Some of the most beautiful English villages can be found in the Cotswolds. This guide shows you Englands prettiest villages and historical properties from this beautiful part of England.
Our 2 part guide, starts in Castle Combe, voted the prettiest village in England a number of times. Hardly changed since the 16 hundreds, this sleepy village is also famous for being the backdrop in a number of films, including Steven Spielberg's War Horse and the 1967 classic Dr Dolittle.
Walking down by the river By Brook, the weaver's cottages are the highlight. Home to the local weavers back in the 15th century, they were highly skilled craftsmen men and women and held high status in the village.
Castle Combe
Bibury is not to be missed on any trip to the Cotswolds. Possibly the most beautiful chocolate box village in the Cotswolds and noted as such by William Morris when he visited. The Arlington Row is the highlight of the visit and again seen in movies like Stardust and Bridget Jones Diary. It can get very busy here so suggest you come early morning or late afternoon when the tour buses have passed.
Bibury
Burford has a sweeping long high street with delightful shops, antiques and tearooms. The 15th-century parish church of St. John Baptist is a magnificently preserved example and should not be missed whilst in the town.

Some of the most beautiful villages can be found in the Cotswolds, England. This guide shows you MORE of the most beautiful villages in the Cotswolds and historical properties from this pretty part of England.
In part 2 of the travel guide we visit, Bourton on the Water, Slaughters, Stow on the Wold, Broadway Tower and much more!
We start in Bourton on the Water this stunning village has been described as the little Venice of the Cotswolds. There is plenty to see, eat and do including Birdland, a small bird zoo with a collection of penguins, a model railway, perfumery and factory and our highlight the Cotswolds Motor and Toy museum.

The Slaughters are two cute villages sometimes missed by visitors and are the jewel in the crown of the area.
Lower Slaughter has some lovely walks and this peaceful location boasts some of the most picture-perfect cottages and photogenic locations in the Cotswolds. The old mill is a highlight dating back to the 10th century and offers tours, a cafe and a craft shop.
Upper Slaughter is a real sleepy village a mile from Lower Slaughter and linked by the river. You can walk along the river between the two villages it takes about 25 minutes, but it can be muddy if the weather has been bad.

Chipping Campden
This glorious market town. It is notable for its elegant terraced High Street, dating from the 14th century to the 17th century
Broadway Tower
Historic folly, by Capability Brown, with exhibitions and links to the Arts and Craft Movement. Great for a walk around and stunning views over the rolling hills of the Cotswolds.

The Cotswolds area is home to some of the most beautiful villages in England. In this video, you will see the prettiest English Vigales in the Cotswolds, one of the most beautiful areas in England. This travel guide video showcases Some of the historical villages and towns in England including Burford, Lower & Upper Slaughter, Bibury, Castle Combe, Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden, Snowshill, Broadway, Stanton, and Bourton-on-the-Water.
Burford: Technically a little town rather than a village, beautiful Burford is located on the very edge of the Cotswolds. It’s on the way if you are driving to the Cotswolds from Oxford or London. This small medieval town on the River Windrush is known as one of the most idyllic places in Europe, attracting visitors for its beauty and history.
Lower Slaughter: Just a five-minute drive from Bourton-on-the-Water, lies one of the most picture-perfect places in Cotswolds, the tranquil village of Lower Slaughter. Here is an ideal destination for a romantic retreat and to get away from the hustle and bustle of big cities.
Upper Slaughter: A scenic walking path along the Little Eye stream from Lower Slaughter takes to the lesser-visited Cotswolds village of Upper Slaughter. This village is also known as a “Double Thankful Village” because all of their armed forces survived in both World War I and II.
Bibury: It is no surprise why William Morris (834-96) described Bibury as “the most beautiful village in England”. This charming village with its honey-coloured stone cottages is a perfect example of a typical English village.
Castle Combe is not only the prettiest village in the Cotswolds, but it is widely known as the most picturesque village in England. Strolling through the village is like stepping back in time. No new houses were built here after the 1600s.
Stow-on-the-Wold is a lovely old market town, and the highest one in the Cotswolds, offering exceptional views over the beautiful rolling hills. If you like shopping, you must have a stop here. All shops here are unique with immense character.
Chipping Campden: This charming village was at the centre of England’s wool industry during the Medieval era. Walking through the main street lined with classic Cotswold-stone cottages and shops is a delight. This small town is known as a market town and you can find the 17th-Century Market Hall on the high street.
Snowshill is a small Cotswolds village in Gloucestershire. As you can guess by its name, this village sits on top of a hill above the villages of Broadway, Buckland, and Laverton. When it snows in the area, you can see it here first.
Broadway, a large village and civil parish, lies in the northwest of the Cotswolds in the county of Worcestershire. It is also often known as the “Jewel of the Cotswolds”.
Stanton: Without any doubt, Stanton is outstandingly one of the most beautiful villages in the whole Cotswolds area, located on the edge of the Cotswolds Hills. It is famous for its honey-coloured limestone cottages and historical churches.
Bourton-on-the-Water, a popular village, is often referred to as the “Venice of the Cotswolds” because of its low bridges across the River Windrush.

The Cotswolds is an area in south-central, West Midlands and South West England encompassing the Cotswold Hills, a range of rolling hills that rise from the meadows of the upper Thames to the Cotswold Edge, above the Severn Valley and Evesham Vale.
The area is defined by the bedrock of Jurassic limestone that creates a type of grassland habitat rare in the UK and that is quarried for the golden-coloured Cotswold stone.
With quintessentially English villages, lively market towns, some of the country’s greatest palaces, castles and country houses and breath-taking landscapes, the Cotswolds is enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

The Cotswolds England | The Most Beautiful ENGLISH Villages In The COTSWOLDS
Today we explored The Cotswolds, an area of outstanding national beauty in the south of England as we travel more of the UK before heading back into Europe! The Cotswolds is known for the beautiful villages spread across the hills of England. We started in Bourton on the water known as the Venice of England and for it's filming location! We had some Fish and Chips from the highest rated in the village and enjoyed the beauty of the village green.
A short drive in the morning took us to Lower Slaughter and Upper Slaughter before heading to the Capital of The Cotswolds, Cirencester. The last stop on our Cotswold tour was Castle Combe which is known as the prettiest village in England. We move onto Bath in our next video!

The Most Beautiful ENGLISH villages in the COTSWOLDS | ENGLAND
The most beautiful villages in ENGLAND are in COTSWOLDS, I visited it on my day tour from London.
The 19th-century k artist and craftsmen William Morris called Bibury the most beautiful village in England when he visited it. Bibury has provided the backdrop of blockbuster films including Stardust and Bridget Jone's Diary.
The village is known for its 17th-century stone cottages and the famous Arlington row weaver's cottages which supplied cloth to the nearby Arlington Mill.
Parking can be tricky here with very few spaces in this chocolate box village
developed long before the motorcar.
The US car manufacturer Henry Ford thought Arlington Row was an icon of
England on a trip to the Cotswolds. He tried to buy the entire row of houses to ship it back to Michigan so that he could include them in Museum.
Luckily for us, his bid was unsuccessful . he did however manage to
purchase Rose Cottage in the 1930s from the village of Chedworth,
so a small piece of the Cotswolds made its way to America.
Bibury should definitely not be missed on your Cotswold tour.

It is set in a beautiful location surrounded by fields, rivers and woodland - literally the driveway down to the hotel is about a mile long!!
