Back in the summer of 2019, I spent two incredible days in Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan. This incredible Silk Road city boasts an impressive history that spans 2,200 years, from its pre-Islamic days, to its destruction by Genghis Khan and the Mongols in the 13th century, to its reinvention as a modern Soviet city following an earthquake in 1966.
The two days I spent in the city focused heavily on Uzbek cuisine, with some of the local culture and some unforgettable sightseeing rounding out my time there.

From the delicious, crispy, and meaty somsas at Minor Somsa Restaurant to the mouthwatering lagman at Lagman House, I was delighted by the local fare.
