More info about travel to Lake Bled: Lake Bled — nestled in NW Slovenia's Julian Alps — comes complete with a sweeping mountain panorama, a cliff-hanging castle, a lazy lakeside promenade, and the country's most sought-after desserts. While Bled has all the modern resort-town amenities, its most endearing quality is its stunning romantic setting. Fun-loving wedding parties flock to the church perched upon the lake's fairy-tale island. #ricksteveseurope #ricksteves #slovenia

Lake Bled Travel Guide | Day Trip from Ljubljana, Slovenia

Join us as we visit Lake Bled in this travel guide as a day trip from Ljubljana, Slovenia where we cover the top things to do in Lake Bled including visiting the castle by foot and island by boat trip. Just slightly over an hour by bus and roughly 45 minutes by car Lake Bled is easily accessible from Ljubljana.

With most attractions clustered around the lake a perfect way to spend a day visiting Lake Bled is to walk around the lake, visit Bled Castle, eat local cake and have a leisurely lunch along with taking a boat trip out to the island. All of this can be done in a day allowing you to return to Ljubljana in the early evening.

Let's find out what makes Lake Bled one of the most popular day trips for visitors traveling in Slovenia.

Lake Bled Travel Guide | Day Trip from Ljubljana, Slovenia Video Transcript:

Lake Bled is probably the most popular day trip you can take from Ljubljana. This is a lake that sits on the Julian Alps, and in the middle of the lake you have a small island with a church - it’s about as picturesque as it gets and it draws massive crowds, but first, the journey there.

Bled Castle is a medieval castle that was built on a cliff rising 130 meters over Lake Bled. According to written sources, this is the oldest castle in Slovenia, first being mentioned in a document from the year 1011. The castle is set up around two courtyards which are connected with a staircase. Once you’re there, you can visit the chapel, check out some of the exhibits, watch a demonstration at the castle forge, or eat at the castle coffee shop or restaurant.

After the castle visit, we hiked back down and started our walk along Lake Bled because we were still feeling pretty stuffed from lunch. Little did we know this would take us several hours to complete.

After eating our slice of Bled Cream Cake, or Kremsnita, it was finally time to arrange a boat ride to Bled Island. While you can rent your own row boat to take out on the island, we chose to pay the 14 Euros per person to have someone else do the hard work. However, if you’re with a group of friends or travelling with family, it’s definitely cheaper to just rent a boat and row it yourself.

Bled Island is very small and it got pretty crowded even though it was low season. Forty minutes turned out to be plenty of time to climb up, have a look around, and enjoy some ice cream.

Now one last piece of advice: we visited in the off-season and at the end of the day, we found out there were not enough buses to transport everyone from Lake Bled back to Ljubljana.

We weren’t able to get on one bus because it was full, so we waited an hour and a half for the next one. By then, more day-trippers like us had gathered, and once again, not everyone could get on the bus, leaving a lot of people stranded, having to find a taxi or other alternative.

There was a lot of pushing and shoving, and many visitors with prepaid tickets were visibly upset.

Because our bus was full, this also meant that even though there were several scheduled stops on the way back to Ljubljana, we couldn’t pick up any passengers along the way, many of them who had been waiting for hours.

Lake Bled has experienced a boom in tourism, but the infrastructure to transport people hasn’t quite caught up yet. After a nice day visiting Bled, getting out of there proved to be very chaotic and stressful. Hopefully things will change in the future, but until then, know that leaving at the end can be tricky.

This is part of our Travel in Slovenia video series showcasing Slovenian food, Slovenian culture and Slovenian cuisine.

What to do and see in Lake Bled Slovenia - Omnibus Edition

Join us on our complete adventures in Lake Bled, Slovenia, where we hiked round the Lake, climbed a nearby hill to take in the stunning views, visited the castle and took a boat to the island and church in the middle of the Lake! Plus we tried the world famous Bled cake!

Lake Bled, Slovenia - MY FIRST EVER TRAVEL VLOG!

Lake Bled is Slovenia's most popular tourist destination, attracting everyone from honeymooners to backpackers, who come for the beautiful views, hiking, biking, camping, water-sports and canyoning.

