**I made this video 3 years ago, but only shared it to Facebook...so I wanted to post it for all you guys here on YouTube! Please excuse the fast paced editing and shaky camera -- I was a newbie back then**

BE HONEST... could you tell me anything about TAJIKISTAN?

I couldn’t tell you much either, before arriving here yesterday... My first day wandering around Tajikistan's capital city of Dushanbe was off-beat and eye opening. I was stopped by the police TWICE for taking photos & videos (I don't know why).. so it was a challenge to make this video! Dushanbe is a very different place than anywhere I’ve ever been (in a cool & unique way), and I’m excited to see more of the country over the coming days.

Tajikistan, Pamir Highway & Wakhan Valley. Motorbike Around the World - Episode 11

Riding in Tajikistan on the Pamir Highway and through the Wakhan Valley. Traveling motorbike around the world.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT:

CHECK OUT THIS TRAVEL SERIES FROM THE START

EPISODE 11
The motorcycle adventure through the Pamir mountains of Tajikistan continues. After a night at Karakul Lake we head all the way back to Khoroch down the Pamir Highway where we take a left turn from the M41 Silk road into the Wakhan Valley. Again we're riding next to a wide river bordering Afghanistan. The road starts out a bit boring being tarmac, wide and when there is none lots of corrugations. We've been spoiled in the Bartang valley and I know it. Second half of the Wakhan is great, wild and at some point you could walk across to Afghanistan if you wanted to. Meet riders and cyclists along the way. In the evening reach the Pamir Highway again and start running out of fuel. Make it with the last drop to Alichur. Last ride through Murghab and past Karakul Lake again but this time straight to Kyrgyz. The sun is setting and those final moments in Tajikistan feel like something surreal. A special experience which I appreciated only more as time passed by. Already I started to think about time and unfortunately these were the final days of not thinking too much about time.

Enjoy this short motorcycle adventure documentary in Tajikistan. Put together with the video footage that I recorded back in 2014.

On the way there we would take a big detour through the Middle East, Central Asia and Mongolia. Little did I know back then that this would evolve into a years long motorcycle travel further taking me through Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the American continent.

1st Day back in Tajikistan

Hey! Made this quick vlog about our first day in Tajikistan. A lot of you probably have never heard of Tajikistan or are probably wondering why we came here. A big part of why we came is because I grew up here between 1993 and 2006, so we wanted to come back and check it out. The last time I was here was in 2014. I get a lot of the dates mixed up in the video. Sorry I didn't show much of the country in this video, but more videos will be coming soon about Tajik food, and the mountains. Hope you guys enjoy.

All our friends who used to live in Tajikistan, I hope you guys enjoy this video as well!

Tajikistan Right through the Turkestan & Zerafshan Mountains to Khujand (II) Part 17

Turkestan Range:
One of the northern extensions of the Pamir-Alay system, the Turkestan Range stretches for a total length of 340 km from the Alay Mountains on the border of Kyrgyzstan with Tajikistan to the Samarkand oasis in Uzbekistan. It runs in the east-west direction, north of the Zeravshan Range, forming the southern boundary of the Ferghana Valley in Tajikistan and Golodnaya Steppe in Uzbekistan. The highest elevations are in the east, near the border with Kyrgyzstan. The maximum elevation is the Pik Skalisty at 5,621 metres (18,442 ft). Glaciation occurs especially in the east. The southern slopes are bare cliffs and mountain steppe; the northern slopes are covered with forests. A highway through the Shakhristan Pass at 3,378 meters (11,083 ft) connects the capital Dushanbe with Khujand in Northern Tajikistan (Sughd Province)

Deadliest Journeys - Tajikistan - Cold Fever

Tajikistan is the poorest country in Central Asia. To travel through this region made up of 93% of mountains, you have to take the Pamir Highway, the second highest highway in the world. A mythical road built by the Soviets to open up the Pamir region and subject it to the rule of the Empire. A daring journey suspended between earth and sky on what the Tajiks call the “roof of the world”. But since the Russians left in 1991, the road has not been maintained. The Pamir Highway is the route of all dangers: Rock falls, landslides, fords ... 900 kilometers on the side of the ravine. Mechanics and people are put to the test, especially in winter when extreme temperatures freeze the engines. Gheyrat, the hero of this adventure, must improvise with the means at hand to deliver his goods and above all stay alive.

Tajikistan/Khujand (Panjshanbe Bazaar Square) Part 21

Welcome to my travelchannel. ☛☛☞☛
On my channel you can find more than 1000 films of almost 100 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
Panjshanbe Market, Khujand (Bazaar called “Thursday”)
Covered market Panjshanbe is one of the most colorful sights of Khujand. Its name sounds similar to the name of the capital city – Dushanbe for a reason. Both names mean days of the week: Dushanbe – Monday, Panjshanbe – Thursday. They used to have trade on Mondays in Dushanbe, and on Thursdays in Khujand.
Panjshanbe Market or, bazaar, is located in the center of Khujand, opposite Sheikh Muslihiddin mausoleum. The bazaar consists of the main pavilion and many stalls, tents and shops adjust to it. It is always noisy there since not only residents of the city but also neighboring villages flock there for shopping.
The main feature of the Panjshanbe market is its unique architecture and design. Construction of the pavilion took place in the middle of the 20th century and finished in 1964. The building of the bazaar combines elements of classicism and Stalin’s Empire. The interior combines Soviet and oriental styles. There is a semi-spherical portal above the central entrance adorned with a bright painting and sculptures of man and woman on the sides. When you enter, you will see a long arched hall with a row of columns.
Panjshanbe market offers a big variety of goods that can be divided into two parts, grocery and non-food. On the ground floor, there is a huge hall where you will find fruits and vegetables, bread and spices typical for any bazaar in Central Asia. There you can feel the real color of the oriental market. The first floor places numerous shops and stalls selling clothing, electronic devices and household items. Shopping arcade is common for post-Soviet area.
If you are planning to visit Khujand, we definitely recommend you to take a walk to the Panjshanbe market to make your trip to this ancient city complete.

Tajikistan Expedition 2014

RBGE Horticulturist John Mitchell shares video footage captured from his recent expedition to Tajikistan. Covering a distance of over 3500km -- largely on dirt track roads, as seen on the video -- John and the team covered both sides of the Pamir, from the extremely dry Wakhan corridor to the wetter side, where they collected over 160 collections.

For further information about the expedition see John's blog on #BotanicStories

Timelapse Adventure of Tajikistan, 2014

I am mostly interested in photography but sometimes I capture the time-lapse images of the clouds and mountains if there is an opportunity. I have been shooting these scenes during my hiking trips in the Turkestan and Zerafshan mountain ranges in Sughd province (Tajikistan) in 2014.
