Part 112 - A day in Tehran, Iran - World Cycle Tour - 2018
Sunday 1st July.
A day in Tehran, Iran.
Today we visited 3 sights in Tehran. We started at the National Archaeology Museum. A good place to start to understand the long history of civilization in this area. Persia as Iran once was known, used to be a vast empire 4 times bigger than it is today.
Then to the Milad Tower and a great view of Tehran 312 m above the ground. The Tower is the sixth highest tower in the world.
We finished the day at Golestan Palace. A beautiful palace that is amazingly decorated with mirrored walls.
Tomorrow we will collect our Uzbekistan visas and then move on to Kashan.

I am an Indonesian female solo traveler, who started solo traveling in 2013. After working for the government till 2016, I left Indonesia to pursue full-time traveling and to document myself as I explore different cultures as a solo female.

Beautiful relaxing north Tehran Darband:
Darband was formerly a village close to Tajrish, Shemiran, and is now a neighbourhood inside Tehran's city limits. It is the beginning of a very popular hiking trail into the Mount Tochal, which towers over Tehran. A chair lift is also available for those not interested in hiking.
The Persian word darband means gateway or door of the mountain (band, a variation of vand and fand, meaning mountain).
Darband is where many Iranian giants of art and culture such as Iraj Mirza, Mohammad Taghi Bahar, Forough Farrokhzad, Abolhasan Saba, Ruhollah Khaleghi, Rahi Moayeri, and Darvish-khan are buried (Zahir o-dowleh cemetery).
Darband has a suitable climate all year round, and sees heavy snowfall every year.
The initial start of the trail at Darband is about 250 metres long and is dotted with a number of small cafes and restaurants. These are quite popular and are busy in the evenings, as locals and tourists alike visit the many hooka lounges (locally called qavekhane sonnati) along the trail.
OMG Trip 3: Irán - Teherán / Iran - Tehran
Our first stop is Iran where we spend first days in Tehran. We arrived on Tuesday. Visa process was surprisingly very quick and easy. Of course we bought SIM card ( one of cheapest so far 3,2€) and change money right at the airport. After getting taxi to city we got ready for some exploring. You have to dress properly in Iran! Women have to wear long pants, long sleeves and a scrarf. And important is to have something to cover your ass. First day we walk aroud old city center : bazar, palace ( it was closed unfortunately). After that we met our friend Masood. He showed us city at night. We visited Tabiat bridge along the way. Night was finished with delicious Iranian kebabs.
Next day we enjoyed metro traveling :))))), visited Azadi tower and MIlad tower. After that we headed 350 km south to city of Golpaygan.
