Inside Transylvania - EPIC ROMANIAN FOOD + Wild Stews in Brasov, Romania!

????Romanian medieval BBQ:
????T-shirts and caps:

Brașov, Romania - In this ultimate Transylvanian Food tour of Brasov, Romania, we started off with a huge lunch, then continued to eat Transylvanian truffles, had a massive wild stew dinner, and ended the adventure with an e-bike ride up the ski slope and Romanian mountain breakfast. #Romania #Transylvania #Brasov

Huge thank you to Cristian Macedonschi ( for hosting us in Brasov!

La Ceaun - Just after arriving to Brasov, we went for lunch in the center square. We tried a huge assortment of Transylvanian Romanian foods. An amazing way to begin this food tour of Brasov.

Cucinino Pasta Bar - After taking a walk through the city and walking the hills around the city, we stopped at Cucinino Pasta Bar, mostly with the intention to try Transylvanian truffles. Amazing.

Hotel Alpin - Poiana, Brasov - From the center of Brasov, we drove about 20 minutes up the mountain and checked in to Hotel Alpin a classic ski resort hotel.

Stana Turistica Sergiana - Dinner was one of the highlights of this entire experience for me, a traditional countryside Romanian restaurant. The different stews, including deer, rooster, and beef cheeks were outstanding. Highly recommended restaurant when you’re in Brasov, Romania.

Cabana Postăvaru - Ski Lodge, Restaurant - In the morning, after riding an e-bike up the side of a ski slope, we had a huge Romanian mountain breakfast.

A fantastic food adventure in Romania, and thank you again to Cristian Macedonschi ( for hosting us and making it happen.

Also, thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip.

What Did We Eat In Brasov, Romania Transylvania 2023 (Restaurants and Cheap Eats)

In today's video we give you some ideas of what and where to eat when visiting Brasov, Romania. We take a look a some typical pastries found in bakeries all over Romania that are both delicious and inexpensive. Another stop is at a traditional Romania restaurant serving some hearty dishes with an old school vibe and staff dressed up in classic Romanian clothing. Finally, to change it up we decided to check out a local Chinese restaurant that, to be honest, exceeded my expectations by a mile.

WE TRIED TRADITIONAL ROMANIAN FOODS | TRANSYLVANIAN FOOD TOUR

We visited Brașov and Sibiu to sample traditional Romanian food dishes! Overall, this was an excellent country for food, and even more than that we just had a blast making this video. At this point, trying different foods is certainly locked in as one of top 3 favorite things to do while traveling. In this case, it was our way of stepping into traditional Transylvania times! The food did not disappoint (except for the few that did)!

In the end Cascaval pane (Transylvanian Fried Cheese) was the only food in this video that gained our official stamp of approval! This doesn't mean there wasn't other enjoyable parts of this food tour, but we try to reserve this stamp for our shared, absolute favorites.

Our last video ( featured a meal that also gained the stamp.

The best way to support our creative journey is to leave a comment down below ;)

0:00 - Intro
0:39 - Ciorbà de Fasole cu Afumaturà si Tarhon
1:36 - Sarmale
3:46 - Cascaval pane
4:58 - Tochitura
6:33 - Mici
8:19 - Covrig

Sibiu, Romania was named as a top city to experience Transylvanian cuisine in every single online blog we looked to. So during our month long stay in this amazing town, we tried dozens of different restaurants/vendors. I'm sure we have made this clear within the last few videos, but again, Sibiu truly is special. We recommend anyone visiting other (larger, more popular) Romanian cities to take a detour and include Sibiu on the itinerary.

Regarding the Mici, we actually think our pronunciation is way off, so excuse us there... but we really just picked the wrong spot. Good thing is, we fell in love with Romania and see ourselves potentially going back within the next few years! We will revisit lots of these foods and try many more. If you have ideas for other Romanian dishes feel free to comment them down below!

Unseen TRANSYLVANIA VILLAGE FOOD + Best LAMB Stew in Romania!!

????Romanian medieval BBQ:
????T-shirts and caps:

Village Food and Life in Transylvania, Romania - We had an amazingly special opportunity to spend a day in a local village in Transylvania, meeting amazing people, and learning about the delicious local food and life in Transylvania. #Transylvania #RomanianFood

Thank you to Caroline from Mihai Eminescu Trust for hosting us and for organising this experience.

Rooster soup and home cooked banquet - The main main was a home cooked rooster soup and banquet feast put on by an amazing community of women from this small, yet huge hearted, village in Transylvania. The food was cooked with so much love, and you could taste it in every bite.

Orchard’s Crunchy Pork - After riding a horse carriage to the top of a hill to get a view of the village and see the apple orchards, we enjoyed a Romanian Transylvanian picnic that included grilled pork fat skin.

