We stoped at Noumea New Caledonia fro 2 days off the Nowegian Jewel where we were able to explore the island a little more. We were only suppose to say here for 1 day, but because of the Coronavirus our itinerary was changing daily. We had fun at Duck Island however theres not much to see or do in Noumea it is a quiet island for simply relaxation.

Noumea, New Caledonia, Pacific Ocean - the pretty beach of Anse Vata Beach in Noumea. Let's go to the beautiful city of Nouméa which is a the capital of New Caledonia in the Pacific Ocean and let's go to the beautiful Anse Vata Beach. The New Caledonian capital city of Noumea, (French Territory in the Pacific Ocean) is one of the most liveable cities. Indulge yourself with a day at the beach, Anse Vata Beach located next to Baie des Citrons (Lemon Bay).
Anse Vata Beach is one of the main tourist spots in Nouméa. On the east side, a pedestrian pathway runs along the Anse Vata beach, the Roger-Laroque promenade, with many hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and night clubs.
Anse Vata Beach is the windiest beach in Nouméa. It is not uncommon to come across Caledonian windsurfers making elegant trips in windsurf. You can also try this out by taking a class on the beach. If you don’t want as much action then kayak or paddle boarding is for you. Several providers on the beach offer introductory courses and the equipment.
Baie des Citrons - Do not look for lemons or Lemon trees, you won't find any! This quieter cove is an ideal spot for afternoon sunbathing, peeping, and for small dips in the water. The city has installed rafts on the water, to relax even more freely. Take flippers, mask and snorkel to admire the seabed on either side of the beach.

Stunning Views, Beaches & History | Noumea, New Caledonia by Tchou Tchou
Our first stop in New Caledonia is on the the island of Grand Terre in Noumea, the capital of New Caledonia in the South Pacific. Known for it's gorgeous beaches, Noumea offers visitors sand, sun, sea, nightlife, scenery and fascinating World War II history. On our Tchou Tchou train tour excursion, we saw much of Noumea including panoramic viewpoints, important buildings in the town and several bays and beaches. One beach, Lemon Bay, was closed when we visited due to two very bad shark attacks, but I've read that the beach has reopened with shark nets. We learned about American GI's that were stationed in Noumea during World War Two and saw cannons still in place and a hospital that American military left behind that became the local clinic. Our guide said most Caledonians were born in this clinic. We learned about Nickel ore, which is vital to the economy of the islands, For a small train tour, we saw a lot of Noumea and I feel we hit all the highlights.
Most cruises will offer free shuttle buses to the ferry port where there is a variety of restaurants and shops and even the Hop On Hop Off bus tours. New Caledonia means New Scotland, and living in Scotland, I had trouble believing this beautiful tropical island felt or looked like Scotland to anyone, but as we left, I could see the green hills and, maybe, a small resemblance to the Scottish Highlands. Both are beautiful places to visit!

I recently stayed 5 nights at the Chateau Royal in Noumea New Caledonia which is a fabulous resort in the Anse Vata Bay area. This resort is about 1 hours drive from the airport. The resort can organise either bus or private transfers in a vehicle. If you are travelling with a family then this resort offers full kitchen facilities within each guest room. Great location, firendly helpful staff, very clean with a nice beach
