Green Bamboo Curry!! VILLAGE THAI FOOD in Sukhothai, Thailand! ???????? บ้านนาต้นจั่น

???? Street Food Tour in Sukhothai:

Sukhothai - Ban Na Ton Chan (บ้านนาต้นจั่น), Thailand - Welcome to the amazing Ban Na Ton Chan (บ้านนาต้นจั่น) in Sukhothai, Northern Thailand! They have an amazing homestay program where you can arrange to stay and learn about the amazing culture and eat some incredibly delicious local home-cooked food! #Sukhothai #ThaiFood

Sukhothai is the ancient capital of Siam, and so there’s a lot of Thai culture and history here. Along with visiting the historical sites of Sukhothai ( I was very excited to learn more about the culture and especially eat authentic local Sukhothai Thai food.

After we arrived to Ban Na Ton Chan (บ้านนาต้นจั่น), we immediately went to check into our homestay where we were greeted by an amazing local early lunch. Among the spread of food, one of the highlights was barometer earthstar mushroom curry (แกงคั่วหมูเห็ดเผาะ), it was incredibly delicious. We ate, had some local durian, and then took a little rest before preparing the next meal!

Aunty was amazing, she went above and beyond to take care of us, and to cook us local food. In the afternoon we went to gather some fresh ingredients, including bamboo shoots, bitter melon leaves, and pea eggplant. Along with many other dishes, one of the main dishes Aunty cooked was a local style bamboo shoot curry (แกงหน่อไม้) ใบย่านาง), using mainly the fresh herbs and bamboo shoots that we harvested ourselves. She started with juice made from yanang ( leaves, which are common in certain regions of Thailand, often used for a curry broth. She then boiled the bamboo shoots, and added in an assortment of vegetables, mushrooms, herbs, spices, fermented fish sauce, and finally red ant eggs to finish it off. It was extraordinary!

For dinner we had an entire local Sukhothai Thai food feast - including the amazing bamboo shoot curry Aunty prepared, a chili dip made with egg, and an assortment of other delicious Thai food.

It was a learning experience, and so much fun to hang out with Aunty who was so kind and took such great care of us.

Thai Food Hero - BEST TOM YUM SOUP in Thailand!!

????Thai Food - 1.5 Years Waiting List:
????T-shirts and caps:
????Mark Wiens Banana Chips - Worldwide Shipping Available Now:

The Best Tom Yum in Thailand - I know it’s a bold statement, but for me, after eating dozens and dozens and possibly hundreds of versions of tom yum in Thailand, this is the best of the best that I’ve ever had. It wins hands down for its pureness of taste, quality of ingredients, epic harmony of flavors.

Sena, Ayutthaya, Thailand (อำเภอเสนา จังหวัด อยุธยา) - Located in Ayutthaya province of Thailand, but in a small and sleep town called Sena, is the Joong Borikan (ร้านจุ้ง บริการ The restaurant looks like it’s been completely stopped in time in the last 30 or 40 years, and I’d imagine few things have changed since then.

You can order a variety of different dishes, most having to do with freshwater fish and freshwater prawns, but the ultimate of all dishes is Uncles’ tom yum goong (ต้มยำกุ้ง). He starts with soup stock, adds in all the herbs and aromatics, the entire big river shrimp, and the move I like the most is that he actually squeezes in, almost like a tube of toothpaste, another shrimp head - all the fatty flavor of the tomalley. That is the pro move that gives so much taste an flavor to this Thai tom yum soup. #tomyum #ThaiFood

In addition to the Tom yum goong (ต้มยำกุ้ง), we also got, tod man pla krai (ทอดมันปลากราย fried fish cakes), and goong pao (กุ้งเผา roasted shrimp).

He is an amazing man, and his tom yum goong will always be legendary for me. The best I’ve ever had so far in my life.

Total price - 1,280 THB ($41.42)

TOP 5 BEST THAI DISHES! | My Favorite Thai Food in Bangkok, Thailand!

Huge thank you to Greg from Travizeo for filming and making this video!
Subscribe now: for 2 new videos every week.
A totally different style video today, hope you enjoy it!

One of the most common questions I get asked is Mark, “what are your favorite Thai foods?” And so when Greg was in Bangkok I thought it would be an awesome idea to cover when he was filming with his amazing video skills.

By the way, Greg films cinematic travel videos for brands and promotions, and he also happens to love to eat! Go check out his videos ( and website for more details ( And I was very excited when he offered to film and edit a video for me.

Choosing my favorite Thai dishes is a very hard thing to do, but I narrowed it down.

