Phahurat often known as Thailand's Little India, is an ethnic neighbourhood surrounding Phahurat Road in Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok.

A Trip to Pahurat (พาหุรัด) - Bangkok's Little India

Visit my website for lots for travel and food, click here:

Pahurat (พาหุรัด), located just a five minute walk from Yaowarat Chinatown in Bangkok, Thailand, is the Little India of Thailand. Though it's a small area, Pahurat is packed with all kinds of interesting Indian merchandise, textiles, cloth, and a few reputable Indian restaurants.

Though I haven't yet been to India (I would love to go soon), I sometimes go to Pahurat (พาหุรัด) to explore and of course dine of delicious Indian food.

In this video after doing a little walking around and checking out the area, I went over to one of my favorite street side Indian restaurants in Bangkok - a small eatery known as Toney Restaurant.

Indian food in Bangkok is not normally overly cheap, in fact it's been marketed as quite an expensive cuisine and often housed in nicer sit down restaurants. However, Pahurat (พาหุรัด), there is plenty of Indian food available and many things are quite a bit cheaper than other Indian restaurants in town.

So next time you visit Bangkok, be sure to stop by Pahurat for street food and exploration!

Indian Street Food - KING of CHICKEN TIKKA!! | Best North Indian Restaurants in Bangkok!!

???? South Indian Food Tour in Bangkok:
???? SUBSCRIBE: Don’t miss new food videos!

BANGKOK, THAILAND - Today we’re going on a tour to eat the best North Indian food, especially Punjab food, in Bangkok, Thailand. We’re going to eat everything from street food in Pahurat to Indian fine dining. Get ready for an ultimate Indian food experience in Bangkok, Thailand!

We’re starting this tour in Pahurat, which is known as Bangkok’s Little India. Surrounding the main Siri Guru Singh Sabha Sikh Temple, you’ll find narrow alleys and lanes with lots of street food and hole in the wall restaurants.

Punjab Sweets ( - Just down the alley outside of India Emporium is Punjab Sweets a 30 year shop selling sweets and Indian food - especially dishes like chole bhatura. It’s a great place to hang out for a morning tea and their chole bhatura is the real highlight. The owner was also really nice and gave us a place of their famous sweets to try. Prices - 100 - 150 THB ($2.99 - $4.48)

Just outside Punjab Sweets is a great stall to try Paan - 10 THB ($0.30)

Samosa Corner ( - I believe it’s one of the only samosa street food stalls in Bangkok that’s been serving delicious samosas and pakoras for 45 years. You don’t want to miss it when you’re in Pahurat. Price - 70 THB ($2.09) for 5

Amritsr ( - Next up on this North Indian food tour in Bangkok we went to Amritsr, specializing in Punjabi cuisine, especially Amritsari dishes. This is the type of restaurant where you’ll find a huge menu of dishes, and you can’t really go wrong. They have a huge section of dishes cooked in the tandoor, and my favorite was the achari tikka, one of the greatest ever. They also have the entire range of North Indian thick and rich curry’s. Highly recommended for some of the best North Indian restaurants in Bangkok. Prices - 200 - 400 THB ($5.97 - $11.95) per dish

Punjab Grill ( - Finally to complete this North Indian food tour in Bangkok, we went to Punjab Grill, a contemporary North Indian restaurant that serves authentic and modern dishes. Their lamb dishes are particularly delicious and I also loved their incredible tandoori prawns. You can order a la carte, and they also offer a tasting menu, as a fine dining experience, and a buffet brunch on Sundays. Prices - 400 - 800 THB ($11.95 - $23.89) per dish

It was an amazing time eating through Bangkok, at some of the best North Indian restaurants!

【4K】Rainy Day Walk in Little India Bangkok (Phahurat Market, Indian Street Food)

Phahurat walking tour - It's a rainy day in Bangkok's Little India (Phahurat Market). I take you on a relaxing 4K walk, exploring the delicious Indian street food in this area. We also head inside the maze-like clothing market, dodging the rain dripping through the gaps in the roof! The alleys were too narrow to use an umbrella!

I decided to use a filter/LUT on this video to give it a slightly vintage look. I hope you enjoy this exploration of Little India in Bangkok!

Check out yesterday's vlog:

In this video, I explore Bangkok Thailand from Lumpini park (a popular hangout with locals) to the streets of Little India (also known as Paharat Market). Lumpini park is a beautiful green space located in the center of the city which is teeming with picnic-goers and people trying to escape the noise.

One neat fact about Lumpini park is that there are many monitor lizards that stroll the grounds. There is an artificial lake in which you can take a plastic swan around in a pedal boot for a nominal fee. Built in 1920s by King Rama VI as a royal park, the park has since been deemed a public space.

Named after the birthplace of Buddha, the park houses a beautiful King Rama VI statue as well as library. It's an integral part of Bangkok's green spaces and provides a sanctuary for those looking for clean air and a relaxing atmosphere.

