Location
1. For many years it was believed that the Israelites crossed the Suez finger of the Red Sea just southeast of what is now Cairo, Egypt. However, there are no deep bodies of water in these areas but just shallow marshes and lakes. For this reason, the biblical account of this astounding miracle has been attempted to be discredited or erased altogether by liberal scholars.
2. Many recent archeologists and scholars now believe the Israelites crossed the Red Sea at the Aqaba finger of the Red Sea and that Mount Sinai is in Midian, which is part of modern-day Saudi Arabia.
Historical Background
1. God called Abraham and promised him He would make a great nation out of his offspring. Abraham obeyed and left everything to follow God.
2. Abraham birthed Isaac, who birthed Jacob, who birthed 12 sons. God changed Jacob’s name to Israel.
3. Jacob and his 12 sons moved to Egypt according to God’s sovereign plan (about 70–75 total people).
4. The Israelites spent 430 years in Egypt (30 years as free people under Joseph, and 400 years as slaves). During this time, they grew into a nation of around 2.5 to 3 million people.
5. God performed a miraculous deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt by performing 10 amazing miracles.
6. The last miracle, known as the Passover, happened when God killed the firstborn of all the Egyptians who did not put the blood of a lamb over the doorposts of their homes.

Faith Lesson from the Exodus, Red Sea Crossing, and Mount Sinai
1. The deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt was done to show several deep theological truths.
To show God’s power and glory (He is above all gods and is the only true God).
To be a foreshadow of salvation and deliverance (God can save and deliver us as He did the Israelites).
To teach His chosen people how to follow and obey Him.
To show his power and glory to the other nations.
2. The important thing to realize is that the location of the events of the Exodus, Red Sea crossing, and Mount Sinai are not the determining factor for whether the Bible is true or not. However, this evidence does strengthen our faith to know the events spoken of in Scripture are true and historical.
3. The miracles surrounding the Exodus, Red Sea crossing, and Mount Sinai are some of the greatest miracles found in Scripture.
4. All of this should inspire us to trust and obey God more fully.

Evidence at Mt. Sinai
1. Large area to camp at the base of the mountain.
Exodus 19:2: When they set out from Rephidim, they came to the wilderness of Sinai and camped in the wilderness; and there Israel camped in front of the mountain.
2. Burnt top of the mountain and surrounding mountains.
Exodus 19:18: Now Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the Lord descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked violently.
3. Plateau partway up the mountain where the seventy elders could have waited while Moses continued up the mountain.
Exodus 24:1: Then He said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and you shall worship at a distance.
4. Altar of Moses at the base of the mountain.
Exodus 24:4: And Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. Then he got up early in the morning and built an altar [b]at the foot of the mountain with twelve memorial stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.
5. Speaking platform partway up the mountain.
Exodus 24:3: Then Moses came and reported to the people all the words of the Lord and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words which the Lord has spoken we will do!”
6. Golden Calf Altar.
Exodus 32:1: Now when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people assembled around Aaron and said to him, “Come, make us a god who will go before us; for this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt—we do not know what happened to him.”
7. Streams of water and dry lakebed at the base of the mountain.
Exodus 32:20: Then he took the calf which they had made and completely burned it with fire, and ground it to powder, and scattered it over the surface of the water and made the sons of Israel drink it.
8. Wells at the base of the mountain.
9. Massive graveyard close by to the mountain.
Exodus 32: So the sons of Levi did as Moses instructed, and about three thousand men of the people fell that day.
10. Cave of Elijah at the mountain.
11. Artifacts found in the area.
Items like a menorah drawing, writings, and footprint drawings all give further evidence that the Israelites were in this area.
12. This area is a designated archaeological site by the Saudi government.
Today, sections of the area, along with the mountain, are fenced off by the Saudi Arabian government and designated as archeological sites. However, there are no excavations permitted on them at this time.
13. Several Jewish, Christian, and Muslim documents dating 600 years before Christ locate Mount Sinai in Midian. Philo and Josephus (Jewish historians) also locate Mount Sinai in Midian of Arabia.

