Burkina Faso was a lot of fun. While here we did some amazing things. We took public transport a lot and discovered just how difficult it is for the locals to get around.

Travel to Burkina Faso, and the best places to visit in an off the beaten path West African country that has safari (Nazinga, Tengrela), waterfalls (Karfiguela), wildlife (elephants, hippos), cultural festivals like FESTIMA, incredible music and dance (in Bobo Dialasso especially), nature parks (Domes of Fabredougou, Sindou Peaks), UNESCO ruins (Loropeni), exquisite culture (Grand Mosque) and unique architecture (tiebele). Don't be scared by the media - yes there is terrorist activity, but it's confined to specific parts. My Top 11 things to do in Burkina Faso are mainly away from the danger areas. Still, be safe and hire an experienced guide who is all about SAFETY!

What is supposed to be a nice tour through the various museums in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso turns into a bit of a dud. The national museum is closed and the music museum is down for renovations. However, Ouagadougou is a nice place to just wander around even if it means not visiting any museums or doing normal touristy things. One of the things I take in on this day is the beautiful Grande Mosque in Ouagadougou which is absolutely brilliant. Next to the mosque, there are plenty of shops, vendors and heaps of activity. In general, Ouagadougou is about as comfortable as any capital city in west Africa.

Traveling Back in Time in Burkina (The Old Village of Bobo)
This week's video is my final video from my time in Burkina Faso, so I hope you've enjoyed getting a small taste of what this vastly unknown and un-traveled country has to offer!
Today, we visit The Old Village of Bobo, which was the foundation of the city as it is today.
This experience was like stepping back in time, and like walking through a living history museum.
We meet some friendly locals, drink some local beer, see the sacred fish, as well as learn a lot about the culture, history and lives of this fascinating area.
I hope you enjoy, and we'll see you next week when we begin our travels around Morocco!

Getting to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
In this very short episode I head from the beautiful Parc National Deux Bales to the capital of Burkina Faso, Ouagadougou. The trip is fairly uneventful which means that most of the footage is from the drive. After arriving in Ouagadougou I really just take a day to chill out. Since being in Africa, I really haven't taken as much time as I needed to just relax, watch movies, and do nothing work related. While it seems like I'm always messing around, I usually spend about 6 hours a day on my computer working, and I rarely take a day off.
Thus, Ouagadougou will be my first full day off in a long time in Africa.
Anyways, Burkina Faso has been awesome so far. I really liked Bobo-Dioulasso so I'm hoping Ouagadougou is also really cool. This is one of my last stops in Burkina Faso before heading southbound and out of the country.

A country in West Africa
Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in West Africa. It covers an area of around 274,200 square kilometers and is surrounded by six countries: Mali to the north; Niger to the east; Benin to the southeast; Togo and Ghana to the south; and Ivory Coast to the southwest.
Burkina Faso lies mostly between latitudes 9° and 15°N (a small area is north of 15°), and longitudes 6°W and 3°E. It is made up of two major types of countryside. The larger part of the country is covered by a peneplain, which forms a gently undulating landscape with, in some areas, a few isolated hills, the last vestiges of a Precambrian massif.

Ouagadougou is the capital city of Burkina Faso. It is a fascinating city with unique architecture and lots of monumental art. Artists still practice the 'lost wax bronze casting' method so you will be spoilt for choice if you love figurines with an African theme. The discipline of road users, especially the thousands of motorcyclists is one thing that spellbinds a visitor.
When it comes to buildings, there seems to be a drive to make each building as unique as possible,. Many borrow from African motifs that may seem impossible on the drawing board but quite practical once constructed. You will be sorry when your time in Ouagadougou is up, that I can guarantee you.