Paharat Market in Bangkok Thailand is also known as Little India. This ethnic community comprised of predominantly Indians use to be an enclave for Vietnamese immigrants. Following a fire that broke out in 1898, the road was repaved and area was renamed to Paharat.

For over a century, the Sikh community has boosted the Thai economy with their textile trading center. Chockfull of little restaurants and local vendors, Little India is a great place to try traditional India street food such as samosas and desserts.

Paharat Market is the perfect quarter to stroll around and take in the sights and sounds of all the wonderful Indian shops. From fruit vendors to clothing booths, Little India has something for everyone. Visiting Paharat Market is sort of like a taking a trip to India.

It's best to visit this area in the afternoon so that you can navigate your way around the various alleyways. Exploring the alleyways is a fun way to get familiar with the area and to discover restaurants that you might otherwise pass on the main street. There are all many malls such as India Emporium which offer a great selection of Indian handicrafts and clothing.

You can get to Paharat Market from Chinatown. Simply take the BTS skytrain to the Saphan Taksin BTS Station, and then take a river taxi over to Chinatown. You can walk from Chinatown to Little India in around 15 minutes. If you are up for a long day, you can even combine Chinatown with Paharat Market (although exhausting, it is also exhilarating).

Phahurat market / little India Bangkok

Phahurad market is an Indian market.
There are Chinatown and Sampen Market nearby. You can reach it from Sampen Market in about 5 minutes, but there are places where the road is very narrow and you may miss it.
This time, many shops were closed because they arrived at the market after 5 pm. Next time I would like to come earlier.

Phahurat or Pahurat (Thai: พาหุรัด), often known as Thailand's Little India, is an ethnic neighborhood surrounding Phahurat Road in Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok. The area that would become Phahurat was an enclave of Vietnamese immigrants who came to Siam during the reign of King Taksin (1768-1782). In 1898, a fire broke out and paved way for a road[1] which was named Phahurat by King Chulalongkorn in remembrance of his daughter Princess Phahurat Manimai (Thai: สมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าพาหุรัดมณีมัย) who had died at the age of 10.[2]

Many of today's Phahurat residents are of South Asian descent. A Sikh community settled down in the area a century ago and established a textile trading center that is still thriving today. Their temple, the golden-domed Siri Guru Singh Sabha, is a landmark of Phahurat. In addition to the Sikh community, the neighborhood is also home to a number of South Asian Hindus and Muslims.

Although the sprawling of Chinese shops from the nearby Chinatown are slowly spilling over into Phahurat, South Asian restaurants and businesses are still prevalent in the area. The area is also the site of some of the more unusual markets and shopping malls in Bangkok, including the sprawling Sampeng Market, the colonial-styled The Old Siam Plaza, and the new four-storey India Emporium.

LITTLE INDIA | BANGKOK

Toney Restaurant (directions)

Shiva Restaurant: Phahurat, opp India Emporium, Bangkok

India Town in Bangkok - Thailand กรุงเทพมหานคร

There are colourful areas all over Bangkok. I love walking around this city.

Bangkok has an Indian Town, not far from its China Town, that is famous for Indian food, clothes, fabric, spices and other items from India. The Pahurat area is bounded by Pahurat Road, Chakraphet Road and Triphet Road, just west of Yaowarat, Bangkok's China Town. Pahurat Road was built in 1898 and named after Somdet Chaofah Pahurat Maneemai, the son of King Rama V.

The Pahurat district is Bangkok's Little India and center of the Indian community, who are mostly Sikh. This area is also the largest fabric market in Bangkok, so if you want to buy textiles, especially wholesale, this is the place to go. You can also find Indian jewellery, accessories, footwear, incense and even Indian movies. The market is busy and the aisles are small, so it does get crowded and people can get pushy. It appears that every nook and cranny is being used to do business. If you do get hot and tired of shopping, there are plenty of Indian foods that you can sample from street vendors and local restaurants.

You can get to Pahurt by taking a river express boat Tha Saphaan Phut, which is just to the northwest of Phra Phut Yot Fa (Memorial) Bridge. Once you get off the boat, it's an easy walk to the market. The Thai Sikh community has a major temple, Siri Guru Singh Sabha close to the Pahurat area that is worth exploring.
above copied and pasted from

Bangkok's Chinatown at Yaowarat Road in Samphanthawong District in Thailand

Yaowarat Road in Samphanthawong District is the main artery of Bangkok's Chinatown. Modern Chinatown now covers a large area around Yaowarat and Charoen Krung Road. It has been the main centre for trading by the Chinese community since they moved from their old site some 200 years ago to make way for the construction of Wat Phra Kaew, the Grand Palace. Nearby is the Phahurat or Little India. The area is bordered by the Chao Phraya River to the south. Yaowarat Road is well known for its variety of foodstuffs, and at night turns into a large food street that draws tourists and locals from all over the city.

[4K THAILAND] Walking around Phahurat Market (MRT Sam Yot) in Bangkok