Mount Sinai on Fire! The Law spoken by God!
See and hear the real Mount Sinai in Arabia burn with fire to the very heavens as God declares the 10 Commandments, His Covenant, to Israel. See and hear this awesome sobering event come alive with this recreation. The video uses impressive drone footage from Jabal Maqla in the Jabal al Lawz range in NW Saudi Arabia near Tabuk. Discovered by Ron Wyatt this was the ancient Land of Midian where Moses fled to from Egypt and cared for Jethro's sheep when he encountered the burning bush on Mount Sinai.

Miracle! Baby goats found in a bush at Mount Sinai!
On our very first trip to Mount Sinai, we had a number of miracles. One very special miracle involved 2 abandoned baby goats that we found. This discovery enabled us to befriend the locals. Some of them are still good friends! Come on our tour across the Middle East this fall!

Amazing drone shots of the split Rock that Moses struck!
Our favorite 4K drone shots of the Split Rock of Horeb at Rephidim. At the base of the western side of the Mount Sinai range in ancient Midian (NW Saudi Arabia) this site was first discovered by Jim and Penny Caldwell in the early 1990s. Mount Sinai itself was discovered by Ron Wyatt earlier and since then many have explored and documented the sites related to the exodus in the land of Midian. Enjoy the special footage collected between February 2017 and December 2019 by Andrew Jones.

Location
1. The Eastern Gate is located on the eastern side of the Temple Mount and faces the Mount of Olives.
2. It is an important gate because it plays a central role in Scripture and prophecy.
3. The current Old City of Jerusalem is surrounded by a wall containing eight major gates.
Lions Gate (Stephen’s Gate), Eastern Gate (Golden Gate, Shushan Gate), Dung Gate, Zion Gate, Jaffa Gate, New Gate, Damascus Gate, Herod’s Gate
4. The Eastern Gate is unique in that it is sealed shut.
5. It is the oldest gate in the Old City.
Historical Background
1. The original Eastern Gate was built by Solomon or at a later date by Hezekiah. The ancient posts located inside the gate today, along with the stones beside the gate of the Eastern Wall, date back to this time period and would affirm its early existence and location at its present-day site.
2. It is very likely that Nehemiah rebuilt the Eastern Gate when he rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem in around 444 BC. Some believe the original gate was then named the Eastern Gate by Nehemiah at this time.
3. Herod the Great then rebuilt the Eastern Gate in around 19 BC and added a stairway, or rebuilt an existing one that led up to the gate. This stairway ran alongside the Eastern Wall.
4. The best evidence suggests that the gate was then rebuilt during the Umayyad period (661–750 AD) on the foundations of the earlier gate dating to the time of Solomon or Hezekiah. Part of the gate from this time period has been preserved.
As mentioned above, the remains of two massive ancient gateposts are preserved inside this gate. These gateposts are situated in the same line as the Eastern Wall of the Temple Mount. They also line up with the lower massive stone masonry on both sides of the Golden Gate. The gateposts, along with the masonry sections of the Eastern Wall, suggest they are all part of the same construction. The upper part of the southern gatepost is level with the top of the ancient stone masonry that can be seen south of the Golden Gate. The gatepost in the northern part of the gate is one stone course higher and is located just one stone course lower than the surface of the Temple Mount. These two ancient gateposts belong to the gate dating back to the First Temple period, which is most likely the Shushan Gate that is mentioned in Mishnah Middot 1.3. This gate was the only gate in the Eastern Wall at that time.
5. The current gate that is seen today was rebuilt by Suleiman in around 1541 AD and was built on the foundations of the earlier gates.
6. The Eastern Gate gives the most direct access to the Temple Mount from the Mount of Olives.
7. The Eastern Gate is unique in that it is completely sealed shut. Some commentators see the Eastern Gate’s obstruction as a fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
It was closed by the Muslims in 810 AD, reopened in 1102 AD by the Crusaders, and then walled up by Saladin after regaining Jerusalem in 1187 AD. Ottoman Sultan Suleiman rebuilt it together with the city walls but walled it up in 1541 AD, and it has stayed that way until today.
It’s believed that the reason for the closing of the Eastern Gate was to prevent the Jewish Messiah from gaining entrance to the temple on the Temple Mount.

