Number 10 on our countdown is New Chums Beach, and awesome hidden gem in the Coromandel Peninsula. This hike is relatively short but the reward is AWESOME, with a great hidden beach day!

The Karangahake Gorge is a BEAUTIFUL hike that is different than any other hike in New Zealand. The canyon is huge, and has a beautiful river running through. The Windows are a set of tunnels and windows in the rock of the canyon that offer great views!

The Wilkies Pools are an awesome set of cascading pools and waterfalls right near the base of Mount Taranaki in Egmont National Park! The Wilkies Pools even have an awesome slide that you can take from one pool to another.

The Pouakai Tarns are where you get that incredible reflective view of Mount Taranaki on a still day. Even if its windy, the view is breathtaking. The hike is quite a challenge, so pack a picnic to enjoy at a hut located near the tarns.

With a self-contained campervan, we can camp for free at Freedom Camping sites located in convenient places all across New Zealand! We get to camp at beautiful places, and don't have to pay! Sounds like a perfect situation to us... Freedom Camping is the best way to see New Zealand, especially when you are on a budget.

New Zealand travel planning is on the top of the list for a lot of people right now — regardless of if you're a Kiwi born and raised in NZ like us, now calling this place home or dreaming of visiting soon! As a travel destination New Zealand has so much to offer and there's pages of travel vlogs, Google results, travel articles and blog posts discussing what to do for the perfect holiday, or vacation if that's your term. To complicate planning, the North Island and South Island both offer their own unique adventures too.
We've spent the last year exploring New Zealand and sharing those experience through our travel vlogs here, but wit over 50+ episodes from NZ we're often asked about the highlights, the best attractions... no but, like, what cannot be missed?!
Last week we bought you a vlog on part 1 from the South Island, this week we're bringing you part 2 of our New Zealand travel tips series about our favourite experiences in the North Island. You can try tourist attractions in New Zealand such as the bay of islands, Hobbiton, Coromandel, Wellington, Auckland, rotorua, Aoraki national park or the wonderful fiordland milford sound. The country comprises two main islands—imaginatively named the North and South Islands in English, and Te Ika a Maui and Te Wai Pounamu, respectively, in Maori. You can ski on snow-capped mountains and bask on subtropical beaches, learn about Maori culture and discover its British heritage, sip on some of the world’s finest wines and hike through the uninhabited wilderness. Whatever travel experiences you enjoy, you can probably find them in New Zealand.

Mitre Peak: Summiting New Zealand’s Most Iconic Mountain in a Day
On 14 February 2018, two friends and I set out on a 15 hour mission to summit Mitre Peak (1,692m, 5,551ft) in Milford Sound, New Zealand in a day.

Queenstown is our favourite place in New Zealand, and after seeing this vlog and the other travel episodes to come (3 more still in this mini-series) you'll see why! Since returning to NZ we've been hunting out a lot more of the best hiking trails and walks around the country, but despite that we STILL hadn't ticked off the best walks in Queenstown. This trip we wanted to change that, so we made a list of some of the best walks and hikes and picked one of each... one tougher, one cruisier.
The Queenstown hill walk is a bit of a beast, there's mixed reviews online about the state of the walking track and elevation but it's unanimously known as one of the best hikes in the area. It's a good few hours of what feels like straight up elevation as you hike up through the trees, before reaching what we pretty quickly called the best views in Queenstown. It's starting point is a few mins up the back of town by car, or a walk up through the neighbourhoods to get there - but you're probably best saving your legs for the climb to come! Classify this one as a legit hike.
For a more chill walk, it's only a 20-minute flat stroll to reach the jetty at Bobs Cove, but you get access to the water within about 10 mins. You do need to drive 15ish mins out from Queenstown to reach Bobs Cove, then you have a collection of different walks and loops you can do. Not really hikes as such given how chill they are, at least thats how we think about it.
Gotta love how there is so much beauty to see in Queenstown, and all of those for free!
