DRIVE FROM SALZBERG TO LAKE BLED

DRIVE FROM SALZBERG TO LAKE BLED

In Episode 4 of Tripped, Tim comes to grips with the fact there is a country named Slovenia just to the south of Austria. Not to be outdone, Allison is astounded that there are natural waterfalls that look similar to Splash Mountain in Disneyworld. (Also, the sun is hot and water is wet)

On their way south, the Diemers visit Gollinger Waterfall (Golling Wasserfall). Little do they know that it would be their favorite wasserfall in the entirety of the trip. They also shoot through Slovenia with a quick visit at the scenic Lake Bled (located in beautiful Bled, Slovenia) to swim in ice cold waters. Lake Bled sounds a lot like Lake Blood, which you have to admit, sounds pretty metal.

While not featured in the video, there is a sense of ever present shame as the Diemers continue to be unable to hold a camera steady or in focus for more than 10 seconds.

SLOVENIA: EXPLORING beautiful views of NATURE, VINTGAR GORGE at LAKE BLED

SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the spectacular Vintgar Gorge (or Bled Gorge) which is a 1.6-kilometer gorge in northwestern Slovenia in the municipalities of Gorje and Bled, four kilometers northwest of famous Lake Bled. Carved by the Radovna River, it is the continuation of the Radovna Valley. The sheer canyon walls are 50 to 100 meters (160 to 330 ft) high. The stream has created many erosive features such as pools and rapids, and terminates in the picturesque 13 m (43 ft) Šum Falls (literally, 'noisy falls'), the largest river waterfall in Slovenia.

Things To Do In Bled, Slovenia (Ljubljana Day Trip)

Read The Blog Post HERE:

As the clouds roll over the mountains they draw your attention to this lonely church sitting on this lonely island in the middle of a vast lake.

It’s beautiful. It’s magical. And I’ve never seen anything like it.

It’s the type of place you would only see in your dreams and the only way to access the church on the island is by boat, driven by a person, similar to gondolas in Venice.

Rowing Lake Bled + exploring Vintgar Gorge | Slovenia

Lake Bled has long been on our bucket lists so we were so excited to visit! We quickly decided we had to hire a row boat to get out to the lake (although we balked at the cost!). After the lake we visited Cafe Belvedere to try the famous Bled cream cake. The cafe was a bit of a trek from the lake and was an unassuming building (we almost walked right past it!) but the view was absolutely worth it. And that cake!

We still had some time left in the day as we'd got to Lake Bled first thing, so we drove to Vintgar Gorge and explored that too. It was a beautiful (and fairly easy) walk that twisted and turned through a fascinating gorge.

SLOVENIA, EXPLORING the area around LAKE BLED, most spectacular lake in the world

SUBSCRIBE: - Let's walk around the magnificent Lake Bled in northwestern Slovenia, starting at the point where where it adjoins the town of Bled. The area is a very popular tourist destination. The lake is 55 km (34 mi) from the capital city, Ljubljana.

The lake is situated in a picturesque environment, surrounded by mountains and forests. The medieval-era Bled Castle stands above the lake on the north shore.

Lake Bled surrounds Bled Island which has several buildings, the main one being the pilgrimage church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, built in its current form near the end of the 17th century, and decorated with remains of Gothic frescos from around 1470 in the presbyterium and rich Baroque equipment.

Ljubljana & Lake Bled, Slovenia Travel Video

Our third stop along our backpacking Europe journey was Slovenia, a country we discovered to be completely underrated. We specifically visited Ljubljana (the capital) and Lake Bled. We didn’t expect much from the capital city, as many people told us it wasn’t even worth visiting. However, while there, we instantly found out how wrong those people were and how glad we were that we didn’t listen to them! It had stunning architecture, a beautiful emerald river flowing through it, and tons of restaurants to sit, eat, and drink!

In Lake Bled, we were completely blown away by the stunning natural beauty there— and surprisingly, there weren’t that many tourists in our way! And that was during tourist season!

Honestly, Slovenia was one of our top favorite destinations during our trek. It was clean, beautiful (in the city and country!), and affordable. The food was divine (a great combo of Italian and Eastern European cuisine!) and the people were extremely friendly!

If you get the chance to go, you should definitely do it— and this video proves why you should!

Roadtrip - Lake Bled (Slovenia) 2017

Lake Bled Walking Tour ,Slovenia in Ultra 4K

Lake Bled, Slovenia
WELCOME TO LAKEBLEDSLOVENIA.COM

version en français plus bas

The lake of Bled (in Slovene: Blejsko jezero, in German: Veldeser See) is a glacial lake of Slovenia. Located on the eastern edge of the Julian Alps, 55 kilometers from the center of the capital Ljubljana, it is one of the main tourist destinations of the country.
The banks of the lake are largely landscaped. It is bordered on the east by the town of Bled, and its medieval castle (eleventh century) which dominates the lake atop a cliff of 130 meters. Nearby are many hotels, including the former holiday residence of Tito transformed into a luxury hotel.
The lake is small in size, 2,120 meters long by 1,380 meters wide at maximum, covering an area of 145 hectares. At a depth of up to 30 meters, it encircles the only island in the country, Blejski otok, known for its fifteenth-century neo-Gothic church built on a pagan place of worship of the early Slavs. Tombs from the ninth to the eleventh century are still to be found on the island.

Bled Lake and Island, (Slovenia) - Travel Guide

Take a tour of Bled Lake and Island in Slovenia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.

One of Slovenia's few natural lakes, and also one the country's most enamoring features is the expansive Lake Bled.

Gently disturbing the smooth, glassy surface of the lake is a single small island, called Bled Island.

Secluded by trees, the 15th century Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary is visible on the island thanks to its tall steeple.

In the winter, snow blankets the shores of Lake Bled and the calm surface of the waters frequently freeze over.

The Alps, which rise strikingly above the lake and reflect their image in the still water, provide a gorgeous backdrop to the scene.

Because of how beautiful Bled Island is, many couples travel here to be married in the church.
