Analog to Digital | experience sharing about photography | photography tips | large format camera

Analog People In A Digital World.
SPEED GRAPHIC’s first model was manufactured around 105 years ago.
As it was our first time using a large format camera in the studio, it was quite challenging but exciting at the same time.
Ayush Being a professional photographer, I knew we had to have perfect planning to get a successful shot.
We therefore started by concentrating on the tiniest details. How to focus with the camera, brainstorming regarding the pose, managing perfect lighting and so on.
We finally had the perfect setup and we took a very beautiful picture of his Father.
This video acts as a tribute to his father who sadly passed away. This was one of the last memories he had with his dad where we shot a portrait photograph last year in April 2020 with 74 years old 4x5 Large format camera.

Film Photography - 6x9 v 35mm for long walks

After a recent trip up a mountain I thought it would be interesting to take a closer look at the two cameras I used, a Nikon F65 and Zeiss Ercona 6x9 folder.

The square stills used in the video are taken from an Agfa Isolette III with 75mm f/3.5 Solinar lens on Ilford XP2 Super.

Video recorded with a Panasonic G9 and 12-35 f/2.8 Panasonic lens (at f/2.8). Microphone was the Rode Smart Lav.

Film Photography - The Pearl III gets a run out

After getting my lovely Konica Pearl III serviced I take it out for a run to a quiet seaside town in Wales. It was very dull so I rated the HP5+ at EI800 and increased development to allow me better handheld shooting and also to boost the contrast.

Still images can be viewed on my Instagram page I no longer post to my Flickr account.

Agfacontour, Analog Photography 1968-1975, Iron Butterfly

The photographic processes are very important in astronomy. The application of
Agfacolour and Agfacontour films were used to document e.g. the eclipse of the moon
with its blood moon as well as the graduation and contours from comet haloes.

As member of the astronomy club of Dortmund the visit of the 25 m radio telescope in
the Eifel was in the 60ies a highlight before the erection of the 100 m radio telescope
on Effelsberg in the 70ies.

The International Astronomical Youth Camp 1968 had been in Pedraces in the
Dolomites. At that time a moon eclipse could be documented by colour film using a
refractor on the 2778 m high Lagazuoi near the Italian border.

When I had been lecturer for satellite astronomy for the IAYC's in the 70ies, the newly
developed Agfacontour process was a subject for contour analyses for astronomical
purposes also for amateur astronomers.Beschreibung