The Eastern Gate in the Bible
1. It is the likely gate the ashes of the Red Heifer sacrifice were carried through and then deposited in a clean place outside the city (Num. 19:1–10).
2. The glory of the Lord left the temple because of Israel’s disobedience (Ezekiel 10:18–19; Ezekiel 11:23).
3. The glory of the Lord will return to the temple at Christ’s second coming (Ezekiel 43:1–5; Zechariah 14:4).
4. When Jesus entered Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives on Palm Sunday (Triumphal Entry), He most likely used the Eastern Gate (Luke 19:37–38; Luke 19:45–46).
5. It is the gate that Jesus would have entered and exited through repeatedly as He taught in the temple and then retreated to the Mount of Olives to rest and sleep (Luke 21:37–38).
6. The Beautiful Gate (most likely the Nicanor Gate) was where Peter and John healed a lame man (Acts 3:1–10).

The Dead Sea in the Bible
There are many mentions of the Dead Sea in the Bible, and it has long been associated with mysticism, wonderment, and religious significance.
1. It appears the area around the Dead Sea was lush and well-watered before God destroyed the area with fire and brimstone (Genesis 13:10).
2. It appears that after God destroyed the area, it changed to the state it is today, a dry, barren desert (Deuteronomy 29:23).
3. It is referenced often to describe the borders of Israel (Numbers 34:12).
4. It was a densely populated area during the time of Abraham before God destroyed the area (Genesis 14:1-3).
5. Sodom and Gomorrah, along with the other cities of the valley, were wicked, sinful people (Genesis 18:20–21).
6. God destroys Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:23–29).
7. The slopes of Mount Sodom are located in the southeast corner of the Dead Sea, and they feature salt formations that look like pillars – which are traditionally referred to as Lot’s wife.
8. The Bible talks about how this area will change during the Millennial Reign of Christ on earth after the Great Tribulation Period (Ezekiel 47:7-11; Zechariah 14:8-9).

The unique factor about the Holy Land is its special location in the World. Situated as it is, straddling the divide between Africa and Asia, the area has almost always been a battleground. Wave after wave of conquerors poured into it, anxious to control the strategic trade routes linking the centers of the ancient world. It’s not by accident that it’s virtually in the center of the world. In God’s master plan of creation, He decided to place Israel exactly in the center of His creation. Located on a tiny land bridge between Africa and Asia, there is no other way to get between the two of them except through Israel. It’s located on the crossroads of the world. Whoever wanted to trade between the two continents, or control the known world, had to conquer and control Israel. For this reason, there have been more wars and events that have taken place in Israel than any other country on earth. God positioned Israel in its unique location in order to influence the world and be on “Center Stage” so all of creation would know that He alone is God.
For nearly 2,000 years, Christian visitors from all over the world have come to the Holy Land, the land of their spiritual heritage. With Bible in hand, they have walked the places Jesus walked and prayed in the places He preached and prayed. For Christians, Israel is a place like no other. It provides them a one of a kind opportunity to experience the land of the Bible, to deepen their faith, and to be spiritually transformed for a lifetime.

Is this the 2nd rock that Moses struck at Kadesh! Drone video!
Has Kadesh-barnea been located? There are many sites for Kadesh-barnea where the Israelites tried to enter the Promised Land. There are also many sites for Mount Hor where Moses' brother, Aaron, the High Priest, died. The two sites would be near each other. Here is exclusive drone footage of this site that Ron Wyatt found near Mount Hor (Mount Zin site in southern Israel that some believe to be the real Mount Hor). After searching through all the wadis and canyons that lead up into the Promised Land from this wide plain that the Israelites would have come up on the trade route from the Red Sea (Gulf of Aqaba) (Road or Way to the Red Sea in the book of Numbers) from Mount Sinai (Jabal Maqla/al-Lawz) in Arabia and camped in Ron Wyatt found one area that had this super-smooth exposed rock with other interesting qualities associated with it. He believed this to be the site that Moses struck the rock twice instead of speaking to it at Kadesh. Enjoy this new drone footage from 2019!
