IAKWE (HELLO) FROM THE MARSHALL ISLANDS ????????Life is wonderful out here in country #157!

It was already expected that the Marshall Islands would be absolutely stunning (and it certainly is)... but it was unexpected how AMERICAN it feels here!

- They use U.S. dollars.
- They speak (American) English.
- They play basketball.
- They drink Bud Light.
- They use miles and Fahrenheit and feet.

I haven't been home in 6+ months and it is so amazing (and refreshing) to experience this home feeling in the middle of the Pacific Ocean - the Marshall Islands!

WHY are the Marshall islands so Americanized? Find out in today's video!

Just curious -- how many of my American friends had no idea about this? We all know of Hawaii and Guam, but did you honestly know about the Marshall Islands? Comment your thoughts below!

Flying to the MARSHALL ISLANDS (RMI) | Travel Vlog

WE GOT TO FLY TO THE MARSHALL ISLANDS FOR A DAY OR TWO!

Honestly, if you don't use United points for this flight, you will have to pay quite a pretty penny. But if you're close enough in the area and have a lot saved up - it's quite possibly the best price/points used flight we've ever taken.

Episode 151
__________
About Us

We met in college and started a five year journey to graduate, get jobs, pay off student loans and save money to travel. After getting married we bought a one way ticket to Greece in July of 2021 and have been traveling around the Globe since. Living abroad definitely brings some unique experiences.

These laidback Youtube videos will be our way of keeping in touch with family and friends as we explore different countries, try new and strange foods (and of course pizza), and see how many times we can avoid airplane fares. These homevideos will be the only souvenir we end up with at the end (only because nothing else will fit in our bags).

Thanks for watching!

(pro tip: if you click on ‘settings’ on the youtube video and put the playback speed to ‘2’ it goes by faster!)

USAG Kwajalein Atoll - A Place Like No Other || Aerial Highlights

USAG-KA is located in the Marshall Islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. While being key for US national security, its remoteness and location allow for many unique times in your not-so-typical 9-5pm job. Please enjoy some of the memories that I have collected over the past couple years while living on this amazing two-mile-long piece of coral.

All drone shots of Kwaj were taken before the Army drone ban (pre-summer 2017).

Bikini Atoll, The Marshall Islands

Lost somewhere in the ocean, this island looks like a paradise, doesn’t it? But Bikini Atoll was actually home to numerous nuclear testing programs that turned the picturesque island of Bikini into a radioactive wasteland. The inhabitants were forced to abandon their homes, and even today this remains hazardous for living organisms: the abnormally high level of radiation recorded here can cause cancer.

Between 1946 and 1958, 23 nuclear devices were detonated by the United States at seven test sites located on the reef, inside the atoll, in the air, or underwater.

In 1996, the Bikini Council authorized diving operations as a means to generate income for Bikini islanders currently and upon their eventual return. The tours, limited to fewer than a dozen experienced divers a week, cost more than US$5000 and include detailed histories of the nuclear tests.

Ebeye Island Drone Tour Marshall Islands

Some aerial footage of Ebeye I got awhile back and wanted to share. Shout out to Deo Keju for finding a great Marshallese song to go with it. The beauty of this place is truly breath taking. Glad to share with you. If this country ever were to develop its tourism industry I’m sure they would have great success.

Song: Come, Come Again by Jabubu III

From my friend Deo:
Title of the song is “Come, Come Again” - it’s a song “showing off” of memories and reality of the islands/home place … “you recall the beauty of the local music,” beauty and great things of our home … “come, come again” and re-listen, re-learn, re-live.

MAP OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS

greetings my friends. this is a map of the Marshall islands. The Marshall Islands sit atop ancient submerged volcanoes rising from the ocean floor, about halfway between Hawaii and Australia, north of Nauru and Kiribati, east of the Federated States of Micronesia, and south of the disputed U.S. territory of Wake Island, to which it also lays claim. The atolls and islands form two groups: the Ratak , sunrise, and the Ralik , sunset . The two island chains lie approximately parallel to one another, running northwest to southeast, comprising about 750,000 square miles of ocean but only about 70 square miles of land mass. Each includes 15 to 18 islands and atolls.

The country consists of a total of 29 atolls and five individual islands situated in about 180,000 square miles of the Pacific. The largest atoll with a land area of 6 square miles is Kwajalein. It surrounds a 655-square-mile lagoon.

Twenty-four of the atolls and islands are inhabited. The remaining atolls are uninhabited due to poor living conditions, lack of rain, or nuclear contamination. The uninhabited atolls are,

Ailinginae Atoll.
Bikar Atoll.
Bikini Atoll.
Bokak Atoll.
Erikub Atoll.
Jemo Island.
Nadikdik Atoll.
Rongerik Atoll.
Toke Atoll.
Ujelang Atoll.
The average altitude above sea level for the entire country is 7 feet. thats all for now. please comment and subscribe for the best maps. goodbye.
