The Pileh Lagoon (in Thai: ปิเละลากูน) is located on the island Ko Phi Phi Lee, which is part of the Phi Phi islands group, in the Krabi province in Thailand. The Pileh Lagoon is also called Pileh Bay and is one of the most beautiful places to visit while traveling around Koh Phi Phi.
The Pileh Lagoon is one of the most beautiful places in Thailand because of it's emerald green colored water and surroundings by huge limestone cliffs. People are allowed to swim and snorkel in the Pileh Lagoon. Most half day and full day travel tours make a stop at the Pileh Lagoon. The Pileh Lagoon is only accessible by longtail boat or speedboat, and is located 30 minutes by boat from the main island Koh Phi Phi Don. The Pileh Lagoon is also known as Pi Leh Lagoon, Pileh Bay, Pileh Cove, and Ao Pileh.

In this video we will visit Monkey bay, Viking cave, Pileh Lagoon, Bamboo island, Phi Phi Don island, and of course we will see iconic Maya Bay.
The beach at Maya Bay is one of the most famous and photogenic places in Thailand, and it was the main thing responsible for bringing tourism to Phi Phi island. In fact, it’s now one of the most famous white sand beaches in the world.
Maya bay is OPEN now! After 3.5 years of closure due to over tourism and severe damage to the ecosystem!
Maya Bay is part of Phi Phi Leh island, which is located in the Andaman Sea of Thailand, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) southeast of Phuket and about the same distance from Krabi.
There are six Phi Phi islands in total, with the two main islands being Phi Phi Leh and Phi Phi Don, and they’re all considered part of the Krabi province of Thailand.
Maya Bay was popularized by a Hollywood movie in 2000 called ‘The Beach,’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio. It opened peoples’ eyes to the natural beauty of the Thai islands.

The Phi Phi Islands are a picturesque archipelago in Thailand, located between the large island of Phuket and the Straits of Malacca coast of Thailand. Part of Krabi Province, this group includes the well-known islands of Ko Phi Phi Don and Ko Phi Phi Le, along with smaller islands like Bida Nok, Bida Nai, and Ko Mai Phai. Ko Phi Phi Don is the largest and most populated, offering a blend of breathtaking beaches and vibrant local life, while Ko Phi Phi Le gained fame as a filming location for the 2000 film The Beach, highlighting its natural beauty but also sparking debates on environmental impact.
The islands are accessible by ferries, speedboats, or long-tail boats, primarily from Krabi town or Phuket Province. The local community, with a population of around 2,500 as of 2018, is predominantly Muslim, although the influx of tourists and transient workers has diversified the demographic. The Phi Phi Islands were severely affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, which led to significant reconstruction efforts to restore its infrastructure and tourism industry.
Tourism has flourished since The Beach was released, leading to increased environmental concerns. Efforts to manage the impact include the temporary closure of Maya Bay to allow for ecological recovery. Koh Phi Phi Leh [4K Drone]
Koh Phi Phi was the highlight of my Thailand trip. Unfortunately, Phi Phi Leh, the island with the famous Maya Bay and Phi Le Lagoon, was closed for the summer...
I still wanted shots of it so I decided to drone it from Phi Phi Don (main island). I hiked to the southern most tip of Phi Phi Don to minimize the flight distance to 3.5 miles (5.6 km). Because it was so far, I had to return at over half battery or else if the winds were against me, I would not make it back (and lose my drone). I was shaking the entire time thinking about my possible drone donation to the sea.
Luckily, I had the wind on my side and managed to get some awesome shots of Phi Phi Leh. One of my favorite aerial photos! Swipe for a quick video I made of the flight!
