Porec - Croatia Travel Vlog
Today we are out exploring one of Croatia's most beautiful regions, Istria!
Istria is located in the north of Croatia and is known for its stunning coastline and quaint hill towns.
The first stop on our mini road trip is the city of Pula. Pula is best known for its Arena, which is one of the most well preserved amphitheater's in the world. We also enjoyed walking through the old town/Roman Forum and seeing the Temple of Augustus.
We then headed to Istria's gem, Rovinj. Rovinj is technically in Croatia but it felt like we were back in Italy! Rovinj used to be ruled by the Republic of Venice and the Italian influence is all over. There is even a direct ferry that will take you from Rovinj to Venice. A few things to enjoy while in Rovinj are strolling along the harbor, take in the views from the cathedral, explore the old town, and shop the farmer's market.
Our last stop along the coastline was the city of Porec. Porec is where we stayed for the weekend as we explored the coastline and hill towns. We mainly spent our time here relaxing by the beach.

Rovinj is a town on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula in Croatia. The old town stands on a headland with houses tightly crowded down to the seafront. A tangle of cobbled streets leads to the hilltop church of St. Euphemia, whose towering steeple dominates the skyline. South of the old town is Lone Bay, one of the area’s pebble beaches.

The largest peninsula of Croatia, located in Western Europe. The roots of history go back as far as a thousand years ago, and thanks to this, a multifaceted historical culture was formed, which makes the region unique and special. Beaches
Basically, the Istrian peninsula has pebbly beaches with turquoise-blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. The most beautiful beaches that tourists love:
Katoro-small pebbles with sand, the beach is surrounded by beautiful pine forest, very gentle and soft entry into the water;
Sol Polynesia - a beautiful beach area where there are places to play tennis, a football field;
Canova - in a picturesque bay there is a concrete beach, and nearby there are cafes and restaurants with live music.
Nature (landscapes, beautiful places)
Istria is considered a Croatian paradise due to its climate (warm summers and cool, mild, sunny winters) and natural scenery. The nature is diverse and picturesque, an ideal place for cedar trees, pine trees, as well as deciduous trees.
Brijuni National Park - an archipelago of 14 islands, where various animals live and exotic plants grow, here is the Old Olive (an ancient tree, about 160 years old);
Baradine Cave is a 132 m deep cave with many stalactites, stalagmite statues, underwater lakes with interesting wildlife.
Plitvice Lakes - located outside the peninsula, but they are easily accessible.
Main cities: Pula, Rovinj, Poreč, Umag
Pula is the largest city in Istria, where the international airport is located. A place filled with historical architectural monuments and the only one with public transport.
Rovinj is a charming town where all the artisans sell their handicrafts and all the architecture is Venetian style.
Poreč is a unique city with an ancient atmosphere. It is here that there are many hotels offering excellent services for tourists with children.
Umag is a beach resort town, and also a world-class tennis center, it is from Umag that you can easily get to Slovenia.
What to see
Be sure, when visiting the Istra peninsula, you need to visit all the resort towns with ancient historical monuments, where many eras are mixed. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of picturesque nature, with fresh, coniferous air. Visit local wineries and taste wine from the best vineyards in the country. Get to know traditional cuisine. Go to the cities on the hills - Motovun, Optral, see the village chapel of the Virgin Mary in Berama. Drive to a picturesque place - the beach in Rabac (one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in Istria).

The Lim Canal is very similar to a fjord and is considered a local treasure, with beautiful scenery and towering cliffs;
Motovun is an old landlocked town on the mainland of the peninsula. The place where the most expensive restaurants are collected and where truffles are prepared.
Do not miss the traditional sights - fun water parks for the whole family: Aquacolors near Poreč, Istralandia in Novigrad.
The Euphrasian Basilica, included in the UNESCO list, the complex includes a basilica, a church, a bell tower and a palace.
The old town of Poreč has retained its historical original appearance with narrow streets and Marafor Square.
Useful information for tourists
Croatia has very clean water, so you can drink it straight from the tap;
It is not customary to give tips in restaurants, they are already included in the cost of dinner, but it is customary for taxi drivers and bartenders to leave a small amount;
Currency must be changed in banks, and euros must be taken in cash;
It is advisable to take rubber slippers with you to enter the sea, as there are a lot of sea urchins near the shore;
For high-quality Internet and inexpensive communication, you should purchase a local SIM card and connect an Internet tariff;