Here are the 3 things I learned after traveling in Lake Bled:
1) The shared boat trip to the island in the middle of Lake Bled costs about 14 euros round trip and was recommended by everyone I spoke with!

2) Instead of walking and then hitchhiking to the Vintgar Gorge, if I were to do it again I would've paid €2.50 for the one-way bus ticket and then at the end of the Gorge follow the same trail and walk back over the mountain through Zasip village to Lake Bled.

3) This is something I didn’t know existed until I left Lake Bled...drum roll please… supposedly Lake Bled has a cream cake that is famous and is something you have to try especially if you have a sweet tooth!

How come Slovenia to be so underrated? Lake Bled & Ljubljana travel vlog

Slovenia... What do we know about this country? How many of us have been there? Slovenia is one of the World's Top Underappreciated Countries. Most people travel to Italy or Austria but miss Slovenia.
What if I told you that Slovenia is one of the most beautiful countries in the world? Well, it is!

A few months ago, in June 2019 my friend Emmanuela and I visited Slovenia. Unfortunately, we did not have time to visit all the beautiful places of this country, but we managed to see some popular places such as the capital of the country - Ljubljana, and one of the most World's famous lake - Bled!
It was stunningly beautiful!

P.S. Ljubljana bus drivers are the best I've ever met :)

Hope you will enjoy watching this video, and Slovenia will be your next destination!

Lake Bled Slovenia ????????STUNNING Natural Beauty & GREAT FOOD - Ljubljana Day Trip -197 Countries 3 Kids

Join us as we visit Bled - one of the most picturesque spots in Slovenia.

Lying along the glacial Lake Bled and surrounded by the foothills of the Julian Alps, the town of Bled is an absolutely stunning Slovenian resort town. The lake has all of the ingredients for a perfect getaway including an 11th-century medieval castle, Blejski Grad, perched high on a precipice above the town.

We arrived to Bled from Ljubljana and stayed at a Home Exchange in the nearby village of Bohinjska Bistrica for the first few nights. Bohinjska Bistrica is located near the border of Italy, Austria and Slovenia is home to Lake Bohinj – the largest lake in the country. There is a postcard-worthy church and bell tower, at the head of the lake beside a beautiful stone bridge, dating back at least 700 years! In the area there are also numerous waterfalls and Triglav National Park, the gateway to the highest mountain in the country Mount Triglav at 2864m.

As we explored the region, it felt like we were in a miniature Switzerland surrounded by beautiful mountains, chalets overflowing with flowers, water fountains and more - at a quarter of the cost!

During our time in Bled, we stayed at a beautiful hotel in town called Penzion Berc. Here we also had an amazing dinner at their onsite restaurant called Finefood Berg.

Bled is the perfect sized town to explore on foot or by bike and there is a beautiful walkway around the entire lake. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Grajska Plaza as we walked along the lakeside walkway. It had outdoor pools on the lake with water slides going right into the water!

We also discovered that we could take electronic bikes to visit the lake. It was the most fun and fastest way to take a tour. We absolutely loved the peace and quiet as no motor boats are allowed on the water. Along the lake we discovered a hotel named Vila Bled that was once the residence of Tito, the leader of Yugoslavia.

In the middle of the lake there is an enchanting island to visit. Atop this small island is the Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Maria and some really good ice cream :-) We took a boat ourselves and had a small picnic in the middle of the lake.

We also visited the Bled Castle which has a tremendous view of the lake from the up above. The castle houses a museum, chapel and printing press!

Straza Bled was next on our list of places to visit in Bled and we are so glad we didn't miss it. Here we enjoyed an epic mountain coaster ride and later had a great meal at the Vegan Kitchen Restaurant.

Bled has many other outdoor attractions, including hiking trails, secluded swimming spots and in the winter, skiing and skating. We visited off season in October, which was a great time to discover the town with nice weather and less tourists.

