In this vlog, we're exploring more of Kuwait City, Kuwait - specifically, some of the fanciest and newest places in the city. We start off at the Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Center, which is an incredible museum complex. Then we head over to The Avenues Mall, which for me was the best mall I've ever seen - better than Dubai Mall.

The Avenues, Kuwait - Scale, Luxury and Light in a Retail Mall
This is the 4th Phase of the Avenues Mall - Kuwaits largest and most luxurious shopping mall. The scale of this place is enormous, according to Wikipedia The Avenues Mall is the largest shopping mall in Kuwait and the second largest mall in the Middle East. Take a virtual tour around the various districts including the new Grand Plaza with the Curved LED screens, the various districts and the integrated LED lighting to the facade.

We filmed it in Kuwait's worst rain storm for years - they had a years rain in 24 hours and the next day everything was suspended including all the flights home!
We were really honoured to work on the lighting design of Phase 4B of The Avenues, alongside some re-designs of other areas from earlier phases. The architects were Gensler and they did a fantastic job of creating a really unique retail space. The lighting was supplied through Al Dhow and Khabari who both did a great job of delivering and installing the scheme.
Big thanks to iGuzzini who invited us to Kuwait to speak at a Lunch & Learn seminar which gave us the opportunity to see the final project.

HISTORY :
The Avenues Mall is the largest shopping mall in Kuwait. The mall is located in the Rai area extending from Fifth Ring Road from the south and Al Ghazali Highway from the east. It opened in April 2007, under the patronage of the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah. It was the winner of the ICSC Gold Award for “Best Shopping Center 2013” under the Expansion and Design Category in the Middle East & North Africa. It features more than 800 stores and parking that fits over 10,000 cars.

The Avenues Mall is the largest shopping mall in kuwait. The mall is located in the Rai area extending from Fifth Ring road from the South and Al Ghazali Highway from the east. The shopping mall has four distinct phases; Phase I completed in December 2006, Phase IIA in May 2008, Phase IIb in August 2009, Phase III in November 2013 and Phase IV in March 2018. Across a span of twelve years, the Avenue has spent a total of US$3,061,500,000 in building and construction. The Avenues is home to a number of districts:
