Teide Cableway (Spanish: Teleférico del Teide) is an aerial tramway that goes up Mount Teide, the highest peak in Spain, located in the Teide National Park in Tenerife, Canary Islands. Starting at the base station at 7,730 ft (2,356 m) above sea level, it ascends to the top station at 11,663 ft (3,555 m) in eight minutes, at a maximum speed of 26,2 ft/second (8 m/s) and carrying 44 people per cabin.
Conceived in 1929, construction of the cableway started on 5 September 1963 and was completed on 27 July 1971, starting operations on 2 August 1971. It was renovated between 1999 and 2007.

Hiking to the TOP of MOUNT TEIDE for sunrise
The Volcano in the middle of Tenerife - Pico Del Teide ( Mount Teide ) is a dormant Vulcano with it's peak at 3715m above sea level, however by cable car you can only get to La Rambleta at 3555m , and then you need a permit to get to the top. Unfortunately there was no permit available for normal cable car operating hours for the next two months. However on my penultimate day in Tenerife I came across a tip that there's permits you can get from 6am to 9am ( before the cable car first ride to the top at 10am) that are available, but you have to hike there from Montana Blanca car park at circa 2200m yourself at night, so that's what I did. Finally on my 3rd visit to Tenerife I got to hike to the peak of Mount Teide and for sunrise.

This was one of the best adventures I've ever done, a culmination of my week in Tenerife couldn't be better.

Beautiful Hike Near the El Portillo Visitor Center - Teide National Park - Tenerife
We had friends visiting us on Tenerife and wanted to do a rather, short loop hike on their first full day at the Teide National Park. Without having really planned anything we set out from Las Mercedes and aimed straight to the El Portillo Visitor Center asking if they can suggest a suitable hike for us.
And they did! We could even leave our car parked at the visitor center (please remember to lock the car, close all the windows and don't have anything of value visible - this parking spot is known to be a hotspot for car break-ins)
This hike took us through some beautiful lava landscapes with the majestic Teide always being visible!
