Aftershock: The Ancient Cataclysm That Erased Human History

The book is available here:

Dr. Paul LaViolette has just contacted me and said that the pulsar idea is not correct; my apologies to him. 'First of all, I never have said that the Galactic core is a pulsar. You’re saying that. Is there some way you can correct that because it sounds very crazy to me.
In my opinion the Galactic core is a “mother star”. To understand what a mother star is, you need to read my other books and understand subquantum kinetics.
The core spontaneously generates energy internally which is why it does not collapse.

Also you left out the most important part of my theory, the solar outburst or nova. The superwave only triggers the event. Most of the damage is done by the Sun.
The superwave pushes dust into the solar system, which in turn aggravates the Sun, which in turn flares periodically to cause such disasters. There are many other energy effects, spectrum changes, etc. involved as well, all of which are explained in my books.'

Gilgamesh

But was he a good king?

Epic of Gilgamesh - Audiobook, short story.

what makes gilgamesh a hero?
A short version of The Epic of Gilgamesh. Tablet One: The Creation of Gilgamesh and Enkidu This is the story of a man who knew all that could be known. He built the walls of Uruk. Climb those walls. Examine their foundations; marvel at their brickwork. No other city can rival strong-walled Uruk. Within the city is a temple, and within the temple is a cedar box. Open the box. Take out the tablets and read the story of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh--the wild bull, perfect in strength, better than all others. Gilgamesh, the hero–immense and terrible. Who other than Gilgamesh can say: “I am king without equal”? Gilgamesh was his name before birth. The great goddess Aruru designed his body. Two thirds god she made him, and one third man. Shamash the Sun god gave him beauty. Adad the Storm gave him courage. Gilgamesh, strongest of all! Long was his journey, and difficult his labors. Weary, he returned to city of Uruk and told this story. Gilgamesh was unmatched in strength and power. He believed everything belonged to him. His awfulness and savagery grew. The women and the old ones complained to the gods, “Shouldn’t Gilgamesh be our shepherd, the protector of our people?” They called to Aruru: “You made this king of ours. Now make us another who is strong enough to withstand him.” The goddess Aruru heard the cries of the people of Uruk, and out of clay she fashioned a wild man named Enkidu. Enkidu’s hair was long and wild; he grazed on the grasslands with the gazelles and joined the animals at the watering hole. A trapper and his son saw Enkidu among the animals and saw how he scared the creatures away from their traps. They thought of Gilgamesh and how he and this wild man might oppose each other. “Set both of them against each other,” the trapper reasoned, “and my son and I can live in peace.” So the father sent his son to talk to Gilgamesh in Uruk. Gilgamesh summoned Shamhat, the hottest girl in Uruk, and sent her to flirt with Enkidu. Enkidu dated her for about a week and then sought the company of the animals once again. Shamhat suggested to Enkidu: “Come with me to strong-walled Uruk, where Gilgamesh rules, like a wild bull. None can withstand him.” Enkidu, longing for an equal and a companion, said, “Take me to strong-walled Uruk, where Gilgamesh rules like a wild bull. I will challenge him and say, ‘I am the strongest of all.’” “Come with me to Uruk,” said Shamhat. “Gilgamesh has already dreamed about you. Gilgamesh awoke one morning and told his mother, Ninsun, ‘I dreamed that a star from heaven fell on the plain outside Uruk. And I dreamed that I could not lift it, but I was drawn to it.’ And Ninsun said, ‘the star that fell from heaven, the star you could not lift, the star you were drawn to, is your companion, a brother who will never forsake you.’ ‘Let it be so,’ said Gilgamesh.” Tablet Two: Enkidu and Gilgamesh meet, fight, and become friends; Gilgamesh invites Enkidu on a journey On their way to Uruk, Shamhat and Enkidu came to a shepherd’s camp. There Shamhat clothed Enkidu and taught him how to eat and drink like a civilized person. The shepherds remarked how like he was to Gilgamesh in strength and stature, how like a star fallen from the heavens. A traveler stopped at the camp, on his way to a wedding feast in Uruk, and complained bitterly that Gilgamesh was trying to steal his wife away. Angered, Enkidu proclaimed, “I will go to Uruk. I will challenge Gilgamesh.” When Enkidu arrived in Uruk, the people whispered, “This is the wild man. He is the only one who can stop

Sumer Salon Series 2011: Geoffery West

Summer Salon Series 2011
August 11

Dr. Geoffrey West presents his lecture The Science of Cities and Their Critical Role in Global Sustainability: Growth, Mortality, Innovation, and the Accelerating Pace of Life.

Dr. Geoffrey West, a theoretical physicist and expert on the fundamental laws of cities, says he has found the simple equations that define the variables of municipalities and posits that, as our vibrant centers of innovation, cities are our best hope for solving current and future problems. Fresh off of his presentation at the 2011 TED Global Conference, Dr. West will join our continuing conversation about building better cities by explaining to us how urban centers function much like biological organisms.
