Did you know you don't have to use cash or credit cards when you travel to India? Now foreign tourists can load foreign currency into a digital wallet when they arrive at the airport. This technology is called UPI (Unified Payment Interface) and is India's impressive instant real-time payment system.
Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a real-time payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that facilitates inter-bank transactions. It allows users to transfer money from one bank account to another instantly and securely, without the need for the recipient's bank details like account number or IFSC code.
With UPI, users can make payments using their mobile phones, without the need for cash, credit/debit cards or net banking. UPI transactions can be initiated and completed using mobile apps provided by banks or third-party payment service providers.
UPI has become a popular mode of payment in India since its launch in 2016 and is now widely used for a variety of transactions, including peer-to-peer payments, bill payments, mobile recharges, and online shopping. The success of UPI has helped promote digital payments and financial inclusion in the country.

Nothing says Christmas like chestnuts roasting on an open fire, reindeers with red noses, and... BLACKFACE?!
Every year I am disgusted by Christmas celebrations in the Netherlands, in which locals literally paint their faces black in order to depict Zwarte Piet or Black Pete, the fictional companion of Sinterklaas (the Dutch version of Santa).
This might tick my Dutch friends off, but it needs to be said: the current iteration of Zwarte Piet in blackface is RACIST and WRONG. I discuss why Zwarte Piet/ Black Pete use of blackface is problematic and provide more context in my new video.
But I'm shocked that in 2016 we're still having this conversation. BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOT COSTUMES. WE ARE NOT HERE FOR YOUR AMUSEMENT. BLACKFACE IS NEVER OKAY.