A Weekend In Lake Bled, Slovenia | Travel Vlog

Our icelolly.com influencer Jess made her way to Lake Bled in Slovenia for a short winter break, which she documented for us. You can find Jess on the below social platforms:

CAMPING BLED SLOVENIA

Camping Bled is the most convenient place to stay if you want to spend some time in the direct proximity of the amazing Slovenian Bled lake. The entrance to the camping is just across the street from the lake shore with a nice grassy area for sunbathing and a peaceful place for swimming.
The camping site is very large with tiered areas, surrounded by picturesque mountains from both sides, some areas are shaded by trees, some are sunny. The camping offers numbered pitches, the guess nor the staff do not seem to respect them however, which makes camping a little bit chaotic.
There are two types of cabins available for rental: small, fairy-tale but very basic wooden huts, forming a little village with outside, wooden hot tubs and a place for open fire and more luxurious, Scandinavian-style Adria huts, overlooking the area.
There is a restaurant, a bar and an ice cream hut adjacent to the camping site as well as a well-stocked supermarket with moderate prices.
The staff at the reception are extremely helpful and nice. The toilets and shower rooms are of high standard, clean, comfortable and spacious. There is no additional fee for showers. The camping site is pet friendly and they even offer a dedicated dog shower room (for free!). The camping offers a number of washing machines and dryers, sinks for hand washing your clothes, a number of areas to wash your dishes and a washing machine if you don’t feel like spending too much time cleaning.
The wifi connection has a good coverage and you can use the Internet free of charge throughout your stay.
The camping site offers several sports activities: trampolines, beach volleyball, archery, table tennis and others. If this is not enough you can always go paddling or kayaking on the lake, and the path around it (6 km long) is perfect for a relaxing walk or a nice jog.
We spent 5 nights at this camping site and our overall rating is 7 out of 10 stars. As for drawbacks: it is very easy to get stuck in the dirt and loose gravel, especially after it rains. When we visited (May) almost half of the camping area was closed due to the fact that it was wet and muddy. The blocks with electric plugs are situated far apart so if you plan to stay here, make sure you take a really long extension cord. Before season not all of the toilet facilities and water points are open. The archery course looks really nice but it is definitely overpriced and so, we never saw anyone actually using it (1 arrow = 1 EUR)

Welcome to... Lake Bled

The moment you lay your eyes on Bled, you will fall head over heels in love with this special place. Bled certainly lives up to its winning reputation with its quaint picture-postcard town, emerald-green lake and medieval castle all surrounded by the Julian Alps. With all of this beauty there is no wonder this is a popular spot luring all walks of life from backpackers to honeymooners by the droves in the summer to both relax and take in the beauty, or to head out and explore the great outdoors.

TOP THINGS TO SEE
Lake Bled - The lake itself is going to drain your battery before you’ve finished taking photos- it’s just. That. Perfect.

Bled Island - The island in the middle of the lake is a pleasant rowboat ride away, and like any self respecting island has a healthy amount of legend attached to it.

Hills around the lake - Pleasant walking paths and great views abound in the surround of the lake area.

Vintgar Gorge - This 1.6km gorge is another ‘grammable outing, just when you thought you were done taking pictures.

Triglav National Park - The only national park in Slovenia, located in the beautiful Julian Alps.

FOODS TO TRY:
Bled cake - This layered cream and pastry concoction, the symbol of Bled, is served all over town, but most famously at the Park hotel, where it was invented in 1953 with the arrival of a famous pastry chef.

Visit to lake Bled's Centre Island by Boat | Church of the Assumption of Mary, Slovenia

***at the time of this upload, i'm 9 subscribers away from getting my own URL. Please help and subscribe***

This lake is just too beautiful. This is a must see if you ever visit Slovenia. The cost to take the boat to the centre Island is about 15 euros/person for return trip. You can also rent your own canoe nearby. I think the most convenient way is to take the boat, especially if you have young kids.

The ride to the island takes about 15-20 minutes and the view is just out of this world. Once the boat is anchored, you get 45 minutes to tour the small island and visit the church. I chose not to go inside the church but used the opportunity to fly my drone and capture some nice shot of this island.

There are boats constantly coming and going and don't worry if you miss your own boat. You can always catch another one but you will have to fork out another 15 Euros.
