I TOOK THE OVERNIGHT SLEEPER TRAIN IN IRAQ SOLO اسكتلندية بمفردها على متن قطار الليل

#Basra #Iraq #iraqvlog
December 2021
I took the overnight sleeper train from Basra to baghdad solo! ..and everything was fine! after going down to basra with a local friend by shared tax ,i ended up having to come back alone. I love to try train travel in different countries and i had seen a couple of other Vloggers that had taken this train, so wanted to see how it was as a solo woman to take this trip! i can honestly say i didn't feel unsafe at all at any point. The lovely ticket lady was so helpful to me, getting me in a cabin that was female only.
I was a bit disappointed that they wouldn't allow mw to film much more on the train , i was just sitting in my cabin alone talking to the camera myslf when that guy that brought me the water got me when i was walking to the restaurant carriage! ive seen other vloggers video their whole journey on this train, thats why i didn't think it would be an issue... but it was! so i did as much as i could!
i had a lovely woman share my room with me, we chatted and went for tea together. On the whole it was a good experience for me and you can see how kind and helpful everyone was, starting with the ticket lady ( who i still keep in touch with) to the guys in the snack shop not letting me pay for anything! Huge thanks to my new friends in Basra and everyone else in Basra that went out of their way to help me! i still have more on Basra , but wanted to share this train experience as soon as i could! thanks for watching as always ,

Don't Ride This Overnight Train in Iraq ????????

Travel Creators (FREE):
Travel Creator School (PAID):

Baghdad, Iraq ➖After spending a couple of days in the capital of Iraq, it was time to make our way to the south. I spent a lot of time catching trains in India, so I knew the best way to make it to the south was riding the only operating train Iraq has to offer, an overnight train to the city of Basra.

With tourists being virtually non-existent in Iraq, and certainly only a handful of tourists ever catching this train, we got quite the warm welcome on this train. Making friends with the military was pretty easy and they ensured we got down to Basra safely... well, as safely as you can...

Solo on $6 Iraqi Bus ????????

Free travel creator community:
Travel Creator School:

Basra, Iraq ➖ For the next few days I will be making my way North, back to Baghdad solo. During this time I'll be stopping off at some of the holiest cities in Iraq and seeing the amazing architecture first hand. The first stop is Najaf, and I decided to catch a local bus from Basra to get there for just $6.

It was definitely daunting being on my own for this journey, but I know from experience that the Iraqi people are some of the kindest in the world and will always help me out. Again, this is proved by the kind people I met on this 8-hour bus journey to Najaf.

IRAQI ROADTRIP: Baghdad to Karbala by SHARED TAXI | Iraq Travel Vlog | Iraq Travel 2023

IRAQI ROADTRIP: Baghdad to Karbala by SHARED TAXI | Iraq Travel Vlog | Iraq Travel 2023

I decide to get out of Baghdad and head to the Holy City of Karbala in Iraq. Traveling inside of Iraq is, in some ways, very easy. You just go to the local long distance car station, called garages and you can get in a car that goes to pretty much anywhere in Iraq. That being said, traveling inside of Iraq is not exactly straightforward. This is due to the multitude of checkpoints, where as a foreigner you are subject to pretty intense question. Though in the end, you will always be let through and allowed to enjoy travel inside of Iraq.

Taking the local train from Basra to Baghdad in Iraq.

There are a few train rides in the world with a romantic cling to their name, the Oriental Express from Paris to Istanbul, the Maharajas luxury train in India known as the palace on wheels, and in Switzerland you got the Glacier Express.

But a train ride that’s definitely doesn’t have the romantic cling to its name, is the local train between Baghdad and Basra in Iraq.

Overnight on Iraq's craziest sleeper train

????????
Today...we ventured south on an intriguing journey from Baghdad to Basra aboard the 9-hour sleeper train! After checking into my 4bed room and meeting Ahmed, the a friendly local we made for the food carriage. As the train rumbled through the night, I had the privilege of witnessing the true nature of these amazing people through broken English, arm wrestling and laughter. Join me as I capture the genuine spirit of the incredible individuals I encountered along the way. Come along and check it out!

FUNNY BUS SITUATION and Interesting cultural assembly In BASRA اسكتلندية تضحك في الباص

#Basra #Iraqculture #Iraqvlog
My last day in Basra, this was before i took the train! many thanks to Azhar for showing me Basra that weekend and the laughs! he told me to stick out my arm to stop the bus , then told me to shout NAZEL? to stop the bus....im assuming this is right but i have no idea! hahah ...as it turned out it was the last stop as you can see so everyone was getting off anyway ;)
Nest unexpected place was the Iraq Modern Cultural Assembly! Which is a tea place and also a place where they do regular gatherings for activists, poets, artists, writers will talk about their book , painters! i got the impression its a place where people can basically go and talk about whatever they want ....my friend said its where people can go to breathe. i stayed quite a while and had some interesting conversations without the camera on! such respectable hospitable welcoming people. very inspiring!
thanks to @XRPOfficial_Live for the weekend! ill be back!! 2 days wasnt long enough!