1. Braised beef fire pot (เกาเหลาเนื้อหม้อไฟ) at Heng Chun Seng (ร้าน เฮ้งชุนเส็ง) - There’s just about nothing better to eat for breakfast in Bangkok, and after trying quite a few versions, Heng Chun Seng is still my favorite. The beef is tender and most of all the soup is so fragrant from the herbs and beef. Google map:

2. Holy basil stir fry (กระเพราหมูสับ) at Ung Jia Huad (ร้านอึ้งเจี่ยฮวด) - If there’s one dish that could be the most popular and beloved easy to eat Thai food, it’s holy basil stir fry (with your choice of meat). It’s a dish that always hits the spot. Google map:

3. Green papaya salad (ตำปูปลาร้า) Stall on Sukhumvit - You’ll find green papaya salad on just about every street corning in Bangkok and throughout Thailand. My favorite version is som tam boo plaraa, dressed with fermented fish sauce.

4. Fish viscera curry (แกงไตปลา) at Janhom (ร้านจันทร์หอม) - Southern Thai food is always a favorite of mine, and gaeng tai pla, or a curry made with fish viscera is one of the most flavorful Thai foods of them all. Google map:

5. Jungle curry (แกงป่า) at Pla Mae Nam (ร้านปลาแม่น้ำ) - A dish I just can’t get over, and have to order every chance I have, is Thai jungle curry. It’s an amazing mixture of chilies and herbs, and in this case, fish. This is also one of my favorite restaurants in Bangkok at the moment as well. Google map:

There it is, 5 of my favorite dishes in Thailand. Thank you for watching this video!

Again, huge thank you to Greg from Travizeo for filming and editing this entire video!

The Story of Tom Yum: Thailand's Most Misunderstood (and Probably Oldest) Dish

Tom Yum is one of the most famous Thai dishes on the planet. But the truth is, Tom Yum- at least before it was discovered by the outside world- isn't a dish at all; it's a category, something with thousands of years of history- literally- and more epic versions than we could possibly imagine.

In this video, we'll explore the history of what would become Tom Yum, find versions from across the ages and culinary spectrum, and figure out why one specific version of the soup became such a global institution.

The Incredible Story of Thailand's Portuguese

In the 16th century, a few dozen Portuguese mercenary soldiers became the first European settlers in what is now Thailand.

Their descendants now live in a small cluster in Bangkok called Kudeejeen, still practicing old traditions on a parcel of land granted at the formation of the city in gratitude for their bravery in battle.

We visited their neighborhood, met the descendants of those first soldiers, and tried the food that is so unique that many dishes are literally only found within these few narrow alleys.

Street Food 21 CURRIES FOR LUNCH!! Unseen Food Tour in Southeast Asia!! ยะลา

???? Indian Malay Food in Pattani:
???? Subscribe for NEW VIDEOS:

YALA (ยะลา), THAILAND - Located in the very far south, the Deep South of Thailand, Yala is a beautiful province known for its Malay culture and food, forest, and fruit paradise. In this Malay street food tour in Yala we ate one of the best traditional curry meals I’ve ever had in my life, and then continued on to the city to eat famous beef soup. Finally, we drove outside the city for some curian and cempedak. Get ready for some insanely delicious curry and fresh fruit in Yala, Thailand!

Khrua Wahid (ครัววาฮิด - Welcome to one of the best traditional curry restaurants I’ve eaten at in a long time. They serve traditional Malay and Thai curries and dishes from Yala. I was fascinated by the variety, and the ingredients present in each of the dishes. Literally every dish was outstanding, and many of them were new for me - even having traveled quite a lot in both Thailand and Malaysia. One of the many highlights was the quail and chili leaf curry. But really, you cannot make a bad choice at Khrua Wahid (ครัววาฮิด), it’s a must eat if you love curry when you’re in Yala, Thailand.

Quail - We stopped on the side of the road for a quick delicious roasted quail, so tasty.

Organ Soup (ซุปเครื่องใน (มัสยิดกาโบ) - In the iconic market of Yala in the the center of the city, you’ll find this legendary generations old beef soup restaurant. The soup is simple and refreshing, mainly focusing on beef organs and stomach. Additionally, you have to eat the soup with an omelet. The combination is fantastic.

Bang Lang Bridge and Lake - Finally to finish this street food tour of Yala, we drove about an hour to the iconic Bang Lang Lake and bridge. On the way, we stopped for some Yala fruit, including durian and cempedak. Unfortunately all the small “durian baan” were finished for the season, but the mon thong variety was still pretty good. And the view over the lake was spectacular.

I had an amazing time exploring Yala, but too short, so much more to eat and still do in Yala. I hope to visit again.

