After arriving in Tehran I went straight to one sight I haven’t shown you in my episode from Tehran yet…but it totally belongs on your list: the Tabiat bridge.

My road trip through the north of Iran started on the next day with the goal to introduce you to as many things to do in the north of Iran as possible. For this I was fortunate enough to go with local friends of mine as we needed to drive quite a lot to get to all the places in just one week.

This part of the trip was executed within 1 week - following I list all the places I visited & Things to do in the north of Iran:
- Alamut Castle & Alamut Valley
- Rasht
- Masuleh (Gilan province)
- Ramsar & Caspian Sea
- Bam e Sabz
- Tabiat bridge in Tehran

This video is part of „Inside Iran“ - a documentary series introducing you to popular and unknown sights / things to do in Iran as well as the Persian cuisine and the super friendly locals we met on our trip from Tehran to Isfahan, Shiraz, Yazd and now also the north of Iran. With this series I want to create a better understanding of the country and it’s people without focussing on politics or religion.

Yazd is located 270 km southeast of Esfahan and has a history of over 5,000 years, dating back to the time of the Median empire, when it was known as Issatis. The present city name, however, is derived from Yazdegerd I, a Sassanid ruler of Persia.

Because of generations of adaptations to its desert surroundings, Yazd has a unique Persian architecture and is one of the largest cities built almost entirely out of adobe. To deal with the extremely hot summers, many old buildings in Yazd have magnificent wind towers, and large underground areas. This is why the city is nicknamed the City of Windcatchers“.

We used our time in the city to explore the best things to do in Yazd by focussing on attractions and spots that are interesting for younger travelers paired with important landmarks like the Jameh Mosque. But we also got to try typical dishes from the region and the famous Yazd sweets to show you the whole spectra of Persian cuisine.

This part of the trip was executed within 4 days - following I list all the places I visited & Things to do in Yazd:
- old town
- jameh mosque
- dowlat abad garden
- windtower in the dowlat abad garden
- art house cafe
- fooka restaurant
- cafe iraní
- silk road hotel
- talar restaurant
- amir chakhmaq complex
- dasht-e loot (loot desert)

Compared to Tehran, our last stop, Isfahan is more traditional and conservative. This is why you can visit quite a few monumental sights here. We took 2 days to try the local cuisine and explore the best things to do in Isfahan such as roaming the world's second largest square, smoke shisha or visit the big mosques.

Due to it's centralized structure and the numerous parks Isfahan is a great city to explore for tourists - all major attractions can be found in and around the huge Naqsh-e Jahan Square.

We reached out to the local Couchsurfing community to get in touch with locales who could give us tips beyond the typical tourist sites - it didn't take long until Shayan reached out and offered us to show us his Esfahan. This way we got to see places and eat at restaurants we normally wouldn't have found ourselves. In this video We give a few recommendations of places to visit in Isfahan and typical persian dishes you should try when visiting.

This part of the trip was executed within 3 days - following I list all the places I visited & Things to do in Isfahan:
- Naqsh-e Jahan Square
- Masjed-e Shah / Shah Mosque
- Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque
- Ali Qapu Palace
- The Imperial Bazaar of Isfahan
- Abbasi Hotel
- Samboose & Faloodeh
- Promenade & Parks
- Shahrzad Restaurant
- Saba Hotel
- Chehel Sotoun Palace
- Esfahan Old Town & Streets
- Si-o-seh Pol

Gilan Attractions, a place you have to see before die!

Gilan province with the centrality of Rasht city is of the green provinces in north of Iran. Gilan encompasses the western end of the Alborz mountains and the western plain around the Caspian sea of Iran. With a historical back ground and an ancient history, this province attracts both tourists and archeologists alike. Gilan province has unique nature and dense rainforests, which have global significance. Shiraz is often referred to as the Cultural Capital of Iran or the city of gardens as it is home to many important poets and offers some beautiful gardens. More than that it used to be the actual capital of Persia for quite some time and therefore offers an interesting mix of sights.

We used our time in the city to explore the best things to do in Shiraz by focussing on attractions and spots that are interesting for younger travelers paired with important historic landmarks such as Persepolis or the Karim Khan citadel. But we also got to try some Iranian fast food and traditional vegetarian dishes to show you the whole spectra of Persian cuisine.

During our 4 days is Shiraz we experienced some very impressive sights such as the colorful Nasir ol Molk mosque in the early morning or the Shah Cheragh at night. Beside typical tourist attractions we wanted to see what the real Iran is like and reached out to local friends for further recommendations. This way we got to go to places locals use to hangout, have a coffee or simply relax.

This part of the trip was executed within 4 days - following I list all the places I visited & Things to do in Shiraz:
- Vakil Mosque
- Vakil Bazaar
- Karim Khan Citadel
- Shah Sheraq Mosque & Holy Shrine
- Nasir ol Molk Mosque
- Eram Garden

- Tomb of Hafez

S02E02 - Towards Tehran: Cultural treasure chest of northern Iran

Season 2 / Episode 2 - Overland Vagabond.

This episode is undoubtedly more focussed on the cultural and historical aspects of northern Iran. Altogether we visit a handful of some renown but also less popular UNESCO Sites. We stay in the Capital Tehran for a few days - pretty empty and quiet though due to the Persian New Year Festivities. Lastly, we visit the Holy Shrine in Qom, one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Shi’a Muslims.

Villa Sculler in Ramsar, #Iran by Didformat Studio / Amirhossein Nourbakhsh & Mohammadreza Norouz

Read more:
Didformat Studio: This villa is designed for a family in northern Iran in the city of Ramsar. The main idea of this design is related to the boat that was seen near the site. Due to the proper location of the boat, the main design and concept process was formed. One of the main demands of the employer was the close connection of the ground floor with the artificial lake and boating.

Travelling to TABRIZ and RASHT - Iran Travel Vlog

During our month-long backpacking adventure in Iran, we decided to head north to the towns of Tabriz and Rasht to see what we could find.

Travelling in Northern Iran is unlike anywhere else in the country. There's a different vibe up here, and the landscapes are filled with gorgeous mountain ranges, dense forests and ancient castles and churches.

While we were in Tabriz and Rasht we headed off to Kandovan, a troglodyte village that reminded us of Cappadocia in Turkey. We also checked out the Rudkhan Castle and the unique village of Masuleh, where the houses are built into the side of a steep mountain and the roofs of the homes are used as footpaths for the level above.

We loved our time exploring Tabriz and Rasht, even if the weather didn't always cooperate. We can't wait to return and check out some more amazing things to do in Northern Iran.

First days in Iran and best sights in Tehran - A Wop in Iran 1/5

New country!
In this series of episodes, I'll try to change your mind about one of the most misrepresented countries in the world. Unless you've been there already. In that case just relive the awesomeness of it :)
I'm not saying that Iran doesn't have its issues. I'm just saying that sometimes the actions of a government don't reflect the people leaving in the country run by it. And Iran it's the perfect example. Despite the media telling us that their main goal is to annihilate the West, what I'm experiencing so far is a lot of curiosity, kindness, and will to interact with tourists.
And its people are not the only reason to come here. It's a country full of history, filled with amazing spots all around. My goal here is to spend a lot of time on buses to try to show you as many amazing spots as I can!
First on the list is Tehran.