Shepherd’s Lamb Stew and Polenta - This special shepherd’s lamb stew and polenta was incredible, the lamb fell off the bone with tenderness, and the polenta was rich and cheesy.

It was such an incredible day of Romanian food and learning about this incredible village in Transylvania.

Also, thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip.

EATING Transylvanian Food in Cluj-Napoca Romania ????Food in Romania

We’ve previously tried Romanian food in Bucharest and now we’re really excited to try Transylvanian food in Cluj-Napoca.

This we filmed long before the current Pandemic

BECOME A PATREON MEMBER:
SHOP OUR NEW STORE:

We start things off with dessert! The restaurant we wanted to go to didn’t work out so we headed across the street to try a traditional pie called Plăcintă cu mere which is basically a Romanian version of Apple Pie.

Afterwards we do head to a restaurant where we try a whole bunch of dishes including Jumări (Pork Cracklings), and Salata de vinete (Eggplant Salad). We also try a type of cabbage roll that is local to Cluj-Napoca called Varză a la Cluj (Cluj Cabbage Rolls). We also try another dessert here called Lapte de pasăre (Floating Islands dessert).

Lastly since its our last night in Romania, we try a dessert we’ve already tried before, and absolutely loved. Papanași is essentially Romanian doughnuts covered in fruit and cream, and it’s delicious.

Insane Food in Romania - GIGANTIC MEDIEVAL BBQ + Mangalica Hairy Pig!

????Copenhagen Street Food Tour:
????T-shirts and caps:
Ferma Dacilor:

This was the ultimate Romanian medieval BBQ meat feast. Huge thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip. #Romania #RomaniaFood #bbq

Meat Paradise in Romania at Ferma Dacilor ( - During my trip to Romania, we went to a place called Ferma Dacilor, one of the most unique and special meals and food experiences of my trip to Romania. The entire concept is straight farm to table, where nearly everything they serve, from the meat to the vegetables and seasoning, are grown, produced, and aged, on location at the farm.

Medieval BBQ Cooking - Not only is the food fresh and local, but they strive to cook things in the ancient way, they way their ancestors cooked - over fire, rustic, iron, and huge portions of Romanian food.

Along with the 110 KG pig they roasted whole, one of the highlights for me was trying Mangalica pig, a type of hairy pig that almost looks like a sheep. The fat is said to be quite healthy, with little to no cholesterol. The meat was fatty and delicious.

Huge thank you to Cornelo and his entire family for hosting us and for making our time at Ferma Dacilor so memorable. One of the best Romanian food experiences!

Romania, Village Life in Transylvania

A beautiful little documentary of village life in Gyimes, in the South Eastern Carpathians in 2018. Ancient, vernacular, small farm-houses line the stoned side roads on which horse-drawn vehicles carry logs, hay, stone and people this way and that all day long. Most people live by small-scale farming producing their own honey, cheese, bread, veg and fruit, milk and meat. Water is always from the well, pure, sparkling and cold. Cows and sheep wear bells and high above the village the mountain meadows hum with insect life while the extraordinarily rich flora remains untouched by sprays and chemicals.
Szekler people, Romania's Hungarian speaking minority live in Gyimes, which now lies within Bacau county. The history of the area and its association with Transylvania, is very complicated .... I am no historian and apologise for any errors I have made.
Enjoy the film, all taken with a little, hand-held Panasonic HC X920.

Food taste: Soup with Beans and Smoked Pork Knuckle - #Transylvanian Rituals

If you decide to visit Brasov, #Romania - among the Transylvanian rituals, you can't miss the soup with beans and smoked pork knuckle.

Traditionally, a proper meal, can't start without a large bowl of Ciorba (soup) and a small glass of Palinca (Pálinka)!

And depending on the region, it will always have a particularity. There are as many different kinds as there are regions in Romania.
But among all of them, there is one for which I can go for miles to have it, it is the famous Ciorba de fasole cu ciolan afumat (soup with beans and smoked pork knuckle).
Spiced up with a few fresh tarragon leaves at the end of cooking, this ciorba (soup) is one of the most tasty dishes not to be missed.

The moment of ciorba is a moment of appeasement, and also a moment when we warm the bodies weakened by the harsh winter of Transylvania.

It’s preparation is presented in one of the links below.

Pálinka is a traditional fruit spirit (or fruit brandy) with origins in Carpathian Mountains, more exactly known under several names, and invented in the Middle Ages.

Palinca was first documented in 1540, and tourists now coming to Romania must never leave without even tasting a small glass of palinca. It is deemed one of the traditional Romanian spirits given its unique taste, as well as because it is 100 % natural.
The Ardeal (part of Transylvania) - area, palinca is made by alcoholic fermentation and fruit distillation. This traditional spirit can reach up to 65º.
