The Highland Titles Nature Reserve

The Highland Titles Nature Reserve is showcased by The Scotsman's Business Player

Highland Titles is amongst Scotland's most dynamic and innovative businesses, using best business practices that really work. Highland Titles is managing to innovate, thrive, expand and grow despite the tough trading environment and have provided us with a four star Nature Reserve in the area of Glencoe.

Highland Titles has an unusual business model, in that the supporters of its Nature Reserve receive a souvenir plot of the Nature Reserve instead of the membership card that other similar bodies hand out.

Owned by a Guernsey charitable trust, Highland Titles supports local good causes and helps to increase the number of visitors to this area, increasing the turnover of other local businesses, some of whom in return offer discounts to the lairds of Glencoe, as supporters style themselves.

The reserve largely relies on local volunteers, and wherever possible employs local labour.

Now in its eighth year, the Highland Titles Nature Reserve is the first of what promises to be a number of similar owner funded areas of conservation land.

The Highland Titles Charitable Trust for Scotland is a charity registered in Guernsey, Charity Number CH444

Highland Titles - Schottische Hochland Titel

Documentary on Scotland that was shown on Phoenix, which is a publicly funded television station in Germany which is produced jointly by public broadcasting organizations ARD and ZDF. First shown May, 2013)
Featuring

How I acquired the title of LORD

On the Internet I’ve noticed that a charity organization in Scotland that with the help of volunteers takes care of the Highland National Park, is selling souvenir plots of land the size from one sqft to one 1000 sqft. They do this in order to collect funds for maintaining the park.
By purchasing the land you actually become the owner of the plot and you get the purchase agreement. Since this is a souvenir plot, you leave it to the management of the park. The plot can be visited by coordinates provided by the administration, or if you visit the park the free transportation to the plot is available.
You also get a certificate that confirms that you are given an honorary - not a noble - title Lord or Lady. All plots come with a unique gift pack and the right to style yourself as Lord or Lady of Glencoe. You obtain personal right to that souvenir plot and the permission to use their registered trademarks Lord or Lady of Glencoe. How is this possible?
According to the Scottish law and tradition, every landowner in Scotland has the right to call himself lord or lady for a woman. The word lord simply means landowner (landlord). Who gives you the certificate that you have the right to this honorary title?
In many countries certain institutions are registered that can issue honorary titles for achievements, such as the Honorary Doctor of Science, the Honorary Citizen of Boston, etc. In Scotland, park management is registered for that.
That is why they give the honorable title to anyone who buys even the smallest plot. I have to emphasize once again - this is not the same as the noble title Lord awarded by the British Queen, just as the title of the Honorary Citizen of Boston does not mean that this person actually lives in Boston.

From our visit to Highland Tittles whilst we was in Scotland, Such a nice place

Largest insect hotel / house | Highland Titles sets world record | English | USA

Hello Friends, Welcome to our Channel
@SohniSochOfficial

DUROR, Scotland, United Kingdom--The 199.9 cubic meter structure, located on the Highland Titles Nature Reserve at Duror in the Scottish Highlands, breaks the previous world record of 89.37 cubic meters and sets the new world record for the Largest insect hotel/house according to the WORLD RECORD ACADEMY.

6 months of back-breaking work and 7 members of staff were required to complete this project, and the end result will eventually be home to millions of insects such as ants, ladybirds, beetles, bees and butterflies. This, in turn, will help to feed other animals on the nature reserve such as bats, hedgehogs, birds and badgers.

The world record-breaking bug hotel was made using felled sitka spruce from the nature reserve, masonry bricks, bamboo canes, wood chips, forest bark, wildflower seeds, clay pipes and strawberry netting.

“This record-breaking initiative is about the environmental message,” says Douglas Wilson, CEO of Highland Titles. “We bought this land in 2006 when it was a poorly performing commercial forestry plantation of non-native Sitka Spruce.

Highland Titles began in 2006 with a mission to conserve Scotland, one square foot at a time. The conservation project - now encompassing 5 nature reserves and over 800 acres of Scottish wilderness - is funded by selling gift-sized souvenir plots of land.
The Highland Titles community of souvenir plot owners are invited to style themselves as the Lords and Ladies of Glencoe™. Over 300,000 plots of land have been sold to date.
The successful world record attempt is the latest in a growing list of achievements for Highland Titles which include
• planting thousands of trees
• creating a 3-acre lochan
• building a hedgehog hospital
• working with local schools on education projects
• helping to reintroduce 3 endangered species to the area (the red squirrel, the hedgehog and the osprey)
• installing miles of all-ability access track so everyone can enjoy the nature reserve
The GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the most valuable insect collection is an estimated $10 million (£7.79 million / €9.50 million), donated to Arizona State University by Lois O'Brien and Charlie O'Brien (both USA), in March 2017.
