The Most Expensive Hotel In The Most Dangerous Country

????????
After staying in the worst hotel in one of the most modern countries I thought it was time to flip the script and stay in The Serena Hotel, Kabul, Afghanistan's most expensive hotel. To say I was shocked would be an understatement, this place would be a 5-star anywhere else in the world. Prices around $200/night but worth every penny.

Summary of my story In the Heart of Iran's Nomadic life ????

My name is Hami????❤️ I have an Iran's Nomadic life. I used to be a teacher in nomadic and rural areas of Iran. In the past, I had a good financial situation and I helped many people in nomadic areas of Iran who were in need. I wanted to make the nomadic children, girls, and women happy. I traveled to nomadic areas of Iran and brought gifts for the nomadic children.
There are many videos showing my assistance to the nomadic people, which you can watch on my channel.

Unfortunately, during one of my trips to nomadic areas of Iran, an incident occurred that caused me to lose all my wealth. You can watch the videos to see how I lost my home by trusting a thief.

I had to buy land in nomadic areas and with the help of an operator, I started building a cabin in the mountains. We have a kind gardener as our neighbor who helps us. He has a son who is against his father staying in nomadic areas, and the gardener's son troubles us a lot.(The gardener's son is interested in the cameraman) You can watch the video about it.

I would be happy if you support our channel, like our videos, and share them with your friends.????❤️

Paradise Found: The Gardens of Mughal India

Stephen F. Byrns, President of the Untermyer Gardens Conservancy, delivered a lecture entitled “Paradise Found: the Mughal Gardens of India” on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 6:00 PM at the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church at 923 Madison Avenue, New York, NY.

Mr. Byrns discussed the evolution of Mughal gardens during the reigns of the first five Mughal emperors (1504-1657). This garden typology originated in Persia around 550 BCE, and took strong root in India, which had a close cultural and religious connection with Persia. The lecture was profusely illustrated with plans, photographs and drawings. Mughal gardens followed three models: located in the country, as part of tomb complexes and as part of fortified palaces.

The combination of great wealth, abundant water and varied topography makes the Mughal gardens of India the most dramatic and richly embellished Persian gardens in the world. The lecture culminates in an examination of the Taj Mahal, the most famous of all Mughal gardens

The Cold War by Major Gordon Corrigan MBE

Anyone over the age of 45 grew up under the Cold War; it shaped international relations for 50 years and it still affects them now. It lasted from the end of the Second World War to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. There were many times when it might have turned ‘hot’ but instead it was fought out in the spheres of propaganda, economics and politics, and militarily by surrogacy outside Europe.

This is the second of two lectures on the Cold War delivered by our expert guest speaker, Major Gordon Corrigan MBE, following on from ‘Yalta 1945 – the Prelude’.

Mughal Garden || Mughalia Bathak in Islamabad || The Mughal Emperor Akbar The Great

Wah Gardens (Urdu: واہ باغ), also known as Mughal Garden Wah (Urdu: مغل گارڈن واہ), is a garden-complex dating back to the era of the Mughal Emperor Akbar the Great (1542-1605), located at Wah village, of Hasan Abdal, in Punjab, Pakistan. The site was largely abandoned after Mughal rule, and while it lied in ruins for a number of years, it is now being restored by the Pakistan Department of Archaeology

Raja Man Singh, brother-in-law of Emperor Jahangir, was a court chief of Emperor Akbar, and is credited with construction of the gardens along the old route from Lahore to Srinagar.[3] He was posted at Wah from the year 1581 to 1586 to stop enemy incursions. During his stay he made a pond surrounded by a structure of twelve doors. The Mughal Emperor Jahangir while on his way to Kabul stayed here on 29 April 1607 and went fishing in the pond. Indeed, the present old village of Wah was originally called 'Jalal Sar' after Jalal Khan Khattar but was renamed 'Wah' by Jahangir.

He wrote in his autobiography (translation): Stayed at Baba Hasanabdal on 12th Muharram, 1016 A.H. At about two miles on the eastern side of this place there is a waterfall. The water falls with great speed. The center of the pond has the main exiting of the waterfall. Raja Maan Singh has made a very little building. There is a lot of fish in the pond having a length of quarter yard. I stayed at this beautiful place for three days. I put the net in the pond and caught about 10 to 12 fish. These fish were again dropped in the water after sewing pearls in their noses.[4]

The Emperor Shah Jahan stayed at Wah while on his way to Kabul in 1639. He called his central construction department and ordered the reconstruction of the buildings. Ahmed Maamar Lahoree, a famous architect of those days, planned out the gardens, palaces and inns. The construction was performed under his supervision and took two years. The garden was made in the Mughal construction style. He made beautiful twelve door structures, canals and waterfalls. He made bathrooms having mixture of cold and hot water at the southern end of these twelve-door structures. The inner portion of the structures has been plastered. The walls of the smaller rooms have been decorated with flowers and petals.

Shah Jahan stayed at the gardens on his trips to Kabul four times after their completion: in 1646, 1647, 1649, and 1654. Contemporaries of Shah Jahan, namely Abdul Hameed Lahoree and Muhammad Saleh Kamboh, declared the garden as a trustee of heaven and substitute for heaven's garden on earth.

The Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb stayed at the garden in July 1676. The garden was badly damaged in the era of the Durrani Empire (1747–1826) and later Sikh rule (1826-1849). After the annexation of the Punjab, the British Government handed over the gardens to Nawab Muhammad Hayat Khan, CSI, in 1865.

2021 Internship Spotlight: Reem Al Alawi

Iranian Epic Poems
By: Reem Al Alawi
The Department of Art Curatorial Intern
Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science
Spring Semester, 2021

My name Reem Mohammed Al Alawi and I am a senior at the University of Evansville. I am from Al Buraimi, Oman, and am majoring in Archaeology and minoring in Art History. I decided to study archaeology because I am passionate about material culture and appreciate studying other cultures. By my junior year, I added a minor in art history because I grew to appreciate the discipline. My favorite areas in art history are contemporary Islamic, medieval, and Japanese art.
While attending UE, I was able to participate and receive archaeological training in the Porta Sano Project of Death in Pompeii, Italy. From this experience, I learned more about anthropological paleontology and archaeology because I worked with human and animal remains. This amazing opportunity was made possible because of the Archaeology and Art History Department. I will forever be grateful for such experiences and to the professors for the rest of my life.
