8 DAYS IN TANZANIA (Africa's Best Country!) ????????

I'M SO HAPPY that I made it back to the incredible East African nation of TANZANIA! My previous (and only) visit here was back in Jan 2018, where I only visited the island of Zanzibar. But I really missed out because the people, culture, food and nature on the mainland is just about as good as you can find anywhere on this planet.

My friends at Qatar Airways reached out and offered to fly me and Deanna on business class to Tanzania, and we couldn't say no! I've never had a better flying experience in my life... and Tanzania was just amazing! We began our trip in Arusha, then went to Ngorongoro Conservation area before heading deep into the Serengeti for 3 nights and finally ending in a town called Moshi. Tanzania is a phenomenal country inside and out, and I can't wait to show you more of this country over the coming 2 weeks!

Exploring Africa's Strangest Country (Djibouti)

Have you ever heard of the country called DJIBOUTI? If not, don't feel embarrassed... because it's a very tiny country in the Horn of Africa that gets minimal tourism -- roughly 70,000 visitors per year.

Over the last 2 days, I have explored every facet of the capital & biggest city called Djibouti City. I find this place to be the most interesting country in Africa.

Here are some of my quick realizations:

- It's VERY EXPENSIVE -- I have spent more than $400 in the last 2 days and I haven't done much other than walk around, take a few taxis, eat 4 meals & sleep (keep in mind my visa was $90 and my hotel was $105).

- Walking around the streets feels very much like France, from the colonization period that started in 1884 and ended in 1977. The people here speak French (first), Arabic (second) and English (third, if any at all).

- There is a LOT OF SECURITY everywhere -- police/military guards standing on every corner (literally) with giant guns strapped to their backs. It is kind of crazy and very intimidating, but safe.

- About a quarter of Djibouti's population (~250,000 people) are living in extreme poverty, which is more extreme than you'd think given that this country is so expensive. A massive contrast between rich & poor.

All of my thoughts on this mysterious country, and more, are in this video. Have you ever been to Djibouti?

What It's Like Being White in Africa

In 2018, I had the pleasure of visiting 21 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. I absolutely love this continent. It offers incredible nature, culture, and experiences that you cannot find anywhere else.

In a sense, I feel like traveling to Africa is the only real traveling that I've ever done.

But I have noticed a lot of scamming and bribery happening to me in African countries lately, and that's why I made this video.

I know this post will get a lot of hate mail, and that's okay. I want to hear your opinions, thoughts, and suggestions on this subject.

I could lie to you guys and say that Africa is 100% safe as a non-black person, but that's just not the case. Perhaps it would be safer if I didn't travel solo, but I always have.

The point of this video is that if you physically stand out in any place, you will be treated differently. And I wish someday, in this amazing world of ours, that this will not be the case.

I Spent a Day in Haiti's Most Dangerous Slum

Guys I have to be honest with you in this one. After visiting all 197 countries and thousands of cities around the world, I can say with 100% certainty that Port au Prince, Haiti, takes the crown as THE MOST DANGEROUS. Yes, more than Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, Syria and Iraq COMBINED.

I've never experienced before what I just experienced in Haiti... 80% of the city is controlled by violent street gangs, and when we crossed the sketchy checkpoint to enter the biggest slum called Cite Soleil, we had to get permission from the gang-leading chief to enter. I can't make this stuff up.

I'm just glad that I made it out alive and am here to tell this story. My heart aches for the people in Haiti, who are living through this disastrous situation. I hope the country will return to its thriving days like it was a few decades ago. There is so much potential with stunning beaches, smiling faces, and Caribbean vibes.

Thanks for watching - it took my team of 4 and myself more than 3 weeks to get this story edited. My hope is that this video sparks conversations that contribute to a broader understanding and ultimately, a positive change for the future of Haiti.

Zanzibar Island Tanzania

A visit to exotic Zanzibar Island Tanzania (aka: Unguja), on the East Coast of Africa. We only stayed 1 night in Stone Town, you really need more time there though, at least 2 nights. We spent the next few nights between Kichanga Beach Lodge on the East Coast and Fumba Beach Lodge in the West. Both very different and each with their own attractions.

Unfortunately we didn't capture much video on this trip, so it's mainly still photos. All the details of our trip and reviews of the individual lodges and hotels in the blog post here:

Links to the lodges and hotels are further down.

There are several islands in the Zanzibar Archipelago, the main island, commonly known as Zanzibar Island, is officially called Unguja, and it’s been inhabited for at least 20 000 years. Arab traders, mostly from Oman and Yemen, started arriving in the 11th and 12th centuries, their capital city was located at what is now known as Stone Town (a Unesco World Heritage Site).

I would dearly have loved to spend more time there and will definitely return, and I will definitely hire a car next time.