Thank you to my friends Mohammad and Rus from Papa Tagu for taking us:

Thank you for watching and hope you’re having a fantastic day!

Head-Sized GIANT MUSHROOMS!! ???? Pick + Cook 3 Ways - LOCAL FOOD DELICACY!!

???? Village Thai Food in Sukhothai:
???? 100% Durian Chips - Order Here:
???? สวนโสนเห็ดตับเต่า คุณหวาน:

Huge thank you to the Snow Mushroom Farm (สวนโสนเห็ดตับเต่า คุณหวาน) for hosting me. If you’re in Bangkok or anywhere in Thailand, you can order these giant mushrooms to your doorstep:

#Thailand #ThaiFoood #mushrooms

Ayutthaya, Thailand - Just an hour from Bangkok, we had an opportunity to pick, cook, and eat - giant head-sized golden mushrooms! What I immediately liked, is that they do grow the mushrooms and farm them, but they do it in a very natural way, using organic natural methods, and the mushrooms grown naturally in the soil under the trees next to the river.

Hed Dab Dao (เห็ดตับเต่า) - In Thai the mushrooms literally translate to “turtle liver” mushrooms - but I can assure you there’s no turtle and no liver in this video. We debated why they are called turtle liver mushrooms, and eventually we decided - and don’t hold us accountable to this, it’s just our guess - the mushrooms sort of have a liver texture, and they sort of look like a turtle from the top - so Turtle liver mushrooms. I did some research in English, and I believe that they are some type of King bolete mushrooms.

After harvesting some literal head sized golden mushrooms to eat, we then went to cook them. They made three dishes:

“Koy” mushroom salad (ก้อยเห็ดตับเต่า)
Mushrooms with sweet basil (เห็ดตับเต่าผัดโหระพา)
Curry mushrooms (แกงเห็ดตับเต่า)

In order to cook all the mushroom dishes, he first sliced then boiled the mushrooms for about 5 minutes, then set them in cool water. From there, he made the three different Thai mushrooms dishes.

The mushrooms were the highlight, they have an amazing texture, soft and tender, and just perfectly slimy, almost to the point where they melt in your mouth while being hearty and meaty - or livery - at the same time. It was my first time to try King bolete mushrooms (เห็ดตับเต่า) and I loved them!

Thank you for watching this Thai food video, and hope you’re having a fantastic day!

Khanom Jeen, Mohinga, Bun Cha, and More: Retracing History Through Rice Noodles

How is it possible that a unique form of rice noodle shows up in ancient history in rival kingdoms far and wide, the ancestors of what would become some of Asia's greatest empires? How did this dish seemingly evolve in a vacuum thousands of miles apart and even across an ocean?

By following the appearance of these noodles, we chase this history from Thai Green Curry to Burmese Mohinga to Vietnamese Bun Cha, to Sri Lankan String Hoppers and Chinese Mi Fen. And the common link bonding all of these unique specialties is an ethnic group almost forgotten by history, but the single most important civilization to arrive in ancient Southeast Asia.

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this YouTube channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!

I’ve never understood travelling to a town or city and not eating the local food. How else do you really connect with a place? Let’s get out and explore together and I guarantee you’ll find a whole different side to this wonderful country.

If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!

He’s 129!! World’s Oldest Street Food Vendor!? | Pattani, Thailand

???? Yaseen’s channel:
???? Arabian Thai Food:
???? Sells in front of Masjid Pakistani:

Welcome to Pattani, Thailand! This is just a short clip video today to recognize and honor a man who might be the world’s oldest street food vendor.

Uncle, how old are you? 129 years old!

Now here’s the thing, he was born before Thailand started numbering the years, and so he doesn’t have an official ID card. But what we do know is that his oldest son is 80 plus years old. So even if he’s over 100 that’s absolutely remarkable. Even the fact that he stands there all day, selling, and chatting is incredible.

But not only does Uncle sell candy, he jogs every Friday around the bridge, and he rides the motorcycle. And he still makes the toffee himself starting at 3 am. It takes 3 hours to stir, and another two hours to pull and stretch out until it’s ready. He also happens to love cracking jokes, and if you start talking with him, he’ll laugh, he’ll tell stories, and he’ll start joking around.

Beyond legendary, there’s so much we can learn from Uncle, his lifestyle, his friendliness, and how he serves others. This is what I think is his recipe for a long life.

Aganin, we can’t verify he’s 129 years old, but that’s what he says! And no matter what, he’s one of the world’s oldest street food vendors without a doubt.

Thanks to Yaseen ( for bringing me here!

Thank you for watching and hope you’re having a fantastic day!
