Tamworth - Country Music Capital of Australia | Peel Street | Late December - Hot Summer Day

This video is of Peel Street - the main street of Tamworth - the Country Music Capital of Australia.
Tamworth (Kamilaroi Country) is a regional city in New South Wales' New England region. Tamworth is known world-wide for it's annual Country Music Festival (TCMF) that began in 1973. Each year, tens of thousands of people make their way to Tamworth for 10 days of music, dry summer heat & lots of fun (and it's often a case of what happens in Tamworth, stays in Tamworth).
This video was filmed on December 28th - a few weeks before all the fun begins. I intend on going back to the Tamworth Festival again ASAP to film some of the fun to share with my viewers. I was hoping to go in 2023, but I don't know if I will make it this time around.
When not in Country Music Festival mode, Tamworth is a busy regional centre where locals from near and far come to do business and enjoy the rich culture the city has to offer. As you can see in the video, Tamworth has some very beautiful historical buildings that help tell a visual story of how the city has evolved over many generations.

Visit one of Tamworth's favourite pubs, The Pig & Tinder Box

The Pig & Tinder Box was one of the first pubs in the New England region, opening in 1848. Since then the popular #Tamworth venue has been transformed into a casual dining and urban bar oasis. Occupying the heritage-listed old bank building, the unusual name still echoes back to pubs of the past. Tamworth local and owner Fraser Haughton shares his love for the Tamworth community and reveals why the pub has become a favourite for young and old.

Home to the Golden Guitar, the Country Music Festival and a 70th birthday party that lasted 4 days.

While visiting our family for the first time since 2019, our cups are all full ❤️

Although this isn’t our first rodeo, we ventured out and about this time, discovering a new favourite: Dobsons Distillery @dobsonsdistillery located in Kentucky (note: no KFC can be found here). An amazing place, legendary owners and a good laugh with the best gin we have ever had

Floods... We had never experienced anything like this and we couldn’t believe how quickly the waters rose and then the next day it was gone..

We saw some vans taking higher ground as the caravan park there is known to flood. Only a week a so ago we saw a Nova under water on the forums and seeing this has given us some understanding on when we are travelling always keep an eye on the weather through Australia

Golden Guitar Check In | Tamworth NSW

Driving Tamworth to Tenterfield

In this video we are driving from Tamworth to Tenterfield, as part Northen NSW Road trip.
After a late start we head out of Tamworth in the direction of Tenterfield via the B95/Manillia rd. We had room in our itinerary today to discover things on the way so when we saw a sign to a dam we decided to followit and found not just a dam wall but a picnic ground and recreation area.
Barraba silo art was the reason we decided to take this route and what a marvelous piece of art this is the water deviner was painted in 2019 when the region and large parts of the state where in drought and the area was out of water, looking at the landscape today he must have done his job well.
Along the trip we also discover the Myall creek Massacre site and Memorial, it still perplexes me that we can think these acts are ok, I was heartend to read that that most of those responsible were punshied for their crime.
Today we ended up in the lovely town of Tenterfild and enjoy one of the best pub meals we have had for quite a while.
As we watch the sunset on behind the hills behind Tenterfield we hope that you are inspire to visit surprising region of NSW.
Travel Brilliantly,
Kerryn
